Conflict

After finishing their meal, they arrived at the crossroad. Kael suddenly went still and turned his head sideways, and said in a neutral tone, "Galagar, I'm going to the library. We should separate now in case you want to go somewhere else."

While saying that, he also silently hoped that Galagar would accept his suggestion and part ways with him. Because he needs to be alone in order to explore the system further, Galagar's presence undoubtedly hindered him from studying the system as it was the secret he needed to decipher alone.

Even from his family, he'd continue to hide this matter out of their hands until he cracks the issue and concludes that it was safe for them to know.

Galagar furrowed his eyebrows while his pupils reflected a feeling of hesitation. To Kael's relief, Galagar eventually nods his head, "Library doesn't suit me. You should go alone, then."

'Yes!' Kael cheered inwardly at his successful attempt. He knew that the type of person like Galagar dislikes going to libraries. Even if that didn't work, he'd have to think of another method.

"I'll see you later then," Kael didn't forget to hand him Tanaka's lunch pack.

Watching his silhouette gradually disappear in his view, Kael breathed out relief and went to the left road, which leads toward the library based on the guide sign.

As soon as he arrived at the library, Kael didn't look surprised by how deserted the library is. At this point, what is the use of reading books?

Of course, it had not reached the point where he couldn't spot a single figure. Some people still have common sense and didn't dwell on their arrogance alone. Honing your ability is essential, but broadening your knowledge with the monster's characteristics is no less important. Most of Divergent's death cases were caused by a lack of information on their opponents and a shallow understanding of their own power.

Peering through the insides, Kael sees the uncountable bookshelves were erect inside. Slipping through the door, Kael immediately went to look around the library, trying to find a quiet place for him to execute his experiment. While wandering, he found a suitable spot for him. It was a corner spot with a few bookshelves encircling it. Grabbing a random book in one of the bookshelves, Kael headed for the area and immediately pulled a chair for himself.

Kael then opens the book on the middle page and puts it straight on the table to cover his face.

Calling the system, Kael opens the encyclopedia tab in curiosity and because of the fact that he's currently inside of a library.

A picture of giant chickens with hideous purple marks crossed over their chest emerged from the system. Below it, a description and a piece of brief information were provided.

[Mad Chicken]

[Level: 3]

[Weakness: Chest Area, precisely in the purple mark location]

[Ability: Able to fly at low-altitude using their wings.]

[Description: A mutated chicken with strength comparable to a couple of crocodiles.]

Kael then continues his reading and sees much more mutated animals with each of their respective descriptions and weaknesses. He was so immersed in his reading that he didn't realize the sun had progressively gone toward the west.

The dusk sunlight was seeping through the window, showering Kael's face ethereally. His initial blondish hair grows more golden under the rain of light. With one of his hands propped his chin, Kael's other hand keeps moving gracefully in the air, as if he was adjusting something invisible.

After what seems like an eternity, Kael let out a yawn, while his other hand subconsciously covered it. Rubbing his eyes tiredly, Kael decides to call it a day and dismisses the system in the next moment.

He felt his mind bloated up with all the knowledge he received from the system encyclopedia. Nevertheless, his face was brimming with joy. Although he didn't doubt that the military must have a similar encyclopedia, a pocket version that he can bring up anytime and anywhere was more proficient. He feels grateful to whoever created this system and wished that he could repay him/her in the future.

Rose from his seat, Kael picked the book up and returned it to its original position.

Leaving the library, Kael jogged his way around the academy to accomplish his daily task.

He passed by some buildings and other students who looked preoccupied with their own matters. His eyes were blank throughout the period. His feet kept kicking pebbles along the way.

[0/100 Sit-Ups]

[0/100 Squats]

Hearing the system notice, Kael immediately shifted his feet and began heading to a secluded place.

Shrouded by thick trees, Kael did his workout silently by first taking off his shirt and exposing his upper-body. Glistening sweat was cascading all over his bare body as he performed sit-ups. His face remained stoic in the process, while his bangs kept falling down and up due to his motion.

With him slightly panting, he managed to finish all of the quests in 10 minutes. Laying on his back, Kael watched as the sky began to turn half-dark.

[You now have 5 more available stat points]

Without bothering to check his stat points, Kael gathered all of his belongings and started to wear his shirt.

Coming out of the small secluded forest, Kael saw that the street lamp was already lit up, brightening the surrounding areas.

Despite the fact that the sun has gone into hiding, many students still stroll and fill the road with their chattering.

Like before, Kael randomly kicks pebbles that were on his way.

Suddenly, vibration starts to spread from his trouser pocket. Pulling his phone out, Kael glanced at its caller name, and tears started to pool in his eyes. Walking toward the nearby lake, Kael then takes a seat on the ground and draws his legs together. Kael hugs his knees close to his chest and accepts the call, "Hi, mom."
