"What are you doing here?" Mike was confused as to why the two men had gotten into their house.
Taking a step over to his desk, a deep sigh went out of his mouth. Mike picked up a small rectangular case inside the wooden cabinet. From there he took a sphere-shaped container that contains tobacco inside.
He turned over and glanced over to the two men sitting in front of his swivel chair.
It looks like they were only twenty years old. The two men were wearing gray suits, with their hair properly styled on one side. The posture and how the two men moved were very formal, to begin with. That brought trepidation to Mike.
Mike was deeply in confusion. What do they need from him? It has already been a few years since he last met those people from Quirenne.
Although the two men were surprised by Mike's chaotic appearance, they did not show it. It was not their problem in the first place. They were here for a much bigger reason.
"My name is Julius and here is my dear friend, Duke. We are tasked to fetch your eldest child." A low-voiced man introduced himself to Mike.
With the given intoxication in his mind. Mike in the speed of light, stood up and hit a strike on the man's face. Nevertheless, the man moved faster than him. Julius straight away avoided the sudden move.
But based on their faces, they were already expecting his reaction. Of course, it wouldn't be easy for a person to give up his only child.
"YOU WILL NOT TAKE MY DAUGHTER AWAY FROM ME!" Mike's raged surprised the two men.
Mike's eyes glowed with savage fire, his mouth pinched shut as if he was holding what he wanted to say. His body moved over as he stared at them.
It hasn't been long since he grieved over the loss of his wife and unborn child. And now they wanted to take the only person keeping him sane?! He wouldn't consent to it. Abigail was the only person he has in this world! No one can keep Abigail away from him!
Duke took out an envelope and laid it on the table. It was a black glossy paper with a red wax seal outside.
Mike's eyes twitched in horror. Suddenly his knees weakened when he saw what was branded in the seal. He shifted his gaze to the two. His expression stretched into a mask of terror as he ran his fingers through his hair with a shaking hand.
"W-Why... We've been out of that place for a long time already. We've cut off any contact from you guys."
"This is the order of the dear Queen. All families who had left the kingdom must send back one of their children back to serve and live in it. With your family being the direct descendants of the first blood, it was impossible for you to get away with it, Aere Cescar" Julius answered in a calm manner.
Mike was stunned in place for a moment when he heard his real name. The first name was given to him before his mother decided that they would live in this world. A world where they were really not welcomed in the first place due to the obvious differences.
"What do you plan to do with my daughter?"
"You have nothing to fear, Aere Cescar. The only intention of the Queen was to train the heirs well." Duke shifted his place, wandering around his eyes to the messy office.
"I just want my daughter to live simple and happy! She doesn't need to be trained! Everything we need in order to live can also be found in this place. We don't need you anymore," Mike uttered in a deafening way. His heart was full of remorse. He should have kept Abigail in a safe place where no one can find them.
"Are you planning to break the sacred will? You know what will happen to you when you become stubborn," Duke warned in a threatening tone.
Mike had lost all his strength completely. He found himself sitting down on the sofa as he looked carefully at the envelope, placed on the table. The black envelope only means one thing.
It was whoever refuses to obey the words written in it, shall pay with his own life.
Even though he was willing to die for Abigail, he knew that it was useless, to begin with. The two men in front of him possess strength and power that he, himself does not have.
Whether he dies or not, they will surely take Abigail away with them. He felt a pang of pain in his heart. He was thinking about how his daughter would react. For Pete's sake, Abigail was only 10 years old! His daughter is still young and innocent about the world he lives in, in the past.
"For what reason? Why did she insist that I have to give my child away?" He could not understand why these things were happening so suddenly to him. He doesn't know how to cope up with the changes coming in his life.
First his wife and now… his daughter. As if everyone in the world doesn't like him to be happy.
But as he turned around, the faces of the two men darkened. In there, Mike felt the frightening energy in the two men. Terror washed over him, raising the fine hairs on the back of his neck as he heard what they answered.
"She's back... The Evil Queen is finally back."
