THE RECKONING

"The Reckoning."

The most fearful and destructive part in human history, the world as we know it, came to an end.

The said seven heroes, those who were supposed to be chosen by the said gods and goddesses, were easily overwhelmed by the dark creatures of the night, the creatures that loom in the deepest and darkest part of the world: the "Demons."

Ruled by the demon god (Gali), a name said to strike fear in every human beast and gods alike, and his chosen seven demon kings under him. See the seven ancient gods, "The Pantheon," where the most powerful gods in the universe, and Gail was part of them. He was known as the ancient god of darkness, the embodiment of darkness itself. The other gods were Syrus (ancient goddess of life), Rein (ancient god of war), Freya (ancient goddess of light), Gasto (ancient god of magic), and Ikarus (ancient god of destruction). Out of these, there were special cases among them, those who were stronger than the others, those who have mastered their powers to the limit, and Gail was one of them.

For thousands of years, the gods have created inferior gods and goddesses like them under their rule, and they were called the direct descendants of the ancient ones, and they were very powerful. And from those direct gods and goddesses, other inferior gods were created, which then formed a hierarchy of power. Each direct god and goddess under the ancient gods were to join their powerful divinity to summon seven heroes which will be managed by the lower gods and goddesses every thousand years to suppress the demons and fight with the demon kings summoned by the gods under Gail's rule on the same level with them or that's how it's supposed to be. But that's not what's going on here.

Turns out I was also summoned as a hero mistakenly, which greatly baffled the goddess sent to manage us (Alicia). I can see it on her face; yeah, she's confused.

The Goddess Alicia convened with her seven chosen heroes. As they materialized before her, confusion clouded their faces, each wondering why they had been summoned.

Among them stood me, Jay, a nonchalant boy with an emotionless face (hey, that kind of hurts, writer). Unlike the others, I found myself in this extraordinary situation without a shred of emotion.

"Greetings, heroes," the goddess began, her voice echoing through the hall. "You have been chosen to embark on a quest to save the world from impending darkness."

The heroes exchanged glances, their confused faces mingled with apprehension. However, I still had my emotionaless expression on , leaning against a pillar with a bored expression.

"Why am I here?" Jay interjected, his voice flat.

The goddess raised an eyebrow, taken aback by his appearance. "You—how did you get here? Well, how am I supposed to know that?" I said with a confused face. Even with our confused expression, she still continued, "You have all been chosen," she explained. "Together, all of you will wield the power to defeat the forces of evil."

Jay shrugged. "Eh, sounds like a hassle."

His classmates shot him disapproving glares, their irritation mounting with each words he spoke (what is wrong with him his always like this).

Ignoring their silent protests, the goddess continued, "Each of you possesses unique abilities that will be crucial in this battle. Now, let us discuss your roles—"

"I still want an explanation," Jay interrupted again, with an emotionless face.

The heroes exchanged incredulous looks, struggling to comprehend Jay's blasé attitude towards the beautiful goddess.

Frustration crept into the goddess's voice. ( I'll just endure this until he leave then I can figure out what is going on here, let's just continue) . The fate of the world hangs in the balance".

The goddess sighed, realizing that convincing Jay to take their quest seriously would be an uphill battle. With a wave of her hand, she attracted the heroes' attention, stopping them from contemplating their situation any further.

As they listened, Jay's classmates whispered among themselves, voicing their disdain for his carefree demeanor.

Unfazed by their animosity, Jay sauntered away, his mind already wandering to the adventures that lay ahead. For him, this was just another day in a new world that will still never ceased to surprise him. Alicia continued the ancient gods have called you here, just like your past predecessors. Every thousand years, seven heroes will be summoned or that's how it as always been," she said, while looking at Jay, "to fight the demon kings ruled by Gali, the ancient god of darkness. Whose trying to take over Pandora and then increase his divinity to rule and control the other worlds and take over everything. You should know that after this world has been saved, the six strongest out of you will be transported to other worlds to keep on fighting and spreading the names of the ancient ones until all evil has been quenched while one will be left behind. So it's advisable to leave offspring before you go, and I am sure the kingdoms will take care of that. And you should all know that this world isn't like your former world; this world contains more species like humans, elves, beast folks, and the likes, even half-gods or demigods, those almost reaching divinity. But I am sure you will be briefed on that once you get to Pandora.

Now let's continue said Alicia. Every hero is handled by lower gods or goddesses that serve as guides for different factions of the ancient one's. It depends on which ancient gods or goddesses you were blessed by, and you will know that when your class is given. Now let's talk about your classes; the more powerful your classes are, the more the gods and goddesses will support you. Don't worry, the ancient ones aren't biased. I am sure you will all be given good classes.

"Are you part of the gods and goddesses that will guide us?" Alicia, a handsome boy with a straight back and courageous look, asked.

"Yes, but I am a special case," she answered while smiling. "Every hero has a role, and that role is to stop and exterminate all evil. You will be given some special tasks in some situations by the ancient ones, which you must follow unconditionally. The ancient ones have less control on the lower world but increase and use their control through you, just like the ancient one Gali, through his demon kings as they spread chaos. So, kill as many demons and demon kings as you can, and spread the names of your ancient gods and goddesses far and wide as you should as their heroes, and do not falter, as their divinity as your protection and thier gods and goddesses as your guide, you all will surely prevail."

"What if we die during the battle?" Jay suddenly asked.

The goddess was first stunned and then became quiet. Then she responded, "If you die, you are dying for a cause. As you risk your life to save the world, your name will be passed down as legends, and your heroic deeds will be written down as stories for generations to come. As for your soul, it will be reincarnated as a god or goddess under the rule of the ancient ones you were blessed by, and you will live as an immortal forever after," she said that.

Everyone was excited except for Jay and a quiet but beautiful girl who frowned a little. "I thought so," jay said.
