3: Secrets

I release Drake and shake my hand. There's a burned hand mark on Drakes shoulder. Jack grabs my arm and marches me away. I sigh.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to." I explain. He glares at me.

"You used your abilities in public?!" He hisses quietly. I pull away from his strong grip, rubbing my wrist.

"It's not my fault that I care about you!" I snap. He sighs, as I hold my frosted palm over my hurt wrist. Elemental control isn't easy, and it's really dangerous.

"I just don't want you ending up like your mom." He whispers. I hug him with one arm.

"I'll be okay." I reassure him. "Let's just talk about it after school. My house by 4?" I grin. He chuckles and nods.

"I'll see ya then." He agrees. I mess up his hair and walk to class.

Lunch time. I sit down at a table, holding my salad. Jack plops down next to me. I jump.

"Jesus Jack!" I hiss. He smiles apologetically and hands me a pencil. I grab it and twirl it in my hands.

"Bad news." He says. I raise an eyebrow.

"That's why I have a pencil." I nod. He laughs and rubs my shoulders.

"You're dads here to pick you up." He sighs. The pencil sizzles and snaps in two, a burn mark in the broken ends of each half. I sigh and stand up.

"This should be good." I say sarcastically.

"Yeah, he's here to pick both of us up." He says giving me my bag. I raise my eyebrows and follow him out the door. Here goes the freak show. My dad smiles at me and Jack.

"Hey hun." He hugs me. I slide my jacket off and shake out my large black wings.

"Oh boy. Hey dad." I answer, smiling. He grabs my bag and tosses it in the trunk.

"I have a surprise for you at home." He smiles. I inhale and nod.

"Wonder what it is." I say, acting excited. Jack pats my shoulder and hops in the car. My dad gives me one last glance.

"You'll be okay flying home alone, right?" He asks. I nod.

"First time for everything. I'll be fine." I smile and take off, rising into the clouds. A surprise, huh? Wonder what could be more surprising then everyone finding out my secrets. I shrug to myself. That rights, kids. I'm a freak.
