The Contemporary World

2020

It is Monday at a splendid and spacious church in the Philippines, even if there are no people in the church; nevertheless, because the sun is directly overhead, churchgoers may arrive tonight. A lady is shown holding a phone, which she uses to read novels and look on the internet seeking information on supernatural beings, which she has long assumed exist in the world.

The lady enjoys reading tales about individuals with remarkable powers that are diametrically opposed to the particular man.

"Some werewolves must learn to control themselves in their wolf form over a long length of time. The Moonlight Wolf Pack is the first werewolf pack that has ever been proved to be completely in charge of its actions. There have been instances where wolves demonstrated conscious control for a brief period of time during their period as wolves." as she reads that line from an article on how werewolves control themselves once they've transformed, her voice has a shakiness to it.

In addition, she does not want to be heard by Father Nicolas or indeed the three nuns, Sisters Damita, Catalina, and Gallelea. Considering they believed that was undoubtedly not suitable in the house of God, they would surely discourage her from reading about such creatures. However, she does not own the gadget she is holding but it is owned by Lesly who maintains cleanliness inside the church. Lesly permitted him to use her phone for only half an hour while she was cleaning literally the entire church.

She is claimed to have sat for half an hour in the back of the church, where she was not readily seen or observed by even the three nuns. Fortunately, the three nuns were not in the church since they were out purchasing for necessities that might be utilized and consumed on a weekly basis.

"Can werewolves love?" when those words appeared in the article, she felt her heart start to beat quicker for no discernable reason. Despite this, she continued to read it, most likely out of intrigue. "Werewolves don't socialize, they don't fall in love, and they don't want intimacy. Werewolves are vicious, bloodthirsty creatures. People that change into them do so without their will during the three nights of the full moon and have no recollection of what happened."

The lady appeared displeased as a consequence of what she read; as soon as she was reading about such creatures, she could not really help but admire and amaze at them; whether they were real or not, she did not seem to care. The only assumption she believes is that, like the characters in the novels she reads, werewolves may fall in love, and when they do, they love in the very same way that humans do.

"Just a bit, am I getting this right? Werewolves changed forms during the time, and when they returned to human shape, they have no recollection of whatever they have done?!" The woman's face could be seen with indescribable frustration, she remarked, almost impossibly. People in that area would presumably believe that woman was insane if they did not know her.

She then went website to search for photos of werewolves and just could not help but smile as she looked through them. As a typical woman, she's a hopeless romantic, to say the least, her imagination is too wide and expecting all her fantasies can happen in the real world.

"I understand you are not real, and you all exist on legend, and there's not enough basis if you're part of the truth. However, I am grateful that you have been a part of my life." She mumbled calmly to herself while concentrating on the phone she was holding while staring at the wolf images.

"Amelia"

"Xena"

"Wylla"

The woman could barely look behind her when she heard the three nuns mention her names. Her body completely appeared to stiffen, and she could not really open her mouth because she bite her lower lip so firmly.

After a few moments, she was eventually able to peek behind her and saw three nuns carrying bags containing their purchases. When she observed the faces of the three nuns who looked to be flushing with irritation at her, and their gaze seemed to have stabbed her numerous times, her smile seemed forced. Instead of acknowledging her guilt, she quickly concealed the phone behind her back and then shifted the conversation's focus.

"Why promptly could you return, mothers? What did you buy? I will prepare our dinner tonight; did you know I am a wonderful cook? When you taste the cuisine that I will prepare, you will quickly forget your identities. Let's go inside and then get some rest because you must be exhausted from your buying groceries. You are old and infirm and really should not go; I will just purchase it for you next time—"

When the nun Damita spoke forward, the woman could not even continue what she intended to say.

"How many times have we explained this matter to you? Amelia, It is forbidden to read, search, or seek information on such beings. Those claims are false, and our church does not believe to them." Damita said solemnly, her voice mirroring a loving person's sermon. She was the most serious of the three nuns, rarely socializing, and was silent and irritable when others described her. However, there is no disputing Amelia's benevolence and true affection for Amelia.

"Damita is correct; why are you infatuated with those beasts when you might be enamored with a real creature and find a boyfriend?" The humor in Catalina's voice is still audible, despite the seriousness of the situation. She is the most humorous of the three nuns, even in tough circumstances, and she is also talkative, which is one of the attributes that Amelia got from her.

Damita and Gallelea both stared at her at the same moment because of what she said. It was a sign that they did not agree with what Catalina mentioned in their views about her.

"I am joking, of course. I was only attempting to make both of you laugh. Take a look at Xena, I found a way to make her giggle." Catalina, on the other contrary, excused herself when she started to notice the two nuns' sharp eyes on her, as if they were intellectually killing her.

"We discussed Wylla's decision to embark into a relationship when she reaches the age of twenty-three. We'll have to wait three years before we can talk about it. Therefore, don't chastise her if she wants to know more about those creatures; we all know it's a piece of fiction. Then there's nothing in the Bible that says you can't believe in those things, right?" Gallelea said something to the two nuns, and they mostly stared at her, indicating that they did not necessarily agree with her.

Gallelea is the most defiant of the three, yet she is also the one who enjoys agreeing with Amelia. However, by consenting to her, she simply demonstrates how much she loves the woman, even if it is wrong in the view of others to consent this kind of topic.

"What are you talking about, Gallelea? are you going to tolerate Amelia until now?" Gallelea's statement that she does not agree with this has caused Damita to get agitated, because it is evident to her that her sibling is complacent.

"I don't condone her; I only want to point out that we should impose limitations and strictness on her as well; if we continually prohibit her from doing what she wants, she would inevitably elude us." Gallelea responded swiftly, prompting Catalina to escape between the two of them, unsure of who was on her side or what she should do to prevent the conflict between her two siblings from worsening.

She just did one thing: she approached Amelia and grabbed her arm, while listening to Damita and Catalina's disagreement, which, if left uncontrolled, usually ends a day. Catalina is really only in silence when her two siblings argue because, aside from the fact that she doesn't know what to say, she can't match their knowledge or guts, either.

"Do you comprehend what might happen if you continue to tolerate her? She is unable to distinguish among right and bad, therefore she is lectured to for her own benefit. It does not imply that scolding her means she is no longer loved; rather, it means that we are concerned about her, which I believe she will understand since we know that her thinking is broad and not narrow." Damita stated as her gaze was drawn to her sister.

Their parents had abandoned them for no obvious reason, thus they were only adopted when Father Nicolas was thirty years old. They were triplets who grew up and served in the church for many years. The priest is now seventy years old, and the nuns are now at forty's. They are triplets but their faces are different so it is only quick to recognize each of them.

Damita and Gallelea are sometimes at conflicts among their siblings; perhaps Damita's behavior is too rigorous, and what she believes is correct should be implemented, since for her, if you pay more attention and awareness to everything a person does, you can notice any faults they do and correct it.

Gallelea, on the other hand, is not strict, she is not tight and what she does not want is that the woman is so strangled in the neck, that she can hardly breathe, with too much control. For her, a woman has her own mind and makes her own decisions, so she should do anything she wants if it makes her happy. All young people need is guidance and encouragement rather than being told what they want to do with their lives.

In the ending, the two of them get along perfectly since they are siblings, no matter what unfolds. It is intuitive for siblings to have misunderstandings; perhaps one day they will disagree on something, contrary to their own opinion and point of view, and appear unable to communicate with one another; however, regardless of wether they acknowledge it or not, siblings will remain siblings, even when earthquakes, typhoons, and tsunamis strike, they remain close by. Even if their ideas differed, their desire would not be stifled; it would be for the benefit of Amelia, their cherished child.

When Amelia's biological mother abandoned her in front of the church when she was a new born baby, the nuns heard her crying in the midst of heavy raindrops. They went to it right away, without hesitation, and fostered the infant until it grew up in the church with them. They loved Amelia and pampered her as if she were their own daughter, regardless of the fact that none of them were married. In fact, The woman was given a name by them. Damita chose the name Amelia for her, Catalina offered Xena the second name, while Gallelea provided Wylla as her last name.

Amelia Xena Wylla Fattore Cacace was the woman's name. They know who Amelia's real mother is, but she died a long time ago; she comes from a wealthy family, and they believe the reason Amelia was excluded from the church is because her mother is terrified of being disowned by her own family since she fell pregnant at the age of twenty-one. Cassandra Fattore Cacace was her mother's true name, thus that's where her surname came from.

"Gallelea, you have no idea what I am talking about."

"Because you don't comprehend what I am trying to say either."

"I am not going to backtrack on what I said; that's what we imprinted on her mind already, so she should adhere to it."

"But do you think she's following you?"

"The words limitation and tolerance are not interchangeable."

"And the words tolerance and empathy are not comparable too."

As the fight between the two siblings became more intense, Amelia decided to intervene. She e took both of their hands in hers and spoke to them earnestly; she did not take sides with either of them because she understood that both had a purpose and that they had the same objective, and that she would be happy and grow as a good and respectul woman.

"I am sorry if what I did upset you; I will try not to do that again; I know there's only one thing you want to convey, which is that you just want me to be a great person; don't worry; you raised me so well; I don't want you to get into argument because of me; I both understand your point and I love you both." Amelia said calmly, her gaze falling on Damita and Gallelea. When she observed the intensity of the battle between the two was progressively decreasing as a result of what she said, she smiled sweetly.

Everything would have been fine but all of a sudden they heard a voice that filled them with dread.

"Who's arguing?"

And that was the voice of Father Nicolas.
