After that conversation with his sister, William's relationship with his sisters stagnated. He stopped playing with them. Instead of having lengthy exchanges, he only nodded toward them.

His eldest sister nevertheless maintained a good relationship with William since she and William would be responsible for the Asquith family after their father retired from the chair and gave it to William.
