MARRIAGE PREPARATION 1

I was stunned for a moment then I remembered that it was this person in front of me that stopped my crush from kissing me.

I said in anger, "What the hell!? Are you nuts? Why in the fuck did you decide to spoil my sleep?"

The person just stared back at me, I couldn't help it any longer. I just blurted, "I know I'm pretty, you don't have to gawk."

The man withdrew his gaze in shock. His reaction showed that no one had ever spoke to him in that manner. I was beginning to regret my words. Seems like I'd offended someone I ought not to.

"It seems you don't know your place here." I heard a deep masculine voice that sent chilling feeling to me.

"How many times did you need to be called before you can give a response." The man continued.

It so happened that while I was asleep, dinner time came. The Emperor called her family out for dinner and she was the only one absent.

Her absence was said to be rude as she did not appear at the table. The maids assigned to her came to call her but her door was locked so they could not gain access.

They reported to the Emperor what was happening and the Emperor came to knock at her door. After knocking gently and there was no response. He grew annoyed and started banging it. Her family were already worried but didn't dare move from the table as it could create another offense that may cost their head.

I didn't respond to the question as I realized that he was the Emperor.

I quickly opened my mouth to apologize but he stopped me and said he was going to settle the scores later and I should come eat.

I just sighed and followed him. Just when we were about to reach the dining, he held my hand gently as we approached others. I was shocked.

'Was this man not supposed to be cruel? Why is he holding my hand?' I thought within myself.

I wanted out of impulse remove my hands from his hold but my mind said otherwise.

Everyone else was shocked including my family. I pretended I was okay but deep down I knew I was about to burst from tension.

I don't know why his touch was affecting me. His hands felt oddly soft against my skins. I suppressed the urge to rub my hand to feel it better.

The Emperor grinned. I caught the him grinning. Gosh, he looked charming. He pulled out the seat at his right hand, next to his and gestured me to seat shocking everyone more.

I sat and he took his seat. Everyone soon regained from the shock and resumed eating. The meal was châofàn(fried rice), soup, Peking duck, congee(rice porridge), Kung Pao chicken and vegetables like turlip, garlic and spring onions.

I focused on eating my meal. The Emperor stunned everyone again by putting more food from his plate to mine. I grew uncomfortable and he held my free hand. My eyes widened in shock.

"How are you preparing for the wedding?", he asked me breaking the uncomfortable silence.

I answered nervously, "Fine, your highness".

"Hmm, I don't want a situation of you running again." he said nonchalantly.

We finished dinner and the Emperor asked everyone to leave except for me.

"Now, it's time to settle some scores.", his voice returned back to it's chilling form.

Well, one thing I understand ever since I met this Emperor is never trust anybody and never show your weak side. Hence, my face turned cold too. I was tired of showing and pretending to be weak. I was going to show the real me. The Mi Hu everyone knew back in college.

"The last time I checked, I don't owe anyone." I replied carefree.

"Well, seems like you're the rude one" he chucked.

"Since you know you don't need to say it. If there is anything else you better spill it." I said.

I wondered why he was still calm. Of course, it was the calm before the storm. He'd get back at me and I knew it's for sure.
