Time to Separate

Sarah and Damian quickly seperated with Jonah after that announcement.

There was going to be a war.

Sarah, Damian and Jonah didn't know what was going to happen in the future so they quickly set up a meeting spot and went their way.

The meeting spot was set up since the three of them had made a sort of relationship after their travels.

The reason was mostly because Sarah had been trying to seduce Jonah during their travels for this exact situation.

So Sarah and Damian had already made a connection in Alron as soon as they stepped in.

But even with connections, they were homeless.

Sarah and Damian didn't have any money, and their goods were currently gone all because of that bear attack.

This was truly a huge loss for the both of them.

That carriage was the only way for them to situate themselves in Alron and start making a living.

Damian was going to sell the goods he had stolen from the merchants into the black market with a secret identity to make some profits.

But that magical bear, beast had truly made their life much harder then it should've been.

So, Sarah and Damian were on the streets again, just like in the old times.

Sarah and Damian survived by stealing jewelry and food with Sarah seducing a few men and Damian using his stealth skills to complete the heists.

Sarah had even seduced a few men into giving her some money to live with, promising them the best time of their lives.

Sarah contributed a lot but at the same time Damian did most of the selling and managing of their finances to survive in this new environment.

But no matter how much they try to do in a few days it still wouldn't matter eventually.

The kingdom had finally started drafting for the war.

Sure they now had a peak-Immortal in their midst, but at the same time they didn't want to deal with the mortal beasts that would come to attack them.

So Sarah and Damian were forced to draft.

"Look Sarah I'll come back eventually. So stop crying and worrying about me." Damian said in a gentle tone.

"What do you mean you'll come back!" Sarah shouted back in frustration.

"My little brother is being sent to war and you just want me to be quite about it?"

"Use some sense! What if I was going to be married to some pig that killed women after having his way with them. Would you not say anything either?"

"Sarah I'm not dying!" Damian finally shouted.

"How would I know that you idiot..." Sarah said with a choking throat.

"You don't think I don't know? I should be out there more then you." Sarah said with a meaning hidden underneath.

Damian came close and gave Sarah a hug.

"Look..."

"You think I want my sister to die either."

"If we want to keep a secret from the nobles about your situation then we can only do this..."

"We're also being forced into this war by the kingdom decree, so we have no choice Sarah."

"And your still going to be in the war either way."

"The kingdom needs nurses on the frontlines, and campsites, to heal the injured soldiers that return from battle. So a lot of women are going to be recruited as nurses during this war"

"So... don't worry about me. Just worry about yourself."

"I need you more then you need me."

Damian was starting to feel a wet sensation on his shoulder as he finished his speech.

"Ok..." Sarah said.

"But just remember if you die on the battlefield then I'll kill you." Sarah said trying to lighten the mood of the upcoming months.

She started tightening her hug around Damian's shoulders. Not willing to let him go for even a moment.

Damian just chuckled as he gave Sarah a kiss on her cheek while holding Sarah tightly to himself.

'Don't worry sis...'

'I won't die before I make this world into our playground.'

Sarah was seeing Damian walk off into the distance. Waving her hands behind Damian as he showed his back leaving.

Sarah stopped waving and started walking.

'I'm not willing to let you go.' Sarah said in her heart.

'So I will get myself sent to your battlefield.'

'We'll see each other soon, Damian...'

Sarah had made her resolve and started walking towards a building with a giant red circle with a white cross in it.

As soon as Sarah walked in she was surrounded by many women lining up and many on the side waiting for their turn to join in on the line.

There was a looooot of people here.

And they were all women.

Being a nurse was completely optional.

The pay was shit and they also had to put themselves on danger by working in a battlefield. Why would anyone want to work on the battlefield when they could just stay at home and try to manage their family or houses?

Well, that is most women didn't have a choice.

People couldn't find employment during war times, most businesses would just try to keep employess away and not try to hire them. They would do these to keep their businesses afloat for as long as possible during these trying times.

Businesses just didn't have any money or capital to waster on more manpower when they were already actively cutting them off to try and keep their businesses alive.

Because of this many establishments or businesses wouldn't hire new workers during a major war.

Some women could have gone into prostitution if they had a choice.

But unfortunately, this time even prostitution wasn't an option since most men were out fighting instead of being in the city were they can hire prostitutes to entertain themselves.

All recreational activities like gambling dens and other entertainment establishments would be losing their customers because of this war. Because of this most places wouldn't even hire new workers since they wouldn't have the customers necessary to pay them, leading to most businesses closing down in the following months of this war.

So all in all women and men both had to join the war efforts and serve their country or else they would be left without a place to live and probably starve to death if their main breadwinner was the man that had gotten deployed for the war.

This was all doom and gloom for the commoners, but for the kingdom this was an absolute win!

They can use the male commoners as their cannon-fodder while the cultivators fight, and use the female commoners as nurses to increase the lifespan of the cannon-fodders during this war.

They get to use soldiers that would last longer then usual and in the end be allowed to keep their kingdom safe from the hordes of weak beasts that would soon come to take over the kingdom.

The royal family got their cake and also get to eat it too.

Those weak mortals don't matter.

Why would they? They should just be grateful that they were even using them as cannon-fodder!

In the end if you want to live a peaceful life, power was all that matters.
