31. Getting Settled

Noticing all the people in front of the house greeting the Kamizato family members was really surprising. The house front looked like the common old Japanese houses with a sliding door to enter. The house was not particularly big in height but was rather lengthy. It seemed like the whole house was built with wood and looked very neat. It gave a sense of peace and tranquility.

As I continued to notice the surroundings I felt a hand on my shoulder turning back and noticed Shirogana-san standing behind looking at me with a smile.

He asked me with a smile, "Come on Rei. Why are you still standing here? Come let's go." He held my hand and slowly took me with him towards the crowd. I felt nervous being led by him but didn't say anything.

Noticing Shirogana-san coming, they all turned their attention towards us. I felt a little scared wondering why they are looking at us. Unconsciously I slowly hid behind him. As we reached there, Shirogana-san introduced me, "This is Toujou Rei and he will be living with us from now. Please take care of him."

They all nodded and then the old man came in front of me and kneeled. With a smile he said, "Oh! you must Tensei's boy. I knew your father. He used to come to our house to play with Shirogana and Narumi every time."

I was shocked to hear his words. I knew Shirogana-san was a friend of dad's but I never knew even Narumi-san knew him since childhood. I turned my head and looked at Narumi-san who was also looking at me with a smile on her face.

I turned my attention back to the old man in front of me and said, "My name is Toujou Rei. Please take care of me."

He laughed a bit and patted my shoulders saying, "Nice to meet you Rei. My name is Takigawa Shidou. I am Narumi's father, you can call me an old man, that was how your father used to call me, hahaha" laughing at the end.

I then smiled a bit and nodded. We all made our way inside the house. The interior was rather very peaceful and gave a calm atmosphere. The old man asked some of the people to show our rooms. They lead us through the halls and my eyes continued to roam around as we went. It was like a movie, there were swords and paintings in the house. Various types of antique stuff filled the hallway.

We stopped and she started to show our rooms. Narumi-san's was quite far from ours. There were around 2 rooms in between. Mine and Sora were beside each other and Meiko's was the opposite of Sora. I entered my room and it was very simple.

It had a sliding door to enter inside and reaching inside, the floor was made by tatami mats. There was one study table with a chair and also a bed. There was also a medium size table in square shape if people want to sit down to use. Overall the room was very simple.

Some people then brought my luggage inside which was not much. It was only two bags and my catcher kit. I placed the kit inside one of the closet's last row. I also neatly arranged all my clothes in the closet and kept my two photo frames on the study table. I felt some satisfaction from the work and sat down on the bed. As I saw my room I noticed it looked a bit too empty. Well, it's justifiable as I did not have !any things to bring. But it was ok as people say, 'Simplicity is the best'.

I stood up and went to Sora's room right beside mine and knocked on the door.

I heard his voice on the other side, " Who is it?"

I cleared my voice and replied, "It's me Rei."

He then opened the door and said, "Oh! It's you, Rei. Do you need anything."

I shook my head and said, "No, I wondered if you need any help in sorting out as mine is done."

He felt surprised and said, "Your's is done already."

I nodded and he said, "Ok then come inside and help."

I went inside and the room was a complete disaster. The bags we're all opened and everything was out of them. I turned back to him and noticed he was just smiling. I shook my head felling helpless about him.

I took a deep breath and said, "Ok then let's first keep all your clothes in the closets."

He nodded and we got to the work. We kept all the clothes in neat order. We then went our way to the baseball stuff he brought from home. I then told him to keep all the trophies in a box and keep it to the side of the room. He looked a bit reluctant to do so but complied in the end. After that, we kept all the posters hp in the room and kept his kit to the side of the room beside the closet.

We looked around the room and noticed it was much neater compared to before. We both nodded our heads in satisfaction and sat on the bed. Then the door opened and Meiko came in. She looked around with a surprised face and exclaimed, "Sora you already sorted your room out."

He nodded and pointed out to my direction and said, "Yes, Rei helped me."

She then nodded and said, "Ok then Let's go have lunch Oji-san is calling."

We nodded and then went outside and made our way towards the dining room.
