The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 71:

"is rushing up her healing process a good idea?" I casually leaned on the wall and watched Darya do her thing.

It has been eight days since we had rescued her from Hellen and Darya has been giving her special potions to help her heal faster.

Though she had opened her eyes four days ago, she still can't sit on her own or talk for that matter, all she could do was to observe.

Her eyes are a bit brighter and the dark circles are still there but going away, her skin is having a bit of color or at least more than when we rescued her.

She's been eating though what she takes in isn't enough to satisfy a bunny yet we don't push her any more than she can go.

As for her wounds, they're being treated with special ointments but the one on her back is where the main problem is.

It's healing slower than all her other injuries.

The crystal still hasn't fully regained its powers.

At times I wonder what goes on in her head at this point and if she will try to bring me closer to her.

Everyone has attempted to feed her except Sam.

He still doesn't have the courage to look her in the eyes and apologize no matter how much the girls urge him.

Anyways, they've all fed her and she ate as little as she could from them but whenever I try, she won't so much as open her mouth.

I know she still hasn't totally warmed up to me but I thought maybe we would at least be where we were before all this happened.

Imogen and Eri have been saying that it's only a matter of time but I feel it'll more than that, a whole lot more.

"well this is how it has to be. With the way things are, letting her heal naturally will slow us down if not, we would have let her heal at her own pace" she sat at the edge of the bed, gently massaging her hand.

I watched Lyra's lips try to move into a smile.

It was difficult but she did try.

She was getting better faster than anyone of us had hoped.

"alright time to eat" Eri danced into the room with a bowl of food in her hands.

"right on time, Cyrus could you help me sit her up?" Darya asked as I made my way over to the bed.

My arms moved to touch her shoulder but to my surprise, her smile had died and she flinched like I was going to smack her, she was also as stiff as a board.

This had never happened before, though I had made no attempts to touch her while awake before.

Everyone else noticed it and I could tell they all felt bad for me…I mean who wouldn't?

"why don't you hold the food and I'll help lift her up" Eri broke the uncomfortable silence, passing the plate over to me.

Lyra's facial expressions began to soften as Eri moved closer, anyone could see she was beginning to relax and my chest began to hurt.

The thought of her never warming to me hurt like nothing I've ever felt.

Desperation and sadness began to set in.

I didn't know when I had left the room.

Eri's POV:

I had honestly felt bad for Cyrus; he's trying so hard to change for Lyra but she doesn't want him anywhere near her.

It's been two weeks since…everything and so far she's able to speak, though her voice isn't loud, it's audible enough.

"E-Eri?" she called my name and I turned to face her.

She had healed a great deal and is even going as far as trying to move on her own.

She's never alone when she does it though.

Everyone takes turns to talk with her in case she stumbles or falls.

She also enjoys staying in the gardens, sitting on the grass and taking in fresh air and enjoying all the wonders of nature around her.

"yes?" I smiled and pulled a chair closer to the edge of the bed, our knees were slightly brushing each other.

Just as she was about to speak, there was a knock at the door and Sam walked through.

"Eri, Rayhan wants to see you" he said, totally avoiding eye contact with Lyra, he was pretending like he couldn't see her or like she doesn't exist.

I looked at him with concern.

Everyone knows he regrets his actions but he still has to face Lyra sooner or later.

"o-oh of course" I stood and walked out the door but not before telling him to stay with her.

That statement was enough to make hi beg but it was time; he couldn't keep on running away from this issue.

I couldn't help but silently thank Rayhan for sending Sam to me.

Now to see what he actually wants.

Sam's POV:

It had been roughly thirty minutes since Eri had left me alone with Lyra.

No matter how much the words wanted to come out...they couldn't.

I silently prayed Eri would come back soon but the fact that she was going to be with Rayhan, it was unlikely.

Another sigh escaped my mouth as I turned to face the door, hoping someone would come in and take my place.

"S-Sam?" her small voiced called out my name and I turned to look at her for the first time since she was rescued.

The difference was quite noticeable as she looked alive again and not drained out of all the blood in her.

"W-why? W-W-Why d-did yo-you-" I couldn't let her finish her sentence.

My legs had a mind of their own and I didn't realize when I was sitting just in front of her.

"please don't say it" I bowed my head in shame and regret.

"Lyra, nothing would ever make me harm you intentionally. It wasn't my doing. If I had a way to save both of you I would even…even if it meant sacrificing my life. I wished none of this had happened" my voice began to shake.

She didn't say anything neither did she look me in the eye so I took it as an opportunity to continue.

Tears began to sting my eyes but I continued regardless.

"the words sorry don't seem like they're enough to justify what I did. I am so sorry and ashamed of what I did. I don't know if you'll ever forgive me or if I can ever make it up to you but I'll-" I was cut short when she dragged me into a hug.

My shoulder was wet as her tears soaked my shirt.

Lyra's grip tightened slightly while I was still processing everything that's happening.

"h-how could you forgive me so easily? After everything I've done" my arms found their way around her body and pulled her close.

"i-it wasn't y-y-your fault. I was j-j-just sad yo-you d-d-didn't tell an-anyone" Lyra forced the words out as much as she could.

"s-so-sorry about your s-si-sister" she released her grip and left a hand on my shoulder.

"she would have loved you; all of you. I just hope she can find peace in the afterlife" I sighed.

"e-ev-everything is go-going t-to be f-fi-fine. Y-you have us as y-yo-your f-f-family" her smile grew wider.

Just then, the rest of the group walked in with smiles on their faces.

I had distanced myself from everyone except Jackie for the most part.

"see she didn't bite" Tamar laughed, ruffling my hair like I was a child.

"now we can learn to grow together again" Jackie smiled and I smiled back at her.

Lyra was right.

This is my new family and I would do anything to protect them, no matter the cost.

So between: Leon, Levi and Liam which sounds the best with each other (like twin names) and amongst your choices which sounds more rebellious? I need your answers for my next book.
