Chapter 243: Selling Out Teammates Decisively

At this moment, Lee Jordan instinctively wanted to rely on his dependable roommate, but he was too nervous. His rapid breathing and pounding heart were giving away his position, catching the attention of the three-headed creature.

Fred and George also noticed that one of the heads of the three-headed creature lifted and looked in a certain direction. They felt a bit relieved, thinking that as long as Albert was here, there might be... possibly... a way to deal with the three-headed creature in front of them.

Fred and George prayed for Albert to appear quickly and rescue them from their current predicament. However, no matter how much they prayed in their hearts, their thoughts couldn't reach Albert, and their pleas had no effect.

All three heads of the creature, along with their three pairs of gleaming eyes, were fixed on the spot where Fred and George were hiding. The three noses twitched and sniffed in their direction. Sticky drool dripped from the yellowed teeth and landed beside them, frightening Fred and George to shivers. A single pounce, and they could be attacked and bitten to death by the monstrous creature before them.

Not just Fred and George, even Lee Jordan, hidden nearby, was drenched in sweat. He didn't understand why Albert hadn't acted yet in such a critical situation. What was he doing?

Lee Jordan didn't understand, truly didn't understand!

He gripped his wand tightly, ready to cast a spell on the creature at a crucial moment and save Fred and George.

As Fluffy opened its mouth wide, preparing to pounce, Fred and George couldn't bear the pressure any longer. They let out a terrified and desperate scream simultaneously and sprinted away from the Forbidden Forest at breakneck speed.

To be honest, this was an incredibly foolish move.

Albert, hidden nearby, watched in disbelief. Exposing their backs to the enemy, was that not asking for death?

Besides, no matter how fast they ran, could they really outrun a three-headed dog? For some reason, though, Fluffy, the three-headed dog, didn't immediately chase after them. Perhaps the earlier screams had startled Fluffy.

By the time Fluffy regained its senses and started barking and chasing after Fred and George, the Weasley twins were running as if their lives depended on it. They wished they had a couple more legs.

This scene left Lee Jordan stunned. He was about to come to Fred and George's aid when he heard Hagrid's voice in the distance, yelling, "Fluffy, come back!"

Fluffy hesitated. After spending so much time raising it, Hagrid's influence seemed to have an effect. Especially if Fluffy didn't obey this time, it might not be taken out for a walk next time.

This moment of hesitation allowed Fred and George, who were originally escaping, to narrowly escape the danger. However, their situation wasn't any better; they were practically trembling with fear after being scared by the three-headed creature.

"The screams just now seemed to come from... the Weasley kids?" Hagrid heard the screams as well. His face turned grim. He didn't want anyone to know about Fluffy's existence, let alone have it bite other students. He hurried over and, after confirming that Fluffy hadn't bitten the Weasley twins, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Who's there? Come out!"

Noticing the direction Fluffy's attention was focused on, Hagrid followed its line of sight and saw footprints in the snow. He called out.

"It's me!" Lee Jordan sighed helplessly and spoke up.

"You're invisible?" Hagrid recognized the voice. His expression turned even more unsightly.

"It's the Disillusionment Charm. Albert helped me with it. I came here to see what's happening." Lee Jordan didn't hesitate to throw Albert under the bus, ready to face the blame together. He knew that Albert had a good relationship with Hagrid.

"Earlier, what exactly happened? Didn't I tell you not to go into the forest?" Hagrid's face immediately darkened, and he continued, "Where's Albert?"

"Albert? He should be around here somewhere." Lee Jordan looked around, but he didn't see Albert's figure and couldn't find the footprints he left in the snow. He suddenly realized he had been tricked.

"Damn it, those bastards!" Lee Jordan cursed internally. However, he quickly pushed those thoughts aside because the three heads of Fluffy were approaching him, causing his legs to tremble, and he nearly fell to the ground.

"Hagrid, can you keep your pet away from me? It looks a bit..." Lee Jordan didn't say "terrifying" out loud.

"Oh, don't worry, Fluffy is very well-behaved," Hagrid reassured, "Last time, Albert even patted its dog head."

"Albert, patted its dog head?" Lee Jordan was quite impressed by Albert's courage and audacity. He dared to pat the head of this creature. Could it be that it didn't seem as dangerous as it looked on the surface?

Hagrid seemed to read Lee Jordan's mind and warned, "When I'm not around, it's best to keep a distance from Fluffy. It's been learning how to hunt for food lately..."

The latter quickly dispelled a crazy idea.

"Why did you guys go into the forest?" Hagrid furrowed his brow.

"We four went into the forest to pick snow mushrooms, the delicious mushrooms we found last year." Lee Jordan didn't have any intention to hide the truth from Hagrid. He told the truth, but only half of it. After all, he wasn't lying. He spoke with confidence, a lesson he learned from Albert.

"What happened with Fred and George just now? Why did they scream in such fear?" Hagrid asked, a bit puzzled.

"Of course... they were scared!" Lee Jordan felt his mouth twitch uncontrollably. Even he would have been scared enough to scream when facing the three-headed creature in front of him.

"If I weren't here today, who knows what might have happened!" Hagrid complained with feigned annoyance, "If you guys want to die in the Forbidden Forest, that's one thing, I can always come clean up the mess later. But I don't want your petty actions tarnishing Hogwarts' reputation."

Hagrid reached out and pushed Fluffy's three heads aside, then poked Lee Jordan's chest. "Don't spread rumors when you go back. And, no more going into the forest. Otherwise, I'll have Professor McGonagall deduct points from you harshly and put you in detention for another month."

"We understand," Lee Jordan said earnestly, "I promise there won't be a next time."

"At the very least, you won't get caught next time," he added in his mind.

After getting a harsh scolding from Hagrid and enduring several minutes of lecturing, Lee Jordan deeply regretted his curiosity. If he had known, he wouldn't have been so curious about what kind of pet Hagrid had.

Not only had he been nearly scared to death by the creature, he had also been severely reprimanded by Hagrid. Speaking of which, where had that guy Albert gone? He was sure Albert knew about the creature beforehand, which was why he had told them to leave quickly.

Thinking about what had just happened, Lee Jordan felt incredibly frustrated. He should have stuck with Albert just now. However, when he thought about Fred and George, who had been frightened out of their wits by the creature, his mood improved considerably.

Indeed, after a quick comparison, seeing Fred and George in a worse situation than himself made him feel much better.

Hagrid held the chain on Fluffy's neck and watched Lee Jordan's receding figure. He said, "Alright, he's gone. Come out!"

There was no response, and the surroundings remained eerily silent.

Hagrid scratched the back of his head and looked around, not seeing Albert's figure. He muttered to himself, "Could I have been mistaken?"
