The next morning, Yue Ling arrived at the Mo company, determined to submit her resignation letter. As she walked in, she felt the weight of everyone's gaze upon her, as if she had done something wrong. The most piercing stare came from Jessica Wilson, the managing director, who had always been hostile towards Yue Ling. Jessica's beauty and curves only seemed to accentuate her disdain.
Yue Ling ignored the tension and made her way to Mr. Ho's office from the HR office, where she intended to submit her resignation. As she approached, she noticed Jessica lingering around Mo Shira's office, trying to catch a glimpse of him. Yue Ling overheard Mo Shira and Hu Wuting discussing her resignation, and Jessica's expression transformed from disdain to delight.
However, her joy was short-lived, as Hu Wuting advised Mr. Ho not to accept Yue Ling's resignation letter, suggesting that Mo Shira would handle it personally. Jessica's face darkened with anger, and she shot Yue Ling a venomous glare, but Yue Ling remained unfazed.
With a calm demeanor, Yue Ling entered Mr. Ho's office and greeted him. "Good morning, Mr. Ho. How are you?"
Mr. Ho replied, "I'm fine, thank you. And you?"
Yue Ling smiled. "I'm absolutely fine. I've come to submit my resignation letter."
Mr. Ho's expression turned sympathetic.
Mr Ho: I'm sorry Miss Yue, but I can't accept your resignation letter.
Yue Ling could not even believe her ears,
Yue Ling: you can't accept my letter, but why, I don't get you,
Mr Ho: miss Yue, it will be better if you speak to sir.
Yue Ling: that stupid man is always troubling me, I will definitely deal with him, she said why pouting her lips.
Mr Ho: I'm sorry, but did you say something?
Yue Ling: "oh_" it's nothing .
Mr Ho; alright.
Yue Ling: I'll go see the boss first.
(Yue Ling bursts into Mo Shira's office, slamming the door open)
Mo Shira: (furrowing his brows) What's the meaning of this?
Yue Ling: (dropping the resignation letter on his desk) Here's my resignation letter. I want it accepted now.
Mo Shira: (expressionless) So you still haven't changed. If Mr. Ho won't accept your letter, how can I?
Yue Ling: (accusingly) I know you told him not to accept it.
Mo Shira: (feigning surprise) Oh, Miss Yue, why would I do that? I've been trying to make you leave, and now that you want to leave, why would I stop you?
Yue Ling: (pausing, then turning to face him) I know you did. But I'll find a way to quit.
Mo Shira: (smiling briefly, then reverting to his normal expression) Did you say something? Never mind. Go to your office and start work. And please, stop wearing such clothes to work. They don't suit you.
Yue Ling: (looking down at her outfit, a turtle-neck black shirt and long skirt) What's wrong with my clothes?
(She had worn the outfit to cover her skin, which had become red and sore from the scrubbing yesterday, she didn't want anyone to see it.)
Mo Shira: (dismissively) Nothing. Just go.
she didn't know what else to say, so she left to her office.
Mo Shira's smile grew wider as he gazed at Yue Ling's retreating figure. "I'll make sure you fall for me, Miss Yue," he whispered to himself.
Just then, Hu Wuting burst in without knocking, his eyes widening in surprise. "Boss, you're... smiling?" He couldn't believe his eyes. Just moments ago, Yue Ling had left, and now Mo Shira was beaming.
But Mo Shira's expression turned cold again as soon as he saw Hu Wuting. "Yes, I called you. Have you made arrangements for me to move to Mountain Lake?"
Hu Wuting nodded. "Yes, boss. Everything is set."
Mo Shira nodded. "Good. I'll be living there from today. What are my schedules for today?"
Hu Wuting checked his notes. "There's a board meeting in 30 minutes to discuss the new project, and a lunch meeting with Mr. Shen."
Mo Shira's eyes narrowed. "That's all? Tell Yue Ling to prepare for the board meeting. She'll be in charge."
Hu Wuting's eyes widened in surprise but he nodded. "Okay, sir."
Here is a rewritten version of the conversation with some minor adjustments for clarity and flow:
Hu Wuting approached Yue Ling's desk, looking serious. "Yue Ling, boss wants you to know that you're in charge of the board meeting today."
Yue Ling's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Why me?"
Hu Wuting shrugged. "No idea, but boss said you're preparing the presentation and leading the meeting."
Yue Ling sighed, but her mind raced back to her earlier preparation. She had anticipated Mo Shira's move and had prepared the presentation beforehand.
With a deep breath, she dove into the system, making last-minute adjustments. Time flew by, and before she knew it, she was running late for the meeting. She quickly gathered her papers and rushed out the door, her heart pounding in her chest.
------------
THE BOARD MEETING
The meeting room was a spacious hall with neat chairs and a long table, adjacent to a small office for presenters to prepare. The board members were already seated, waiting for Mo Shira, his assistant, and secretary.
Minutes ticked by, and Mo Shira entered, followed by Hu Wuting. Mo Shira took his seat, with Hu Wuting sitting to his right. The chair opposite Hu Wuting, meant for Yue Ling, remained empty.
Mo Shira knew she was delaying her arrival to pressure him into signing her resignation letter, but he had no intention of giving in.
As the board members grew restless, Mo Shira considered asking them to wait a bit longer. But before he could speak, a voice broke the silence...
