CHAPTER 6

After Hiccup left the others he went to the forge. He took out his book with night fury drawing and drew the other tail fin he rubbed off before nodding and getting to work.

He first lit the forge before taking a scrap sword blade heating it until red hot before turning it into a rod and cooling it repeating the same process 4 more times.

He then removes the screws from a shield before making them smaller and lighter weighing them just to make sure before combining all of them together with leather and finishing the prosthetic tail fin.

Hiccup was so focused on his work that he didn't see Hela who was standing at the door watching him work and she had to admit he was almost as good as her almost.

"So this is where you were hiding," Hela said frightening Hiccup that he dropped the prosthetic before he started to panic as he started to hide the night fury drawing behind him.

"H-Hela wh-what are you doing here," Hiccup said stuttering as Hela walked in and picked up the prosthetic he dropped making him panic even more.

"What's this thing," Hela asked with a fake confused look, ' you're too easy Hiccup' Hela thought seeing him think of a lie.

"I-it's umm, it's a pr-prototype o-of a ship's sail yeah, b-but it's not finished so," Hiccup said.

"Hiccup you are terrible at lying but I have to admit that would have worked on anyone else just not me I know you too well," Hela said and Hiccup audible gulped. Hela handed him the tail fin before walking to the still-lit forge and picking up a lump of hot coal not feeling the heat at all only a bit of warmth, "So when were you going tell me about your little friend at the cove"

"What," Hiccup said surprised.

"Don't be so surprised little brother I usually train near the cove so it was only a matter of time before I stumbled upon him," Hela told with a smile.

"What did you do with toothless" Hiccup asked worriedly.

"What do you take me for, I'm not a monster Hiccup. I'm just a little disappointed that you didn't tell me since you tell me everything but I get it with a title like Dragon's bane I'd be cautious as well" Hela says making Hiccup sigh in relief but also feeling a bit guilty for not trusting his big sister with his secret since she is the only person in the village that doesn't think of him as useless.

"I'm sorry for hiding toothless from you of all people," Hiccup said.

"Hey, like I said I understand and it was a good thing to be cautious even of me," Hela said making Hiccup smile before he Hugs his older sister happy to have a great sister like her.

They separate after a few minutes and Hela made a face, "plus did you name him toothless before or after you saw his retractable teeth?" She asked surprising Hiccup.

"How do you know about that," Hiccup asked and Hela smirked.

"You are not the only Haddock with a Night fury as a friend," Hela says as she turns around and heads for the door leaving behind a shocked Hiccup. Hela stops at the door before walking toward her workspace and opening where she keeps her unfinished projects. She takes out the newly finished saddle for Troels before walking out of the forge.

"She wasn't kidding," Hiccup said still shocked that his sister has a Dragon of her own and night fury at that.

The next day, Hiccup went to the cove with a basket full of fish his mind still reeling with what Hela said last night. He shakes his head as enters the cove and walks towards Toothless who was on the other side.

"Hey Toothless, I got you some breakfast, I hope your hungry," Hiccup says as he puts down the basket with Toothless sniffing the air smelling the fish. Hiccup kicks down the basket spilling the fish on the ground.

"Ok that's disgusting, I've got some salmon, some Icelandic code and a whole smoked eel, " Hiccup says listing the fish he got for Toothless. Toothless starts growling one Hiccup says eel, Hiccup picks it up and Toothless moves away as hisses in fear, "No no no it's ok" Hiccup was as he throws it away, "Yeah, I don't like eel much either"

After that Toothless starts eating and Hiccup moves slowly towards Toothess's tail. He kneels down next to it as he lines the prosthetic tail fin with the tail. He moves it forward but the tail moves away slightly making Hiccup look Toothless and sees him almost done eating so he moves again but the tail moves away, he tries again but the tail jerks upwards.

"No no, it's ok," Hiccup says as he tries to hold down the tail to no avail until Toothless puts his head in the basket does Hiccup start to strap the prosthetic on Toothless. Toothless's ears perk up as he feels Hiccup doing something with his tail, the basket falls from his face as he wiggles his tail a bit and moves around his good tail fin with a face that says ' what is this hooman doing with my tail' until the realisation hit him and he makes a shocked face before spreading out his wings and takes off with Hiccup still on his tail literally.

Hela and Troels reach the cove just in time to see Toothless falling back down with Hiccup on his tail.

"Hiccup you idiotic brother of mine open the tail fin" Hela shouts and Hiccup does so just in time before they hit the ground and Toothless flies up without a problem making Hela laugh in joy that it worked. Toothless circles back into the cove before hearing Hiccup's joyful laugh on his so he takes a sharp turn and flings Hiccup into the water and with no one holding the tail fin open he also falls into the water.

Troels lands in the cove and Hela gets off of him and runs to her brother who was getting out of the water she checks him for any injuries and sighs in relief when she finds none.

"Did you see that it works" Hiccup says in excitement still high from the rush of adrenaline.

"Yeah, I saw you, idiot but that tail fin needs to be open for him to fly," Hela tells him bringing his mood down as he realises she's right. He looks at where Toothless was a second ago he looks around and finds him jumping around and sniffing another bigger night fury, with red eyes, scales darker than the night sky.

"Whoa," Hiccup says with wide eyes and a shocked face. Hela looks at the two dragons and chuckles when Troels blows air at Toothless's face who shakes his head and sneezes with Troels walking away towards Hela and Hiccup.

"Well Hiccup this is Troels, Troels this is Hiccup my younger brother," Hela says as she introduces the two to each other. Troels tilts his head since Hiccup does have the same scent as his queen but they don't look the same.

"Yeah, we get that a lot," Hela says as she pats Hiccup's head who looks at the two confused.

"This must be Toothless," Hela says as she looks at the younger night fury who bowed his head once their eyes met while Hiccup answered with a yes. Hela walked up to Toothless and starts inspecting him.

"Well except for the tail fin and the scar on his neck I'd say he's a young healthy night fury," Hela says and Toothless holds his head high making her chuckle, "Yes, you are a handsome boy," Hela says as Toothless start jumping around excitedly while Hiccup looks at his sister in confusion, ' Can she understand them? No maybe I'm overthinking it'
