Chapter-22: Spar pt-1

"Sure!..."

Erik moved forward towards Sawaki, the person, in turn, motioned towards the protective gear kept on the bench. The set of protection consisted of a headgear, chest cover, arms pads and thigh cover.

This equipment only offered protection to the upper body, leaving the lower body unprotected, the reason behind this was simple, below waist attacks weren't allowed.

Especially in a spar, attacking the lower portion of the opponent's body was considered against the rules of a 'spar'.

Erik picked up the equipment pieces one by one and strapped them onto his body. Making sure that the protective gear was in place and wouldn't hinder his movement, he nods towards Sawaki.

Erik just wanted to measure the skills of his senior, thus he tightened his body and adopted a basic defensive stance. He wasn't going to take this fight seriously at all, neither did he had any intention of besting Sawaki.

He just wanted to see how much power could Sawaki force him to use. After all, for the "endgame", he needed some worthy pawns to help him, his personal capabilities couldn't do everything.

Two students piqued Erik's interest, one was Sawaki while there was another person who could successfully use [Contact type Demolition].

Sawaki looked towards Erik before asking Tatsumi to be the referee and asked him to explain the rules of the spar to Erik before the fight started.

Tatsumi nodded towards his friend and turned towards Erik with a calm face, he opened his mouth and patiently explained the various rules of the spar.

"There are a few rules by which we must abide by when sparring....."

"Attacks below the waist are prohibited except when targeting the heels of the opponent."

"Use of lethal Magic is forbidden since this is only a demonstration, offensive spells aren't allowed."

"Injuring your opponent to a certain extent is allowed but no major damage must be done to either of the participants."

"The fight will stop as soon as the referee announces the end."

"No kind of weapon or external items other than CAD for the purpose of magic activation is allowed."

"Do you understand?...."

"Yes...."

"Very well then, let's begin!...."

Sawaki adopted a martial stance as his body bend forward a bit, his palms curled into fists, positioned in front of his face. Sawaki gave off a faint pressure to the different students who had been watching all this time.

The coercion brought by the pressure was very low when compared to when Sawaki sparred against Tatsumi, apparently, Sawaki wanted to slowly fight Erik and gradually understand which level of power would he require to fight his opponent without embarrassing them.

"Ready...?"

"Hm..."

"Here I come...!"

Sawaki burst forth with an impressive speed! Immediately closing the distance between himself and Erik. In a blink of an eye, he was already in front of him and swung his fist towards the side of the latter's head.

The whole motion was very fast and smooth, most of the students couldn't even see when Sawaki attacked Erik.

Mari and Mayumi both had serious expressions on their faces as they watched the battle unfold.

The fist delivered by Sawaki neared Erik's head but the latter showed no signs of panicking, boundless calmness radiated from his body as he simply tilts his head sideways and completely avoids the incoming punch.

Erik's motion was very clear and smooth, displaying his high reflex rate and control over his body parts.

Nonetheless, seeing that the first attack failed as Erik effortlessly avoided the attack, Sawaki immediately went offensive, he could clearly see that Erik had been trained in hand-to-hand combat and could hold his ground.

Sawaki immediately threw more punches towards the opponent who just dodged and kept backing away, escaping every blow by a hair's distance.

A side gab came from left, the target was Erik's stomach, the speed of the attack was fast, making it harder to avoid the incoming follow up attacks.

Erik ducked to avoid the incoming attack, coming from right! The previous attack by Sawaki was a feint performed in order to trick the opponent to protect the place which wouldn't be attacked by him.

'Interesting...he is neither using Magic nor does he use Ninjutsu to boost his speed but even then the power displayed by Sawaki-san is indeed impressive.'

'In the future, I should recruit him if I can...."

The seemingly 'Stalemate' continued for a while, Sawaki was extremely fast and powerful with his blows but Erik effortless avoided every single blow which was about to land on his body.

The students could feel their blood boil from the amazing display of force and dexterity displayed by Erik and Sawaki.

(Sawaki P.O.V)

'Erik seems far stronger and skilled than I imagined, his combat skills are all top-notch. He even spent less stamina while avoiding the incoming blows.'

'This is bad! If I can't get near his body, I probably wouldn't be able to land any hits, especially since he is able to avoid even my fastest attacks.!'

'He manages to dodge my attacks at the very last second, it is very dangerous for me to carelessly approach him since at that moment when I strike, my defence is at it's weakest.'

'He would have probably landed a few blows at the second if he was going offensive.'

Sawaki narrowed his eyes as a thought emerged within his mind.

'He is testing my skills! If that is the case then I must force him to switch to the offensive.'

Sawaki's wasn't able to make his attacks connect with the target due to Erik being just too dexterous and nimble. This fact both frustrated and excited him.

Maybe after all this time, he did find someone younger than him who possesses such skills in martial arts.

'I have no choice but to use magic!'

'[Accel]'

Sawaki's body accelerated all of a sudden, he quickly arrived in front of Erik and launched a heavy punch straight towards his stomach.

The sudden increase in speed was too much, Erik couldn't avoid the attack so he crossed his hands in front of his stomach and relaxed his body, so he could absorb must of the momentum without much problem.

*Bam*

The fist connected with Erik's arms, sending the latter sliding across the floor before finally, he came to a stop.

The calm expression over his face never wavered, not even for a single second as he just shrugged of Sawaki's punch like it was nothing.

'Impressive...let's see what he does against 'that'.'

A calm smile appeared onto Erik's face.
