My eyes fluttered open to a deafening bang, jolting me from slumber. Groggily, I reached for my bedside table to check the time. 4:00 AM glared back at me, taunting me with its eerie silence. I swung my legs over the side of the bed, my feet searching for the floor like a blind person's cane. The darkness outside seemed to press against my windows, making my heart race.
Stumbling through the darkness, I followed the sound to its source. My eyelids still heavy with sleep, I pushed open the door, and a chill ran down my spine. Suddenly, my eyes snapped wide open, and I froze. The scene before me was like nothing I could have prepared for. My mind reeled, struggling to process the horror that lay before me. Time seemed to stand still as I stood there, paralyzed with fear. What was happening?....
*MY STORY*
For the past two years, I've been living with my uncle, Yue Jinnan, and his family at the Yue mansion. My uncle has taken over as the head of the household, followed by his wife, Lee Wan, and their children, Yue Fang and Yue Rong. Yue Fang serves as the Acting CEO of the Yue company until I come of age to take over at 20. Yue Rong, a stunning actress with captivating curves, works for a prominent entertainment company in Country D.
Before my parents passed away, I was studying business at Harvard University, where I excelled and graduated at 16 thanks to my intelligence and scholarships. My dad, then CEO of the Yue corporation, threw a surprise party to celebrate my return home. He announced me as his successor, to take over at 20, unaware of the envy and resentment from my uncle and cousin Yue Fang. Despite my initial disinterest in business, I grew to appreciate it, and my dad's persuasion led me to pursue it. I even developed a passion for it.
After the party, my dad and uncle's relationship appeared to strengthen, masking my uncle's hidden anger and jealousy. Unbeknownst to us, my uncle's family harbored intense hatred towards us. Interestingly, I was close friends with Yue Rong, often helping her with acting roles and offering advice. Although I had once dreamed of being a model in the entertainment industry, I put that aside to please my parents. Yue Fang, on the other hand, treated me like a sister, offering guidance and insights into the company. Little did I know that their kindness was just an act, deserving of an Oscar.
Two years later, tragedy struck when my parents were involved in a fatal accident. I was returning from the office with Yue Fang when I received the devastating news. Overcome with shock, I fainted and remained unconscious for a month. Upon regaining consciousness, I was brought back home to a harsh reality. My uncle and his family had taken over our mansion, and their indifference towards me was palpable. Even Yue Fang, whom I once respected, treated me with disdain.
I was met with a cruel surprise when I found my belongings thrown out of my room and the door locked. A maid informed me that Yue Rong would be occupying my room from then on. Enraged, I confronted my family, but my aunt's response was a slap and a harsh warning: I had no rights in the house, and speaking out would result in dire consequences.
Heartbroken and feeling betrayed, I retreated to the guest room, locked myself in, and wept. The pain of losing my parents was still fresh, and now I faced the harsh reality of being ostracized by my own family. Days passed, and I struggled to come to terms with my new situation.
One morning, I found a sealed red envelope in my luggage, but my growling stomach forced me to prioritize breakfast. I helped the maids prepare the meal and ate hastily before returning to my room. As I arranged my belongings, I felt a sense of desperation wash over me.
Just then, my aunt stormed into my room, her eyes blazing with anger. She grabbed my hair, tossed me out of bed, and yelled at me to get to work. Yue Fang appeared, his eyes cold and unforgiving, and reminded me that I was now a mere maid in the household. I was left speechless, forced to endure the cruelty of my family. With no mercy shown, I was treated worse than a maid, often going hungry and living in constant fear.
