10 Chapter 10

The black sword, Kanshou, had hexagonal patterns akin to a turtle shell while the white sword, Bakuya, had a wave pattern with the haze of a cloud.

Same as with the bow, he couldn't clearly make out their history but he was sure that they were no ordinary weapons.

They were even enchanted to return back to each other. So, if he threw Kanshou while he held Bakuya, it would return to him after a while. 'Awesome, they could be used as projectiles too.' Max thought.

Then Sage together with Leopold walked in through the door.

"We will leave now and intercept the army at Fort Dawnguard together with the undead hunters. They are experts against the undead." Leopold said.

"Can I bring some other people too?" Max asked while raising his hand up.

"Who do you have in mind?"

"There are a few people who came to Horizon recently. I think they might be interested." The people Max was talking about was obviously the players.

This was a golden opportunity for then to gain more EXP. And that way they could spend more on him.

"You are talking about the inhumans?"

"Yes."

Inhumans was the name the people gave to the players as they revived upon death. But they had no signs of dark magic being used.

Many scholars captured a few of them to try experimenting the source of their resurrection but Max knew that they would all come up empty.

"I don't know whether Isran would like them in his fort but try to bring as much as you can. Since they are not afraid of death, they could be used as the frontline." Leopold nodded.

"Captain, don't you think that this is weird? All those years we had no problems except for a few outbreaks around the city, but for the past year, the problems keep popping up." Sage said then all the heads turned to Max.

"Why are you looking at me like that? It's not my fault." Max said with displeasure obvious in his voice.

"Yeah, I know that this isn't your doing but could you be cursed or something?" Eric asked.

"Not to my knowledge?" Max said with doubt.

"That's enough. We have a situation at hand. Hurry up, we leave in half an hour." Then Leopold finished the meeting.

Everyone left to check on their gear while Max ran to the middle of the square, where he saw quite a few players waiting to accept weird quests from him.

He walked towards them as he said with a loud voice, "My friends from afar, I, no, the people of Horizon needs your aid."

The players perked their ears as they listened attentively.

"Hell yeah! An event!"

"Woooo!"

"A skeleton army is approaching Horizon as we speak and we are making out stand in Fort Dawnguard! Anyone here brave enough to help us defend our homes?!"

Then he sent the quest details to the player he first interacted with. "My friend I know that you have the heart of a hero in you."

Grid looked at the NPC before looking at the quest details.

[Defeat the Skeleton Army]

- Kill as many enemies as you can.

Reward: Rewards will be distributed to the first top three who killed the highest amount of enemies.

> You have to pay 5 EXP to accept this quest.

'I need to pay to get the quest? What kind of mechanic is that?' He thought but he still 'bought' the quest as he could get much more EXP back from the skeletons later.

And the rest of the players followed his lead.

While Max looked at his growing balance and breathed a sigh of relief. 'Hopefully they can get a lot of EXP from the skeletons so that I can buy that Caladbolg III by the time the beta testing is over.'

After half an hour which the time captain gave him was over and there were no more players coming to accept the quest, Max had almost 200 players following him.

There were at most 300 hundred players in Horizon as the rest of the 1.000 players must have chosen somewhere else to spawn in.

*Whistle " Damn, you got a lot of people Max." When Eric saw the crowd following behind Max, he was surprised as he thought that Max wouldn't be able to bring that many people.

"Yeah. They wanted to help." Max said offhandedly.

"Let's go." Then Leopold took the lead.

They walked for three hours when an enormous Fort surrounded by high impenetrable walls appeared within their sight.

They had just arrived in front of the gates when light shone above them.

"Stay still. I don't want any undead folk in my fort." A man who stood above the walls shouted.

After a while of nothing happening, the light vanished as the gates opened. "Leopold, come in with your group. Leave the rest behind. I trust nothing that gets stabbed in the heart and doesn't die." The same man appeared behind the gate this time.

'Well, if I didn't know the truth, I wouldn't trust the players either. Being able to resurrect is absurd after all. People normally die when they are killed.' Max thought.

"Oh come on! I wanted to see the inside!"

"Yeah!"

"Take us in!"

Some players started protesting. But the man was unmoved. "You want me to take you in? Fat chance. Walk to the other side and make a camp. I don't care." Then the gates were closed shut.

"Still same as always Isran." Leopold said while approaching the leader of the Fort.

"And still alive." Isran said. "I didn't expect you to bring those creatures here. We are more than enough. There is a reason why Dawnguard still holds strong."

"I know. But better safe than sorry. They don't fear death so they can be of use."

"I don't trust anything that gets stabbed in the heart and doesn't die but I will make an exception just because it is you. Come, just rest for a while. According to the reports the army will take a few hours to get here."

Then they were led inside where they placed our stuff as they took a break.

Then Max found a place where he could be alone, and projected the new swords he got. Kanshou and Bakuya.

They were a perfect fit like they were made for him. 'It feels amazing.' He took a couple swings as he tested the balance and they were perfect.

They were the highest quality swords he had seen until this day, expect for Dawnbreaker. It was no normal sword.

But just projecting them was taxing on his mana. He projected them once and his mana reserves were already down to half.

So he cancelled the projections and went to find some food to replenish the amount he lost.
