UNFORSEEN DANGER

"We don't wish to harm you, Miss." Mr. Slander said with a straight face. "We are only taking measures to prevent this issue from becoming worse."

"What issue? I didn't do anything." I was distraught. Why were those huge muscular men at my back? Was this a women trafficking ring? Did I just get myself mixed up with dangerous people? What if these men harvest my organs with their lack of expertise and leave me to die from blood loss? Different speculations of what was happening poured through my mind. And they were not good ones!

"You are required to sign a few documents as the new therapist." He said without paying heed to what I asked. "Here is the Nondisclosure agreement, here is a contract of stay, payment and conditions for resignation; that is of course, if you choose to resign." He kept pointing to the different documents that I had barely noticed on the table between us. " Here are the mansion rules and the schedule for Mr. Greystone's sessions. Here is the document you must sign for silence in case of sustaining injuries in unforseen danger. And, here is a list of the places you should never step foot in. This envelope here has your driver's details as a driver will be assigned to you in case of emergencies." The way he said the last word made me know that emergencies meant sudden death.

"Wait! Wait a minute! What do you mean by new therapist? How many therapist has attended to Mr. Greystone? What was their nature of resignation?" I had to ask because it seemed like quite a number of people had been in my position and ended up in worse condition than the supposed patient or worse dead.

"None of that is your concern." He responded. That response alone was enough to affirm my suspicions. There have been a lot of therapist before me and not many of them were in good condition. I was probably therapist number eight hundred and sixty five! My mind reeled at the possible ways I could easily disappear like the other therapists before me. The worse thing is my family warned me. I almost busrt into tears dramatically.

"You should dress well for tonight's dinner party. It is crucial for the conditions of your stay here." Mr. Slander concluded his speech and looked at me expectantly. "Begin the signing process. I have other important matters awaiting my supervision."

With the way Mr. Slander spoke, I began to wonder if the true boss was him or Mr. Greystone. There was something fishy happening and I was going to get to the bottom of it. I decided as I signed. I wasn't given much of a choice to read through the documents. They all waited until I signed the papers and left.

When they left, I could finally breathe properly. They had left a copy of the documents for me to go through just after I had signed it. One after the other, I checked these documents. My jaw almost dropped to the floor when I saw the conditions of these documents. One of the documents, Mr. Slander had so conveniently forgotten to mention was a marriage certificate. Pinned to it was a prenuptial agreement that were absurd.

I could not simply believe it. I had just married a man without realizing. My consent had not been requested. They had made me sign all those papers without proper information. The situation was so unbelievably ironic. I had run away from Nigeria, from my cheating ex fiance to end up in the hands of a psychopathic boss who was apparently now my husband by law.

The worse part was I could not even call my family and friends, and tell them about it. I had already signed to speak nothing about the agreement. A lot of consequences were attached to breech of the 'agreement'. It was as though I had just agreed to be a prisoner while I treated my supposed patient.

Out of frustration, I pushed the document aside and began to binge watch a drama series. The dinner party was in less than five hours anyway. I was a born beauty so I didn't need too many preparations to look gorgeous.

When it was barely two hours to the time of the party, I rushed to the bathroom to quickly groom myself. It didn't take me more than forty minutes. What took most of my time was choosing what to wear. I was an African, a Nigerian to be exact so I had numerous party wears. It was normal for a lady to own many of these. I just had to look for the best that suited the occasion. I chose a stunning red lace gown. It was the gown I had worn for my mother's friend's daughter marriage. I had not worn it again ever since so it was the best option for me.

Besides, the gown hugged my boobs well and exposed and enticing amount of cleavage. It was the opposite of sleeveless and was transparent on my arms and legs. My thighs upward was padded with silk from the inside to give the outfit some form of modesty. It had numerous shining ornaments adorned on the flair that started from my thighs downwards. To make it seductive, a exaggerated slit was done from the middle of my thighs down to my toes where the dress ended. In a nutshell, the gown was beautiful. Especially with me in it, I must add.

I was a dark skinned girl. So the contrast of a sharp red gown made me look like a model in a fashion magazine. I would not be surprised if earned the entire attention of the party. I wore my red heels packed my hair in a simple style. I adorned myself with a simple jewelry set. I was the fucking main adornment so I couldn't let any ornament outshine me. By the time I was done, four hours had passed!

I was shocked to see how fast time had gone and here I was, thinking two hours was enough. Before I left the room, I took a couple of good pictures to capture the moment. After spending so much time on myself, I was satisfied and happy. I had temporarily forgotten about those documents. I used the staircase instead of the elevator to avoid any 'unforseen danger'.

Little did I know that those unforseen dangers were looking for me. I had barely reached the first floor when two huge men approached me.

"Ma'am, come with us. We advise you cooperate with us to avoid accidents." Those men took me to a room. "Enter the room." One of them ordered. I turned to glare at him only to be pushed forcefully into the room. I had almost tripped with the force they used on me.

Inside the room was dark. Except for a dimly lit red light. I could barely make out the person sitting on a couch facing me.

"Is this the new girl?" I heard a girl shriek. "Turn on the lights Mr. Thompson!" She ordered and soon, there was light. The lights revealed four people. Two men and two women. One of the women was elderly. She was probably the mother to the other girl who was young.

"She is black! Was brother blind when he chose her?" The young girl sneered.

"Shush, my dear... Don't be so loud with your thoughts, the creature is in front of us. You don't need to trigger the creature and make it attempt to kill us all." The elderly woman said.

"But—" the young girl was about to say something.

"Matilda Greystone. Keep shut." The woman shut her daughter once more.

"Excuse me! Who are you referring to as a creature. If you mean creation of beauty." I boldly said to these women and the bodyguards at their side.

"I see... You have a foul mouth as well. The elderly woman said.

"You are rude! How do you simply drag a woman from the staircase only to have no value to offer." I made sure to throw my premium insults at them. They had no right to treat me the way they did.

"You had better mind the way you speak to me if you don't want to be like the previous therapists. " The young girl threatened. She was a gorgeous average height blonde with a disgusting mouth to her face.

"Is this how you welcomed those therapist before me?" I shouldn't have asked that question because what came next.

"So, there have been many therapist in this mansion carring out their work in the pretense of being Mrs. Greystone." The elderly woman said. Immediately, from their reaction, I knew I had said something I shouldn't have. It seemed like the therapists hired fo Mr. Greystone were made to act like they were married to him. Before I spilled the truth, they had no idea that I was only a therapist and nothing else.

"It seems like I would need to step in before this endless cycle starts again. You may leave. " She dismissed me. While I left, I overheard the young girl say, "Mother! Let us get rid of her as soon as possible."
