Remember Kids, Don't Absorb Too Much Life Essence

A panicking Sarah scrambled around her tent in her nurse uniform as she constantly brought medicine and water to two suspiciously skinny men lying on her bed naked with a blanket covering their private parts.

'Shit, I went overboard with the skill!' Sarah thought as she picked up the head off the burlier guard and slowly gave him a sip of green liquid from a clay cup.

As the man drank it weakly Sarah wiped her brows off the sweat they were accumulating, 'Thank god I had some spare Vitality Water stored.'

Vitality Water was a necessity for the nurses on the front line such as Sarah. It was made from extremely common herbs that when mixed in a specific order and ratio, release the essence bonds in between their molecular make-up and make a magical effect of increasing recovery while also being extremely nutritious for the body and mind. Being a must-have recipe for any doctor or nurse worth their salt.

This medicine was invented by the Scholar of Nashi. A Cultivator who specialises in everything related to magic, being a peak-Immortal with a good chance to ascend to the higher plane.

He is the best magician in the entire mortal plane. On the same level as The Beast King who is also another peak-Immortal. But unfortunately, that cultivator is currently waging a war on the Glaran royalty, so the citizens didn't exactly have a good opinion of the Beast King as they used to.

But otherwise, the Scholar of Nashi, a man not waging wars on kingdoms, figured out the recipe of the Vitality Water while trying to see if he could use his knowledge of the way essence worked, to see if he could extract the essence from common elements and materials such as the weeds in his garden and water that he had made in his pot.

And miraculously, he had used alchemy without any mana or Law Qi to speak of. Because of the unique concoction between the mixture ratios and materials of common materials he somehow invented the Vitality Water.

After figuring out that the recipe could be used by non-cultivators as well, he immediately spread it among his close compatriots, who in turn spread it across the world as a miracle recipe made by him, the Scholar of Nashi. Giving doctors and nurses a boon when it came to patients who were frail from sickness, allowing them the ability to eat a nutritious meal and help them recover from their weakened state without the risk of suddenly dying while in recovery.

This is also the time when the Scholar of Nashi gained his moniker. Though, his close compatriots and citizens of Nashi would say otherwise. He had still single-handedly invented a medicine that could save billions of lives and more in the future.

This happened 178 years ago. With the amount of time passed, the medicine had become widely adopted by healers across the world and became commonplace enough that Sarah could get her hands on some and even be able to use it sparingly when treating random patients.

As Sarah took care of the two weak men, she went through her mind of everything that had happened to the men as she ran around the tent like a headless chicken in panic.

'I shouldn't have done it over ten times. And I definitely shouldn't have absorbed their Life Essence that many times either,' Sarah thought as she suddenly saw one of the men start having a mini-seizure and trembling all over. She quickly ran to his side as she held him down and waited for the seizure to dissipate before giving the man a sip of Vitality Water to help with his weakness.

She gave a worried sigh as she took away the cup from the man's mouth and placed it on her side. She brought a towel out and wiped the sweat off the bodies of the two men while continuing her thoughts.

'You should be glad these two aren't dead, Sarah. At least now you know what not to do when absorbing Life Essence. Don't absorb too much. Or else some unfortunate consequences may occur,' Sarah thought to herself in second-person as she tried to piece together her jumbled panicky thoughts together in a cohesive manner.

She felt slightly guilty at the fact that some men could've died just because she wanted to try out a new skill. Sure, she wouldn't care if the men died, but it was a bit harrowing knowing you could kill a few people on accident just by having a bit of fun.

'Maybe this is why Cultivators stay away from the common folk,' Sarah thought as she placed the soaked towel on her side and in a bucket as she took a step back to see the two men's condition.

'They seem stable now. Phew~ finally I can relax.'

At this thought, Sarah immediately plopped down onto her chair and let out a relieved sigh as she stretched her arms behind her head.

'Now I can move on to the important stuff...'

In the middle of the Kron Camp, soldiers were standing in line with a salute as they saw the Lieutenant look at them from atop a platform.

But as he looked at the line of soldiers, he suspiciously felt a few were missing.

'Hm? Are we missing a few soldiers?' He thought as he looked at the lacking army with suspicion and slight confusion.

He turned to his side as he called his assistant, "Oi, are there any soldiers missing? And if yes, tell me the names," He said as a senior soldier on his right came forward to hear the order.

He cleared his throat for a moment before starting his report, "According to the headcount sir, a few soldiers are missing. But, I believe that is normal since it is early in the morning and those specific soldiers most likely had the night duty to watch over the camp," The senior soldier said as he accurately assessed the situation.

Even though what he heard was logical, his gut instinct still told him there was something wrong. But unfortunately, he couldn't quite put his hand on it.

'Fine, maybe I'll figure it out later...' Lieutenant Cleatus thought as he soon began his speech for the morning.

'And it's now considered a Bloodline Skill as well instead of an innate ability from the system. Wait... so did I need the system to use this skill or would I have had it without my Bloodline as well?'

'Well, I'll just ask the system.' And ask the system she did.

But even though she wanted to go ahead with the next part of her mission, Sarah still needed information on her targets. And Anthony was the only one who would provide that to her.

'Guess I've gotta be Mari again for a night. Well, I could try absorbing his Life Essence as well to see if I could break through to the next stage with the Life Essence Absorption skill,' Sarah pondered while pinching her chin in thought as she concocted a new plan of action.

As she continued thinking, she kept a look over the guards she had used last night as dildos and waited for them to recover before she continued on with her plan.

After a full day of rest, the guards had made a full recovery. Though they had lost some muscle mass, they were now healthy enough to go back to their duties and act like none of this ever happened. Though Sarah made sure to remind the two suckers of who they 'raped' two nights ago.

"Remember, you owe me," Sarah said with a solemn expression as if her dignity was fully violated on the night of the act.

And with all the tears she could muster, she croaked out a "Please..." at the end of her sentence.

With the men now back to their full thinking capacity, they felt the guilt overflow them as they bit their lips until they bled. With the second guard being especially regretful of what he had done.

With his arm over his heart he made a solemn promise to the crying maiden before him, "With all my heart and body, I will abide by my promise. Please... come to me for help if you ever need anything. Anything at all..."

With the two guards' promise of helping her no matter what, Sarah sent them off for their duties while she finally took her time off to meet Anthony for the night. Though it was still morning so that could wait.

'At least I've got free time now,' Sarah thought as she walked around her tent listlessly until she eyed at a certain notebook on top of her desk.

She picked it up and flipped it open. And as she looked at the muscular diagrams and descriptions beside it, she only had one thought.

'Maybe I should improve on my medical skills. You never know when you might need it,' Sarah thought to herself with a nod as she had a certain feeling she might need them in the future when she found Damian and left the country of Glaran one day.
