Assimilation Process Now Begins

Scooping a spoonful of food to his mouth, a child with slightly chubby-rosy cheeks started chewing the food and exclaimed seconds later, "Your food is delicious as always, mom."

Wearing a small-sized cartoon printed shirt, the child had beautiful violet pupils and natural blondish hair. Without a doubt, in the future, the kid would turn into a handsome man.

"Is that so? I'm glad you like it, Kael." A woman with her blonde hair tied in a bun answered happily. Her face pretty much looks the same as Kael, the woman still has her youthful appearance intact.

The only different things were her eyes that had the color of blue-ocean. Currently, she is wearing an apron to prevent her sleeve shirt from getting stained while cooking.

"By the way, where is dad, mom?" Little Kael inquired. As he hasn't seen his dad since this morning, he becomes curious about his whereabouts.

Glancing at the clock, Kael's mother propped her face with both her hands and muttered while pouting in dissatisfaction, "He's been busy lately with his work as a new academy is about to be established."

"Academy?" Kael lifted his head in puzzlement.

"Oh? Didn't I tell you about this before?" Seeing Kael shakes his head, Kael's mother elaborated, "You know about the Meteorites Calamity that befalls on us a dozen years ago, right?"

Little Kael nodded with enthusiasm and replied, "Yup, father often tells me the story related to it. He said that many people died on that day, including children like me."

Approaching her son, Sophia couldn't help but pinch his cheek lightly, "That's my boy. After that incident, animals such as ants, flies, and even chickens began to evolve."

Gulping down his food, Little Kael chuckles nervously, "Is mother referring to the chicken I just ate?"

Staring at her son's jittery expression, Sophia replied vaguely, "Guess?"

"Mom!" Little Kael bawled at his mother's teasing.

"Alright, alright," Sophia coaxed Little Kael before adding, "I'll tell you the answer, but before that, rinse your hands and mouth first."

Nodding his head obediently, Little Kael pushed his butt forward and landed on the floor with his little feet before walking toward the sink.

After executing all his mother's orders, Little Kael went to the sofa where her mother was already waiting for him.

"Okay, now, where should I start? Hmmm..." Sophia contemplated for a moment before continuing, "Let's begin by answering your question. The answer is yes, many animals, including chickens, are evolving into monsters."

With a horrified expression, Little Kael hesitantly asked, "Then why does the chicken I eat previously look normal and tasty? Shouldn't they taste awful if they were monsters?"

"That's because not all animals turned into monsters, dear. Same as Human, with just a few who are going to evolve. Did that answer satisfy your curiosity?"

"Yes mother, then, what about the Academy?" Little Kael asked another question.

Clearing her throat, Sophia explained, "Academy is the same as regular school, but with a different purpose. Instead of offering regular educational programs, they teach you how to use your power properly."

"So, basically, it existed for nurturing, Divergents?" Little Kael thoughtfully asked.

"More or less, and your father works as the supervisor on the construction site. Hence, that's why we rarely saw him these past days." Sophia answered before adding interestedly, "Are you interested in attending the academy that your father is building?"

"Not even in the slightest." Little Kael answered immediately. He has seen a lot of news regarding Divergents who teamed up and travelled to the other continent intending to explore and reclaim the continent. However, in the end, rather than bringing a joyous victory, they returned as corpses.

Being naive as he was, he didn't wish to die early. He just wants to live a long happy life as his father and mother did.

Hearing Kael's answer, Sophia stunned a bit before letting out a chuckle, "Well, well, aren't you a weird one, Kael? Everyone dreamed about becoming a Divergent, and here you are, trying to become a normal citizen."

"It's not weird. It's called a logical move mom. It's them who are weird, who on earth wants to die early?" Little Kael refuted.

"Now, where did you learn such a nasty assumption." Sophia shakes her head in disbelief before stroking her son's head, "Anyway, your decision is all that matters. Mom and dad would always support your decision, no matter what it is. If you want to become Divergent in an unconventional way, then tell us in advance, okay?"

After years of research, humanity finally discovered another method to turn someone into Divergent. By using specific meteorite characteristics, the scientist will forcibly transfer the radiation to destined persons and make them acquire a unique power like Divergent. From it, the unconventional method was created. However, since it consumed many resources, the price is high as well. Thus, only rich people are able to afford it.

Since Kael's parents are neither rich nor poor, if Kael didn't get enough luck to be chosen by fate to be a Divergent and want to become Divergent by other means, his family needs to prepare a large amount of money to do it.

"Okay, mom." Little Kael replied, and they continued to chat until Sophia felt sleepy.

Urging his mother to sleep, Kael then goes upstairs because he had no desire to watch TV anymore.

Sitting on the chair just ahead of his study desk, Kael switched on his computer intending to play some games. As he waited for the computer's booting process, his eyes involuntarily fell upon the window that displays the view of the night sky.

Just as he was about to retract his gaze, he noticed something strange happening on the outside.

"What's that?" Kael rubbed his eyes several times to confirm what he saw was not a part of his imagination.

Leaving his chair, Kael strides toward the window and opens it to see the phenomena more clearly.

Revolving at a slow pace, a violet whirlpool was floating quietly above the sky. If it weren't for that chance, Kael would not have noticed this phenomenon because of its small size.

However, unlike a typical whirlpool that sucked everything into its mouth. This whirlpool didn't even devour the bird who flies past it. This makes Kael frown his eyebrows in confusion as he did not know what that purple whirlpool purpose was.

Suddenly, his eyes saw the vortex increase its rotational rate as if it wanted to vomit something.

Then, as he had guessed, something was thrown out of the wormhole. That thing quickly moved in a flash toward his direction.

Because Kael's mind was still processing about the phenomena, he couldn't move his limbs in time and ended up getting hit by whatever struck him.

At the same time that Kael gets hit by the unknown object, a man dressed in a somewhat fancy mage robe stepped out from the vortex. Majestic aura shrouded his whole body, giving an imagination nothing can obstruct this man from achieving anything he wants.

Glancing in Kael's direction, his face is devoid of any expression.

He remains motionless for a minute before muttering faintly, "The future is in your hands."

After saying that, he directly went to the vortex and vanished along with the vortex. The skies retain their serenity once again.

Meanwhile, Kael, who had been hit by the object, passed out instantly. The only thing he remembers was an apathetic voice that rings inside his ears, "Assimilation process now begins."
