9 Chapter 9

That night, Max was in his room as he was lying on his bed while checking out the Blueprint shop.

'Hmm, I got 500 EXP today and there is nothing I can buy yet, even the cheapest start from 1.000 EXP. Should I save until I can get that Caladbolg III? Since it is priced so, it should be worth it no?' He thought. 'Whatever, let's just go to sleep.' Then he closed the window as he closed his eyes drifted into sleep.

The next morning, he stood at the exact same place as he gave some odd jobs to the players just so he could give them the EXP to help them spend it all on him.

"No dancing quest this time? Shame." A player said in disappointment.

"There is backflipping though." Then another player replied.

When suddenly a bright flash of light appeared in the middle of the players as another player stepped through. "Damn. Who knew killing a rabbit would be that hard?"

"Yeah don't bother until you can get a good weapon. I still feel the phantom pains from when I was pierced through stomach."

"You set the pain limit too high?"

"Yeah, didn't know it would be that realistic. Now I'm keeping it low."

"Good choice."

"Hey, anybody know the NPC's name?"

"He is Max."

"Max, got it. I will try to find him when the game opens for public. Such good quests for a starting level is awesome."

"Yeah, I agree. I want more dancing though."

'What are you doing here lazing around damnit!? Go kill some animals and bring me more EXP!' Thought Max in annoyance.

He was out of any EXP to give for a while now and the players were just chatting around him without doing anything. 'Lazy bastards! Don't you know how much EXP I need?' He grumbled in his mind as he walked away.

He knew that most of the players were out trying to hunt and get more EXP so he could just leave now and come back when there is plenty. 'Yeah, I gotta be patient when harvesting leeks. Gotta leave them some time to grow.'

Amidst his grumblings, he reached the Drunken Huntsman as captain was just walking out. "Oh, Max just in time. There is a job. Pantera's are acting out in the East gate, go clean them up together with Sage." Leopold said.

"Again? I just got back this morning!" Max protested. "There are a lot of people here who do nothing but drink all day!" He pointed to the people who were drinking even though the sun was still up.

The people who were drinking merrily just now, shrunk back their necks as the noise quietened instantly.

Leopold took a look at them before he said, "You live here for free, you work more." He declared with finality as Sage's huge figure appeared in his vision. He armor clanked as she walked.

"You done complaining kid?" She said.

"Yeah, I'm done. Let's go." Max sighed. Even though he was complaining outwardly, he actually wanted to be assigned to more missions in this relatively safe area, or else how was he to survive when he went out into the world? And everyone in the close group knew about this so they made sure he did most of the work so that he could get more experience not that they wanted to shirk their responsibilities.

Walking from the Drunken Huntsman to the East gate nearly took an hour and reaching the designated area from the East Gate took almost two hours in the forest.

"There they are." Sage said as she crouched down while observing the panteras.

There were five of them with a chieftain munching on the corpse of an animal they hunted previously while one of them was keeping a look out.

"Just five? Why did they send the both of us?" Max asked.

"I don't know. But it doesn't hurt to be safe. Anyways lets get to work." She said as she got up while grabbing her tower shield and her axe. Meanwhile Max projected a bow and an arrow.

He nocked the arrow on the bow as he took aim at the one keeping a look out, and released the string.

The arrow travelled soundlessly and hit the mark. The pantera dropped on the ground as the arrow sticking on its head disintegrated.

Max projected another arrow as he took aim once more and released another arrow.

It was like a slaughter house as the panteras couldn't do anything against Max and Sage's attack.

They finished in no time as Max brought a cart over and they loaded the corpses then got back to the city.

The day ended without any action going on.

The next day, Max woke up to the sound of knocking coming from his door.

"Coming!" He said as he groggily got up and opened the door to see Leopold standing there.

"Emergency, hurry up." He said and left without waiting for a reply.

Max quickly wore his hunting equipment as he went downstairs.

Marcus, Eric and Elenwen were waiting there. "What's going on?" He asked as he took a seat at the table.

"A report of a skeleton army came from the scouts. They will reach the city by midday." Marcus replied.

"Any idea on their numbers?"

"Roughly 5.000."

"Damn. That's a lot."

The skeletons in this world were not like the lowest of the low monsters from the games in his previous life.

They not only had swords and shields, but they also had armors most of the time so bladed weapons, unless they were of good quality, was mostly useless. Same went for arrows as you had to have a good aim if you wanted to deal damage to them as pain was nothing for these creatures.

And most importantly, these fuckers didn't die unless you double tapped them.

Even if they were split into pieces, they would gather together once more.

To kill them completely, you had to hit them while their regeneration magic was activated.

Max was in deep thought as he opened the blueprints shop and scrolled down.

After searching for a while, he found what he was looking for.

[Blueprints]

Arrow (Petty Holy) -> 1.000 EXP

Holy enchantments worked perfectly agains the skeletons as the stopped them from regenerating.

And the arrow he got when he was first assigned the archer class was top notch.

It could even pierce the skin of a minotaur. The armors of the skeleton warriors wouldn't be of any use.

So, Max bought it without a second thought even though his wealth almost disappeared.

Record of an arrow with holy enchantment appeared in his mind.

Then a notification came from the system.

[Congratulations on Purchasing Your First Blueprint!]

[For Your First Purchase, You Have Been Given a Set of Blueprints as a Gift]

Then two other swords appeared in his Phantasm. One black and the other white.
