Chapter 5

"Yes that if possible, but Brighton has trained using the sword for twelve years now; with best tutors in the city. Plus, there will be healers available if he does." Axel stated.

"Be that as it may but he has no true fight experience besides a couple of competitions. You think he can think calmly fight multiple opponents" Sky.

The discussion was leaning in favor of Brighton. Koa entered the mansion and began to head toward the kitchen passing the doorway to the dining hall. Koa was unaware of the conversion that was being discussed in the dining hall and plus he did not care what they were talking about. Sky saw Koa cross passed the doorway and got a splendid idea.

"How about we send your bastard son to go fight in the war." Sky had a slight grin.

"Why would we do that. He'll die within minutes of the battle; he has no training." Axel said slightly confused.

"Yes he probably will, but then neither you nor Brighton will have to fight in the war. Plus, if the bastard dies in war no one will care about it." Sky

"That makes sense to me, if he lives or dies it will bring honor to our name and our promise will be made with the City Lord." Brighton had a large smile on his face.

"It will dimmish our name if he is a coward on the back line" Axel.

"Then let's put on front line with the weaker knights." Brighton.

"Now that sounds like a perfect plan; alive or dead it will benefit us." Axel now had a smile on his face.

"We'll send a letter to City Lord Hemis in two weeks, along with the boy." Axel continued.

Koa just went into the kitchen to eat with the staff after practicing with the sword. After finishing he went to his room to go to sleep. Without any ideas from what his family has planned.

Two weeks later, Koa woke as usual, he headed to help Samantha.

"Good morning, I'll go fill the troughs." Koa said as he signaled Samantha

"Sure thing. When your done I will be washing clothes if you can come help after that." Samantha

"Of course." Koa said as he left.

Koa grabbed the bucket if water and began filling all the troughs. After forty-five minutes he was finished and went to help with the laundry. When was finished he immediately went to find Max to finish his work. Koa found Max after a few minutes, as he stepped out of Axel's office. Max noticed Koa after he walked out and walked over to him with a letter.

"Finished with helping Samantha early as usual." Max said while chuckling.

"Yeah. I'd rather get the boring stuff over with." Koa said with a smile.

"Well, this will be the last of your work for today. Deliver this to the City Lord." Max

"Him again. Ahhh, man his estate is always so uptight. Well, whatever lets get it done with." Koa

Koa took the letter from Max and headed straight to the City Lord's estate. Koa arrived at the estate giving his letter to the guard; expecting to wait for his letter to be delivered. After ten minutes of waiting a guard returned.

"Follow me City Lord Hemis wants to have a talk with you." Guard

"Uhh sure." Koa was confused.

'Did I do something wrong?' Koa thought.

Koa followed the guard, he was led to the Hemis's office. The guard knocked on the door.

*knock*

"Enter" Hemis

"This is the man who delivered the letter Lord Hemis" the guard said as he left.

The room was now quietly awkward just Koa and Hemis in the room.

'Maybe I was looking at the guards the wrong way again.' That was the only thought that was going through Koa head.

Hemis broke the silence in the room.

"Are you Koa Alvin?" Hemis

"Yes. City Lord Hemis that is my name." Koa

"The son of nobleman Axel Alvin." Hemis

"Yes that is also correct, City Lord Hemis." Koa

"Everything seems to be in order than. You will join the first infantry second line." Hemis

"Umm I apologize City Lord Hemis I don't quite understand what you mean. Why would I need to be fighting in the city's ranks?" Koa

'So, they didn't even tell him they just sent him over here. The boy is probably younger than any of the other knights. Though I can't stop them they have sent a one of his sons to fight.' Hemis thought.

"Oh, the city will be going to war and a letter was sent two weeks ago ordering the nobles house to send one their own to battle to boost morale. It seems your family has sent you to fight in this battle. Before you say that you don't want to go to war it is past that point of whether you want to or not." Hemis

'woah woah. This is a joke right I don't even have experience fight another person much less experience in wars. They are basically sending me to die.' Koa thoights.

Patrick enters the room, breaking Koa train of thought.

"Follow Patrick he will led you to the first infantry barracks." Hemis

Koa said nothing just nodded. He was following Patrick; they entered the barracks.

"We will be leaving soon, grab some equipment from the quarter master that's all you will need." Patrick

"Yes sir." Koa said his face made it look like he was in a daze.

Koa follow directions from the others in the infantry division. He so arrived in front of a desk inside the city armory.

'Tsk. Another recruit right before they leave.' Quarter Master

"What do you need?" Quarter Master

"I was told to get some equipment from here." Koa

"Yeah. Even I know thats why you are here. What weapon do you use? Or Armor?" Quarter Master.

"Oh, I use a short sword. I've never worn any armor before." Koa said.

"Alright wait here I'll get all the equipment ready." Quarter Master
