The other base is compromised!

Leroy immediately stops his attacks on me and turns to face the front door, where the sound was coming from. He then turns back to face me once more, delivering a huge strike to my left cheek before turning and rushing towards the direction he looked at.

It was great that I anticipated his attacks beforehand and decided to deactivate my overflowing demonic body, it would have been bad for my performance if he realized that his punches didn't work on me.

But it seems like they have a guest. Based on what I detected, I'm sensing a person with high mana density just above the base. It is the accomplice? Or is it that a professor has caught on?

The latter seems highly unlikely since their acting alone, and based on the fact they got into the base by themselves, it seems to be the former.

I wonder if I should just continue to just sit here and play along for a while more or should I just break out and check out this place.

After a few moments of thinking I came to a conclusion.

Nah I'll just stay here just in case they have something else to show me.

"Hahhh Hahhhh."

At the entrance of the underground secret base a woman is panting as she makes her way down to the bottom floor.

She is covered in long tattered white clothes and has freshly cut wounds all over her body staining her white clothing red. The woman has long black hair and dark red eyes that seem to mimic the color of cherries.

As she stumbles further into the base, she continues to pant with every step while holding her right hand over the large wound just below her heart. It looked like she had nearly escaped death with that wound, because if it was any closer, her entire heart could have been blown away.

Moments later she hears the sound of footsteps approaching ever so closely.

"Miss Agatha you should have told me you were coming!"

Says the old man in a purple robe.

"Your wounds miss!"

But before he could say anything else, the lady in front of him collapsed and the old man's face was filled with horror.

He signals the young man beside him to support her and he too rushes to her side. They both hurry and carry the injured lady into a room filled with all sorts of gadgets.

The two men were Leroy and his master.

As Leroy was looking through shelf after shelf for recovery potions, his master was trying to perform healing magic.

The other lackeys and workers came in to inspect on the situation but they were yelled at by Leroy and went on their merry way back to their respective jobs.

A few minutes pass and the lady is nearly nursed back to normal. As she opens her eyes, she finds herself lying on a unfamiliar bed and immediately jumps up to face the old man on her right.

"Wanfi, the chimeras, where are they?!"

Agatha sounds distressed and frenzied, like a woman who has just lost her mind. This shocked Wanfi, Leroy's master as he had never seen her appear like this before. The miss Agatha he knew was always cool-headed and aplomb, she would never in a million years show any signs discomposure or agitation. At least that's what he thought.

But before him, the lady was scratching her long black hair and he rocked back and forth on the bed. She was clearly out of her mind.

Wanfi was horrified, without Agatha he would never be able to complete his creation. That was the reason why even though she was much weaker than him, he would still show respect towards her despite being a senior black magician.

"What happened miss?"

The man lowers his head and tries his best to speak clearly despite his course and rotten voice.

The woman immediately turns and speaks.

"They are coming! They destroyed my base, my babies, my everything!"

"I need the chimeras, where are they?! Where are the last of my babies!"

With each word she speaks, the more deranged and demented she sounds.

"Miss!"

Wanfi grabs Agatha by the shoulders and looks at her directly in the eye before speaking. His tone changes and he sounds much firmer than before.

"What happened?"

"My hideout has been compromised!"

On the outskirts of the Corsair kingdom lies a building tucked away in a secluded location. Inside it, Agatha could be seen carefully mixing chemicals using test tubes. A few moments later she pours the mixture into a beaker. She looks intently as her sharp red eyes are glued solely to the beaker.

She pours mixture after mixture into the beaker and it starts to bubble with foam reaching the brim.

Shortly after, she grabs a sphere-like object and douses it with the lilac colored solution. The metal sphere begins glowing as the mixture seeps into the creases on it's body.

Agatha takes a step back and stares in admiration at the glimmering purple color radiating from the sphere.

"Finally it's done!"

"My greatest core!"

She says while observing her brilliant work.

"Now all I have to do is create a vess-"

Just as she was muttering to herself, a puffing soldier marches into the room.

"Master Agatha it's terrible! We have intruders!"

Agatha stops talking to herself and turns around to face the breathless soldier.

"Intruders?!"

"How many of them?!"

"Unknown at the moment! But we know that they are few in numbers!"

"Then get rid of them!"

"We can't master! We are completely being run over!"

With every word he speaks, the soldier grows more fearful. He stares at Agatha's face which is filled with fury.

"Fine!"

"I shall go myself!"

She hastily walks out the door while digging the right pocket of her long coat.

Just before exiting she stops and reveals a scalpel in her right hand. She turns around and flings the blade towards the direction of the soldier.

It impales the soldier's head and he drops to the ground face-first.

"I told you not to disturb me."

Agatha rushes to the front lines, but when she arrived she was met with a mountain of corpses.

The entire area had already been thoroughly dyed in a crimson color.

To make matters worse, it seems like all the lights are broken with the intruders most likely being the culprits.

She stares at the scene horrified. The soldiers that were protecting this facility were by no means weak. They were highly trained mercenaries given to her by "that man". Some of them even have the strength to join the ranks of inquisitors.

With all this in mind, the scene she gazed at only told her one thing.

The enemy was strong.

"You bastards!"

The target of Agatha's wrath induced glare was a group of individuals whose bodies were covered in black robes and faces bore a mask. But even though she was staring so intently, in this area that was currently only illuminated by moonlight seeping in through the entrance, Agatha felt as though she might lose them to the darkness if she dared look away.

Their group numbers 6. Among them, the figure in the middle wielding a sword seems to be the leader. Judging by appearance, the person seems to be a young lady.

As their gazes met, Agatha takes a step backwards after sensing the enormous magic power hidden behind the enemy's eyes.

"Wh..o."

"Who are you people?!"

Asks Agatha while trying her best to maintain her composure.

From instinct she could tell, the young lady in front of her had powers greater than her own.

Agatha's eyes begin to dart around the area, in hopes of searching for a way out. She could feel the gears inside her head speed up as she kept searching for a solution.

"What should I do? My babies are inside the back room. But if I make a move now they'll definitely strike me down!"

"Without the chimeras I'll never be able to escape from here!"

Thoughts like those keep crossing her mind.

But just then the lady takes a step forth...

"You don't need to know who we are, all you need to know is that you will regret hurting one of our kind."

The lady says while readying her stance.

"Wait hurting? Kind? Was the bastard that I randomly picked out to test my chimeras one of them?"

Agatha thinks to herself.

"I shouldn't have let him escape!"

"Shit! Shit! Shit!"

"I'm going to be killed!"

Agatha launches herself backwards and makes a run for it towards the back room. She was confident in her speed, even if the lady had superior powers compared to hers, she believed she could outrun all the enemies if she could just distract them with the chimeras.

On the way, she picks up her precious creation she was working on and activates several traps set beforehand in order to slow the intruders down.

At the back room she stands in front of three giant creatures and immediately wakes all of them up. The two on the left and right have the bodies of a black panther and the head of a splint eater. The one in the middle however had a grey lion's head and a vermillion blood tiger's body.

The moment she finishes, the door of the back room smashes opened and the lady walked through.

From her look on her face, the lady was surprised to see the three creatures sitting there.

"Go get her!"

Says Agatha as she points towards the lady.

All three of them jump in and attacked the lady.

"Demonic art 29: Dancing shadow."

In the next few seconds, one of the chimeras falls to the ground making Agatha take a step back.

"Hah!"

She gasped, trying her best to hide her fear.

"That chimera was equivalent to a 4 star mana beast and she just took it out so easily?!"

"She's a monster!"

Thought Agatha.

The lady ignores the other two chimeras and charges forth towards her, inflicting her with several flesh wounds. If it wasn't for the fact she blocked some of the strikes, she would definitely be bleeding out on the floor by now.

"I have no choice, I have to use this core now! Even though it won't be fully effective since it's not the correct vessel, it will buy me time to escape from this monster!"

She plunges the core into the body of the grey lion chimera.

It took the chimera a few seconds to ingest the core before fully radiating a bright purple color. It's skin now filled with cracks and it's veins look as though it glitters.

[RARRR!]

It roars loudly striking fear into the other intruders that just entered the room. But not the lady. She remains unfazed while eyeing the chimera.

She looks at it for a mere moment before focusing back onto Agatha.

"Hiiii!"

Shrieks Agatha while pressing on her wounds.

She immediately turns and runs out the back door, using the secret tunnel she had installed.

If not for the tunnel, she wouldn't have been able to escape in the first place.

"Wanfi..."

"That bastard! I shouldn't have lent him my other two chimeras!"

[BOOM!]

[BANG!]

Behind her huge explosions could be heard coming from her facility.

"I have to get out of here! And go to my two final babies!"

This was a long one, hope you all enjoyed!
