Crescent Slash

If Tian Hai could be said to be charging through the defenses of the beasts, Xue Chang would be gliding peacefully passed their guards.

In his hand was a beautiful dao saber, whose main body was red while it's sharp edge gave off a green tinted black color.

It was clearly made out of astonishing materials, and its destructive powers spoke wonders of its craftsmanship.

The weapon itself was much larger than Xue Chang, yet he swung it as effortlessly as swinging a twig. If one were to watch his actions, they would think the weapon held no weight, but this weapon was actually many times heavier than normal weapons.

Tian Hai had only seen this blade twice. And each time he couldn't help but be amazed at how immaculate the weapon was. It was something that completely outclassed his sword, and the sight of it alone made him green with envy.

What was worse was that the only other two times he had seen this blade used was either for butchering an animal to eat or slicing vegetables!

A weapon that could slice through stone like paper had been reduced to a cooking utensil!

A sharp gasp could be heard from Tian Kai as he exclaimed, "Look at that, it took us so much effort to deal with several dozen of these things yet Xue Chang just kills them casually while strolling through."

"Although it seems like he isn't putting in any effort, I can barely perceive that each of his movements contain a powerful intent or will. He is actually using the least amount of energy needed to deal with each and every monster The amount of skill and concentration he would need to just barely dodge their strikes and counterattack under that onslaught would be insane! It's almost as if slaughter is second nature to him."

Tian Hai couldn't help but also watch in awe. Taking in a deep breath, he thought back to his own increase in power and how prideful he felt about being able to defeat so many monsters at once.

The sight didn't discourage him in the slightest and instead gave him a goal to work toward, "Dont worry though. We will reach that level one day."

Gripping the hilt of his sword tightly, he screamed out suddenly without warning, "Just go in ahead young master! We will handle the rest here!"

Xue Chang looked back surprised at Tian Hai's sudden outburst and chuckled, "You want to deal with 'the rest'? Fine then, I'll leave them to you!"

Without another word, he shot forward past the rest of the monsters. Of course his sights were only on one thing, the demon bear!

Realizing why Xue Chang responded in such a weird way, Tian Hai couldn't help but give his own embarrassed chuckle.

He said he would handle the rest when in that short moment of time, Xue Chang had dealt with more than half of the original number of beasts. Plus the addition of the ones he and Tian Kai finished off, there really were only a handful left.

Yet this didn't mean anything to him. He said he would do something and he didn't plan to go back on his words now.

Looking at the three C rank beasts in front of him, Tian Hai raised his blade. Erasing any distracting thought from his mind, he put all of his focus on what was in front of him.

Tian Kai, seeing his brother acting in such a way, also lifted up his weapon and prepared to deal with anything else that would disturb them.

The C rank beasts, as if sensing his intent, all turned to face the swordsman directly. One of the monsters, a jet black jaguar whose body ripples with strength, roared out at him as it charged forward.

The creature's dark fur made it difficult to spot, especially now in the middle of the night. But that wasn't something Tian Hai couldn't handle.

Waving his sword around, he first struck out in order to block the creature's sudden pounce. Then without warning, he spun around and slashed his blade over at the monster's neck with pinpoint t precision.

The jaguar turned its head to the side, narrowly missing the blade while having its whiskers trimmed, and struck out with its claw in a surprise counter.

Jumping back to avoid the strike, he landed right next to another C rank beast. The emerald serpent hissed out while shooting forward to sink its poisonous fangs into his neck.

Using the face of his blade to repel the snake, Tian Hai felt a cold sweat form on his back as the weapon began to melt under the poison's corrosive effect.

Luckily, Tian Kai saw what was happening and used his spear to quickly knock the serpent away. Although these monsters were afraid of Xue Chang after his show of strength, the same could not be said for the two brothers.

They both stood back to back with each other, facing the growing number of monsters gathering around them.

The group was panicked and disoriented, making it easier for Tian Hai to deal with the C rank monsters, Tian Kai spent his time watching over the other lower ranks and making sure they couldn't get their wits about them.

Yet that all went down as facing two of the three C rank beasts was too much for Tian Hai to handle. But he wasn't down for the count yet.

"Hey, remember that little thing we've been working on?"

"Are you talking about THAT thing?! It only works theoretically. Using it now in this situation is too dangerous!"

"... so that's a yes?"

A mischievous expression could be seen forming on Tian Kai's face as he said, "Of course!"

And without pause, he hopped up onto Tian Hai's shoulders and jumped up once again even further into the air.

Tian Hai shot forward, thrusting his sword out toward the jaguar that was just facing him.

This time the monsters were not holding back. Not only did the serpent rush forward to assist the jaguar, but the wolf that was watching the battle unfold from the sidelines decided to join in this time as well.

The jaguar ducked to the side and brought its claw up toward Tian Hai's abdomen. Meanwhile the serpent snuck from below and pounced once more, aiming for his neck.

The wolf on the other hand lunged forward keeping his blade in its sights.

This creature had been living for a long time and was already used to the trickeries used by martial artists. This time it would not look away from the blade and would use its naturally strong fur to block the strike and end Tian Hai's momentum, causing him to stop in place and be ripe for the killing!

Yet things didn't go as expected. The second before the wolf and Tian Hai made contact, he brought his wrist up a little, causing the face of the blade to hit first.

The sword actually bent back with the tip almost touching his face, and with a shout, Tian Hai pushed his arms down launching himself straight into the air.

And there meeting him midair was Tian Kai!

Holding the spear by the butt of its staff, he gave off a roar as he swung forward. Tian Hai, whose feet had just landed on the tip of the spear, was launched forward again with greater momentum than ever before.

Nothing could react to his speed as he brought his blade over and with three swift yet powerful strikes, he decapitated all of the C rank monsters! His blade blazed with a shining white light forming arcs in the air like crescent moons.

As if having a mind of its own, each slash found the neck of its target and traveled in the most efficient path to dispatch them.

"Crescent Slash!"

An attack that was only usable against opponents with low intelligence like monsters. Who would expect such an insane strategy to actually be used in the midst of battle when any small variable could easily change the outcome!

Crashing into the ground with a large thud, Tian Hai felt his organs rumble in his body as he coughed out mouthfuls of blood.

The recoil of the attack wracked at his body as his flesh and skin began to rip apart. Yet it was all worth it!

This was an attack that Tian Hai and Tian Kai had come up with after many sparring matches against Xue Chang. While it wouldn't amount to much in true combat, it would certainly give him a surprise if they suddenly brought it out. After all this was a skill that was breaking into the barrier of A rank!

Because Tian Hai was the one who dealt the finishing blow, most of the recoil went to him. As such he was completely out of stamina and could no longer participate in battle. But Tian Kai still had some strength left.

"I'll leave the rest to you."

These were the last words Tian Hai said before passing out from the pain.

The spear master on the other hand just shrugged as he looked back to the cannon fodder that were left.

"My turn!"
