Chapter-125 The Competition Begins pt-1

The stadium was bustling with people!
The day was Saturday and the sunlight seemed particularly mild; works in favor of the participants.
The sky was crystal clear, signifying that the clouds wouldn't become an affecting factor for the events.
Hundreds of people had gathered in the stadium to witness the [Nine-School Competition].
Most of them stood, wearing normal clothes with some snacks in their hands as they screamed in excitement.
Just like any other year, the crowd this year was just as excited as ever; for the competition to finally... begin!
The first 3 days of the competition were for the first half of the [Official Division]; followed by 5 days for [Newcomers' Division], and the competition would end with 2 more days for the second half of the [Official Division].
While these details are the same every single; this particular year was a special one.
This time... there was a surprise event being organized by the [Organizers]; worth 60 points!
Can you believe it!? 60-points!
That is equivalent to winning the entire [Newcomer's division]!
Insane! Right!?
Unfortunately, nothing was known about the details of this new event, as of yet.
Other than the fact that it would be held in the second half of the [Official Division].
Neither the name of the new event nor the participant criteria had been mentioned till now!
And the crazy thing was that the competition was about to commence!
The older; decision-making students of each school were very optimistic about this..."surprise event".
After all, nothing like this has happened before; since the founding of [Nine-School Competition].
And the [Organizers] were truly keeping a tight lid on the surprise!
Anyway, the first-day competitions were the [Speed Shooting] and [Battle Board].
Both Mayumi and Mari were participating in the mentioned events!
The former first!... Since [Speed Shooting] was the opening event this year.
Having stated that, the competition began without any further incidents.

"Mayumi sure does have a huge fan following!" (Suzune)
Yes, she does have a huge fan following in the magical community and there are valid reasons behind it.
Mayumi is the eldest daughter of the Saegusa family, one of the [10-Master's Clan].
She is a natural talent, titled the "Elven Princess" due to her mastery in long-ranged warfare.
Without a doubt, she is one of the most beautiful women in all of Japan; second only to those like Angelica Shields or Miyuki.
For the past few years, she has become famous for her dominating style in the [Nine-School Competition] events.
Not only is she well-mannered but also carries herself with grace, confidence, and feminine charisma!
Lastly, Erik is her fiancee who is someone possessing an even bigger fanbase when compared to her.
Being the fiancee of a highly loved business titan was a highlighting point for Mayumi.
Even so, Erik smiled at his friend's statement and decided that it would be better to play it off, cool; especially since he was sitting in the front row!
One of Erik's closest friends, Suzune had a smile on her face as she looked at her friend; sitting silently beside her with a smile on his face as he looked towards the arena.
She had known Erik for 3-years; it is alright to say that she knew him well enough to conclude that he is very happy to see people cheering for Mayumi.
Not to mention that it was him who had booked the front seats of the stands for them both, just to see Mayumi's matches.
"Did you meet with her before coming to the stands?" (Suzune)
"Yes, I did...now we should 'focus' on the event." (Erik)
Erik adopted a poker face as he emphasized the word "focus".
He didn't want to engage in a deep conversation with his friend; especially in public.
"How ironic! The roles have been reversed!" (Suzune)
Suzune let out a light laugh as she turned to look towards the arena.
"What do you mean?" (Erik)
Erik had an idea about but Suzune was implying but even so, he decided that it would be better to just ask her.
"Usually, it is me who has trouble communicating with others but today...you are the nervous one out of both of us." (Suzune)
"Well, you are not wrong...I am both nervous and excited for Mayumi, she has been preparing for a long time to win this event." (Suzune)
"I have faith in her skills but I worry that there are various elements occupying space within her mind." (Erik)
Suzune had a frown on her face as she listened to his friend's words; finding some truth in them.
She could tell that Mayumi seemed a little bit off ever since she came from her family meeting.
She was probably worried about some task her father had assigned to her.
"You...are not wrong but I believe that Mayumi-san will do alright." (Suzune)
Even so, Suzune had confidence in her friend's skills!
"I hope you are right, Suzune." (Erik)

Mayumi, also known as the "Elven Sniper", was participating in the [Speed-Shooting] event.
She stepped into the arena, with her CAD as the crowd started cheering her.
"Mayumi~ Mayumi~ Mayumi~"
(Crowd)
*inhales*
*exhales*
Mayumi took a deep breath to calm down her frantically beating heart!
She wore a blue-colored full bodysuit along with a sniper shaped CAD called, "The Outlaw:-Arctic Threat".
Today was the day, she would try to make history by scoring a perfect score in the event.
She looked towards the crowd, specifically towards the stands where she smiled after she spotted her fiancee and friend in the front seat.
Suzune sat beside Erik; Su-chan was currently chanting Mayumi's name along with the people in the stands.
Trying to get her friend all fired up!
Her smile widened at her friend's unusually confidence before she turned to look at her fiancee.
Erik had a smile on his face as he slowly opened his mouth and mouthed something to Mayumi.
Something which she understood perfectly.
'I believe in you...' (Erik)
Understanding Erik's words, a warm feeling spread throughout Mayumi's being; relaxing her in the process as she let go of the tension in her shoulders.
'I will not let you down!' (Mayumi)
With a solemn promise, Mayumi turned towards the [Organziers] who were about to give the participants the green signal to begin.
"Alright participants!" (Organizer)
"Ready? Aim... Fire!" (Organizer)
Almost immediately!
Mayumi raised her CAD as a magic sequence appeared under her feet!
Multiple projectiles were launched into the air at the same time!
Using bullets formed from ice particles, and her "Multi-scope", which allowed her to view objects remotely from multiple angles; Mayumi started demolishing her targets!

(A/N:-The server °•The Coffee Shop•° was created with the intent to help authors find a well-organized server where they don't have to worry about creating multiple channels and handle the server.
