Moonlight City (2)

Karl felt cold, dizzy and distant to the gravity, warping from one place to another place had a toll on a person, especially true for the first timers. It felt like to be in water and swimming but the distance wasn't crossed by the body, the water led you on to great distance in mere seconds and that's what Karl experienced when warping through the teleporter, as the destination got nearer it felt slower and slower until a bright and warm light appeared in front of Karl, he was pushed towards the bright light by the water like forces in the void, reaching his destination, Moonlight City.

'Cough' Karl gasped for air in the panic, felt dizzy and slipped down, that's when a hand, soft delicate hand caught him from falling on the ground.

"Easy there, breathe in and out, long deep breath" said the young women carrying Karl by one hand.

Karl did as advised and started to feel better. "Thank you" Karl said standing on his own looking at the person who had saved him from falling. "You! But I am in moonlight city, right?" Karl said looking at the young women once again who had helped him to move through the teleporter.

"Yes, what is it? The young women asked.

Karl told her about how he had met her before, while talking Karl noticed some differences, the hair style was different, the color of the uniform differed from before, and the voice sounded different too.

" you're just mistaken, sir, my name is Sriel, the women you met was my sister, She and I both operate a teleport station and now if you like I can escort you outside to the city." Sriel said taking Karl out of the building and on the streets of the moonlight city and going back inside. Karl had some doubts about sriel but they soon vanished as he got distracted by the streets of moonlight city.

Karl stepped on the busy streets of the moonlight city, people were everywhere around him, moving on foot, riding the air bikes, traveling on mutated animals double the size of humans.

Karl smelled the street food which led him to a stall near the teleportation station. Karl saw the meat sizzling on the on fire which made him drool. Karl quickly bought some meat with some credits and immediately stated to eat. The rich taste of the meat spread inside Karl's mouth as he eat more and more, after finishing he asked the shop owner what it was.

"That was some bears balls, boy. You certainly enjoyed them." The shopkeeper said.

Karl's happy stomach turned upside down when he heard what he just ate.

"It's not actual bear's ball, boy they are just shaped as balls made out of bear meat." The shopkeeper said looking at the Karl. "By the way, I have never seen a person come out of the station and not being a rich snob and eating at my shop."

Karl told him that he had come to moonlight city for entrance examination for magic academy and due to the hurry had to use most of his money for teleportation.

"If you don't know, the exam is held at the centre of the city." The shopkeeper told Karl.

"Thank you very much" Karl said "there is one thing bugging me" Karl told the shopkeeper about sriel and could immediately tell that he knew something.

"You don't know" the shopkeeper said "well, nobody knows really but everyone in the city have their own idea about her you know, she is on every military station on earth, some say it is an ability of a higher up military official, some say that it's just a big family of same looking sister or something else entirely and that she is the only reason for safe teleportation unlike before her time but whatever it is it's still a mystery that only handful of people know about."

Karl never thought that there were more of sriel out there operating a different station.

Karl once again thanked the shopkeeper and moved his way to the centre of the city where the examinations were held. Karl passed huge skyscrapers, small shops, and shops selling weapons, Food, parts of beasts and many more. After half- hour Karl reached the place of examination.

Karl entered the building which held a sigh identifying it as the place of examination. Karl saw several lines formed inside the building connecting to desks.

Karl joined one of the lines and waited for his turn, which soon came along.

"Name"

"Karl locklan"

"Age"

"16"

"Any recommendation letter"

"No"

The administrator then checked if Karl had any mana inside him through a device.

"3,000 credits"

"For what?" Karl said.

"For registration and this badge" the administrator said showing a thick circular plate to Karl. Karl transferred the money for registration fee. "Where is the exam hall?" Karl asked looking around the place.

"There is no examination hall; exam will start after registration ends, which is today." The administrator said. "And don't ask about where the exam will be held because I don't know and the only thing I know is that you got to use the badge to pass the exam" the administrator said giving Karl the thick circular plate with a exhausted look as if he had repeated this over and over again.

Karl got out of the building, confused. He didn't knew what to do now. "He said that the examination will start after the registrations are over and today is the last date for it. Maybe tomorrow I will get some clue about the exam through this badge." Karl said looking at the badge which held the symbol of unity between all the human powerhouses including the military.

Karl didn't think much further about it and started to look for a cheap place to stay for today in the city which he soon found out. Karl payed for a single night and dinner which would be delivered to his room at dinner time.

Karl jumped on to the bed of his room, tied and sleepy; he wanted to sleep but instead chose to once again use the skill dragon's eye.
