Chapter 5: Da~te, Da~te, time for a Da~te! (The Vampire and Yami’s Date Part 2)
Hello, everyone. Yami here. Lily and I find ourselves at the Lake of Fenrir, where our fates first intertwined as children twelve years ago. It was also the place where Lily saved me, and I became her blood servant, forever binding our destinies as wives. Now, let's delve into the memories of the past, starting from the moment I first met Lily.
At the time Lily and I first met, I was just a six-year-old child. It was the day of our nation's founding celebration, and my family had gathered at the Lake of Fenrir. With the Royal family present, whom my mothers served, I had to be on my best behavior. While playing with some other girls near the lake, I noticed a young girl with beautiful silver-white hair and deep blue eyes that shone like sapphires. She got too close to the water's edge and tumbled in.
"Aaagh… help me," she cried out.
Without a second thought, I found myself sprinting towards the lake and diving in. It was as if my body moved on pure instinct, telling me that it was my duty to save and protect this girl. Thankfully, my mother Kim, who was a knight, had taught me how to swim at a young age. I reached the girl, pulling her to safety. Soon, a crowd of adults surrounded us, and I checked on the young girl to ensure she was alright.
"Hey, hey, are you okay?" I asked, wrapping my arms around her and gently patting her head to comfort her. However, before I could receive an answer, I saw two beautiful women approaching us, whom I recognized as the Queens of our county, Queen Charlotte Vamper and Queen Daisy Vamper. They were accompanied by my mothers, who had rushed to the scene. I wondered who this little girl was.
"Lily!" Queen Charlotte exclaimed.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" Queen Daisy asked.
"Mama, Mommy!" the girl cried out.
So this girl was Lily, the first Princess of the Vamper Kingdom. I confirmed it to myself as my mothers arrived, checking on both of us.
"Yami, are you okay?" my mother Chloe asked, concern etched on her face.
"I'm fine, momma," I replied, a sense of relief washing over me.
"Good grief, I'm glad you were able to save the Princess, but why did you jump into the lake yourself instead of calling for an adult?" my mother Kim inquired.
"I'm sorry, mommy; I don't know what came over me. My body moved on instinct, as if it knew it was my duty to protect and save the princess," I explained, my voice filled with genuine confusion.
"Now, I understand, Yami. You need to know something about your bloodline on my side of the family. We possess a rare trait that allows us to sense and see the person we are fated to protect, even if we have not met them before. Our bodies move on instinct to save them from danger. In my case, it was your mother Chloe. And now, it seems Lily holds that place for you. I'm surprised our family trait manifested at such a young age. However, please keep this information to yourself for now. I need to discuss it with Her Majesties," my mother Kim revealed, her words carrying a sense of secrecy.
"Okay, I won't tell anyone until you say it's okay. Can Momma train me more so that I can become stronger and better equipped to protect myself and Princess Lily when I grow older?" I eagerly asked, my eyes shining with determination.
"My little girl is already enthusiastic about training and thinking about the future. You are so mature for your age, Yami. I wish you could stay by my side for a little longer. Very well, it's never too early to learn how to defend yourself and others," my mother Kim agreed, a smile gracing her lips.
As I conversed with my mother, the Queens and Princess Lily approached us. My mothers immediately knelt down on one knee, and I followed suit, showing respect to the royal family.
"Please rise, Prime Minister Chloe, Knight Commander Kim. And you too, young Yami, please stand. You are our dear daughter's savior. Thank you for saving Lily," Queen Charlotte said with genuine gratitude.
"Indeed, we are truly grateful. Lily has something she wishes to ask you. Please, talk to her," Queen Daisy added.
As I tried to process the Queens' appreciation, Princess Lily made her way towards me, her small feet carrying her with determination.
"Um, Yami, thank you for saving me. Are you hurt anywhere? Are you okay?" Lily asked, concern etched across her sweet little face.
"I'm okay, Princess. I'm just glad you're feeling better," I assured her, a smile spreading across my face.
"I don't often get the chance to play with kids my age because of my position as a princess. But I feel like it's fate that brought us together like this. So, Yami, can we be friends?" Lily asked, her eyes shining with hope.
I couldn't believe it. The Princess herself felt a sense of fate in our meeting. I was ecstatic. "Of course, Princess. I would be honored to be your friend," I replied, my voice filled with joy.
"If we're friends, will you call me by my name?" Lily asked, a bright smile adorning her face.
"Sure, Lily," I agreed, mirroring her smile.
"Yatta! Thank you. You're so cute, Yami," Lily exclaimed, hugging me tightly.
Lily was so pure and innocent, and I vowed in that moment to always protect her smile.
However, let us fast forward to the events that unfolded two and a half years ago. It was a time of darkness for me as I blamed Lucy for putting Lily in danger and myself for failing to protect her. I distanced myself from them both, avoiding them at all costs. That was until the day we received news that someone had infiltrated the castle and kidnapped Lily.
"Why did Lily choose Lucy as her first blood servant and wife? I have been by her side for nine years. No, it's not her fault. It's my fault for not confessing my feelings and for avoiding both of them over the past few months. It's all Lucy's fault that Lily is sick and frail. She's the reason Lily suffers from nightmares and cries herself to sleep at night. But it's also my fault. I was so preoccupied that I didn't realize Lily hadn't returned from visiting Lucy at the scheduled time that day. Maybe if I had, I could have protected her," I lamented, my heart heavy with guilt and regret.
