The Beast Of The North Part 2

"Damn it! It keeps regenerating!"

I didn't know that something could irritate me this much. No matter how much I attack it, its body kept regenerating. This is getting annoying. I already spent half of my mana and I still couldn't damage it properly.

"[Fireball], [Crushing Wave], [Lightning Spear] and [Boulder]."

I cast four spells one after another. I used all of my affinities. Water, fire, earth, and lightning. Fire and lightning gave it the most damage but even the wounds they caused healed a few seconds later. Alright, I'm almost out of any ideas. Since water and earth almost don't hurt it, I have to use fire and lightning. I can't really use runes and mana strings. They are too fragile and this beast literally destroys the environment at every step it takes.

Perhaps I should somehow create an explosion huge enough to blow away most of its chest and then I could go and grab its core from the wound before it heals. But then the explosion must be strong enough and I should be close by. It is troublesome. I can't really create an explosion strong enough to achieve what I want with the spells I know.

I took a deep breath and start absorbing the foreign energy from my necklace. I felt powerful as the foreign energy circulated inside my body. Every time I felt this foreign energy my body desires it more. My body is adapting to this energy slowly. Anyway, with the boost of this energy, I can somehow manage this.

I run toward it. The beast tried to punch me but I dodge it and jump on it. I coated my left arm with both lightning and foreign energy. I shaped it like a blade and stabbed the beast in its chest. I use this chance to push mana into the beast's body. I jumped sideways as its chest exploded.

Unfortunately, the explosion wasn't enough. But before I could use this chance, the beast punched me several meters away. Ugh! What the heck! This thing is too powerful. I need to end this as soon as I can. The longer this goes on, my chances of winning will decrease.

"I will kill you. I just need a strong explosion. I need to use both fire and lightning at the same time. I have to suppress my limits."

I took a deep breath. I gathered mana on my right hand and cast a big fireball. I aimed it at them in his head. It burns some of its face but nothing serious. This would give me a few seconds. From the beginning of this fight, its regeneration speed didn't even slow down.

I gathered large amounts of mana on both of my hands. I put them close to each other. I changed the mana on my right hand to lightning attributed mana. The next part would be the hardest. I absorb more foreign energy to balance and ease my body. I focused on the mana in my left hand. I tried to change it to the fire attribute one.

I felt a huge wall blocking me. This is the wall that prevents me from using more than one element at a time. I gathered my resolve and pushed forward until a few seconds later I felt the familiar warmth fire attribute mana gives. I did it, somehow.

I gathered the two different elements between my palms. I imagined the mana imitating the water ball but not changing into the water. Two elements started to rotate around each other. It looked weird. It has a vague resemblance to a ball but it's hard to tell.

I noticed the already recovered beast rushing to me. I didn't waste time firing these combined element to its chest. The second the ball touched the beast's chest, it exploded. Arcs of lightning and some bright flames come out of the explosion.

"That was... stronger than I thought. I should add this to my list of the magics I must research."

Because of the explosion half of the spirit's body was blown away. I could see a shiny crystal-like thing deep in its chest. This must be the core of the spirit. Before it could fully regenerate I run toward it. I shot a lightning bolt to its wound so that it won't quickly close up.

I leaped at its chest. It tried to punch me away but I shot another lightning bolt at its eyes to make it blind. It missed me because of its blindness. I took this chance and grabbed the core quickly. I used all my strength and tear it off the beast's body.

As soon as I took out the crystal from its body, the beast fell to its knees. Its fists made of ice shattered and the rest of its body just fell down. This is the first time I witness the death of a spirit. When I killed that strange man I wasn't able to witness the death of the fire spirit. According to Kairi, its body lost its shape and the mana made its body dissipate to air.

"This spirit was weaker but had a troublesome ability... I guess this also proves that there are other spirits out there. I definitely need to get stronger and I should do it fast."

This spirit was at most Middle Inferior Class. It is one of the weakest spirits according to the spirit rankings but it was still a dangerous threat to me. I mean if I wasn't using [Liquid Form: Water] all the time passively, I might get internal bleeding from one of its punches.

"Thankfully I manage to defeat it. I got its core so that's something. It's a pale blue crystal. I guess it has an ice concept or something close to it. But the best thing I gain from this fight is this."

I gathered both fire and lightning in my right hand. They were usually clashing against each other whenever I try to use them at the same time. But now they are... tamer compared to before. I feel like I just achieved something amazing. I shaped it as a ball and it appeared on my palm. It was a bright yellow ball. It had tiny arcs of lightning and some sparks of fire.

This gives a completely different feeling from both lightning and fire elements. I think I just combined two different elements and create a new one. Well, I wouldn't able to manage this if I didn't have this foreign energy. Even though I manage to create this new element, it is still unbalanced and I need to extremely focus on it to keep it from exploding.

"Well, let's call it Explosion Element."
