The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 70:

"move everyone! Coming through!" I pushed everyone out of my way as Darya led us into her cave.

Everyone and I mean everyone was there waiting for Lyra to be brought in.

"will she be ok?" Eri asked; worry and distress laced in her voice.

If I'm being honest, I was just as scared as she was but there was no way I was going to let it show or she would have a breakdown.

"I don't know; let Darya do her thing and save her" she led us through the cave to a spot that had water; like a pond and there were shelves with potions on the wall.

"I don't think I can do this alone; Eri, I need your help, Cyrus place her into the water" I did as I was told without any objection and watched her body sink to an extent.

The water was lukewarm to the touch.

"she isn't meant to take this much damage; her crystal was weakened"

Taking a few steps back, Eri took her place at the bank of the water while Darya was grabbing potions and books from the shelves without reading them.

"do everything you can to save her; she's our only hope" Nicolai begged and I couldn't agree more.

After setting everything she needed at the bank; Darya opened the book to a particular page and began pouring potions into the water.

With every vial she poured in, it made the water react differently, bringing new colors and textures into it.

At times the reaction would seem harmful or toxic to come in contact with flesh and I was hoping to see Lyra at least flinch in pain but she didn't.

"chant this" Darya frantically turned the pages and handed the book to Eri who read what was written and began chanting while she continued to turn the vials into the pond.

After a while she stopped and waited for a reaction.

The tension in the air was thicker than anything.

We were all desperate to see anything no matter how little or swift it would be; just a sign.

Then, something began to come out from her skin, it looked greenish and was really thick.

Darya used magic to remove the liquid from the inside and force it out.

No sooner than it came out, I saw her twitch.

"it's working" Eri almost wept with relief.

We waited a little while and her fingers began to jerk.

"she's stabilizing!" Darya kept on dunking more vials into the water and we all watched in silence.

Then she stopped suddenly.

The silence was deafening.

If I were human, heart would beat out of my chest.

Lyra jerked to sit up and began to cough, with everything she's been through, sudden movements would leave her dizzy.

Just as she was about to fall into the water again, I caught her and let her head fall to my chest, eyes shut.

Her body wasn't as cold as before but it wasn't good enough.

When her eyes jutted open this time they were black…like an endless void.

I stared into its emptiness and worried that I would never see her beautiful eyes again.

If she remains like this, then I don't know what I'd do.

Her hair was also darker than before.

She exhaled before blinking and everything went back to normal.

Her breathing was better now.

It startled me a bit when she snuggled closer to my chest, slightly tugging my shirt.

"she'll be fine, all she needs is time to heal" Darya whispered and I couldn't help but bring her body closer to mine.

Lyra is strong; I know she'll make it.

She has to.

......................…

Dark circles under her eyes, her once vibrant hair was now dull same goes for the crystal.

Everything about her had changed.

Her powers made her healing process faster.

Darya said it could be faster but the potion used to weaken the crystal's power needed to ware off first.

I was always checking on her, making sure everything was alright though she would sometimes have night terrors and scream; when she does, I'm always the first to come to her aid.

How long was she going to be like this?

How long will it take before she goes back to normal?

I would rather have her hating me than…this.

"Cyrus? You're lost in thought again. You have nothing to worry about" Merah pulled me out of my thoughts.

I was with her, her husband and Darya and we were all sipping wine.

Nicolai advised me to take my mind away from Lyra and leave her to the maids.

"s-sorry just…thinking" I pinched the bridge of my nose and let out a frustrated sigh.

"don't worry as soon as she gets better, it'll be like none of this ever happened" Nicolai assured me but as I was about to pick up my drink, I noticed Sam out of the corner of my eye.

He was about to scurry away before I called out for him and watched as he timidly approached the table.

Now that I think about it, he was in a difficult position and knowing that he was dealing with Hellen then there really was no way out.

"I'm sorry for everything I've said about you; I should have been more open minded but with the situation then-"

"it's alright. No harm done" he gave a small smile before it got really awkward.

"just relax, soon enough we can put all this behind us" Darya laughed taking down more wine.

Just then, the young boys face paled, like he had been scared to death, thankfully I wasn't the only one who noticed it.

"what's the matter" Nicolai asked with no form of joy in his tone.

"it doesn't end here. A storm is coming" he was barely audible, even for me.

"what do you mean a storm? Speak up boy" Merah said almost angrily.

"when I made my escape, I overheard Hellen talking with a dark witch about her powers and the wings she wanted to get from Lyra. The witch said after everything was done, it would take roughly six months to heal and learn about her new abilities properly. Hellen swore that as soon as the six months was up, she and the demon king would conquer every kingdom, including the land of light and make the world theirs to rule"

Merah sulked into her chair, desperation written all over her face; Nicolai ran his fingers through his hair and sighed in frustration, Darya sat in utter silence.

This was bad; really, really bad.

"what are we going to do? We can't stay out of it she knows how to get to Noie; everyone will be affected but we can't stop them by ourselves we need help" Merah tried to maintain her composure but failed woefully.

"we normally don't get involved with the troubles of the outside world but seeing as she is going to have the Khamatu's powers, then it leaves us no choice" Darya turned to look at the King

"we need to put all our differences aside and fight together if we want to win this upcoming war" I stood from my chair and placed both hands on the table.

"I know it won't be easy but we have no other choice. We need to start preparing troops and train even harder-"

"plus, we need to help Lyra with her recovery, we'll need her now more than ever"

The thought of her fighting was the last thing I wanted to imagine but there was no other way

Nicolai was silent before standing.

"gather the troops, send word to ever leader, go as far as the kingdom of light…tell them…we need to prepare ourselves for war"…
