It's tough to forget your past when he was your future.

Suddenly Maya woke up from daze as she realized what was about to happen in a few seconds, "!!!" 

Aiden was almost giving that ringing phone a death glare, why did it have to spoil his plans!!?

Maya quickly answered her phone, it was her mother's call.

"Where are you!!!?" Samartha shouted through her phone. 

"Mom... I-" But before that, she interrupted again, "You wretched girl! I called you several times! Why didn't you pick up your phone?"  Actually Maya had put her mom's phone number under the mute list, she had programmed it such that she could only hear her mother's call if it was very urgent and the number of calls had passed four consecutive calls.

"This girl does not have any, any! respect for her parents!"

For Maya, these words had now, kind of  become a daily dose from her mother. Their conversation started with this and ended on the same note as well. 

She was pretty sure that her father was not in the room at the moment, because her mother would never dare to speak to her, or anyone in fact like this in front of David. 

Although Maya was fine with it, the person sitting with her, in the same car wasn't.

Aiden had done his research about Maya's family earlier and had known the fact that the family had messed up relations.

For a person like him, who longed for his late mother everyday, and believed that no matter what goes wrong, a mother will always be the supporting pillar in any child's life, this fact was very hard to accept.

The girl he liked, had to suffer this pain daily. It looked like she had been through this so many times that now, she looked immune to it.

The phone was not on speaker mode, but her mother's shouting voice could be clearly heard by him. Samartha expressed that she didn't want the entire family to attend the auction as it would look a bit over the top.

She was telling Maya that she did not need to come for tomorrow's auction with them as Sofia had decided that she would like to attend.

Poor Sofia who was unaware of anything going on right now, didn't know that her mother was using her again, to sow a discord between her and her sister again. 

Maya just smiled at this, she understood her mothers' actions very well. Did her mother think that she was still a naive little girl from the past who didn't understand her crazy intentions? 

"Okay mother. I had some work to attend anyways; it doesn't make much difference... And, I wanted to ask something. It's related to the money you gave to the Martin family...."

"Oh that! Now that you know about it already, you should thank me because I exposed his true colors to you! I have spent a bomb in sending him away. You understand right?"

"Hmm.... Okay, I will transfer the money soon,  goodby-"

*beep*

Maya sighed at this, she really didn't know why their mother was just so obsessed over this. She really did not want to say this, but at times, she really felt that her mother was a bit mentally unstable.

She thought of how her mother gave a huge amount of money to Lucas, so that he would leave her.

As she thought about this, Maya's eyes and nose became uncontrollably red. Although she did not cry, she felt extremely sad somehow.

Aiden started the car, and spoke to her in a low voice, "Why don't you just let everything go? Your relationship with your mom... and specially Lucas."

Despite the fact that both of them had already broken up, and Maya had seen what kind of a man that Lucas actually was, Aiden still felt jealous when he saw that Maya got so affected when her relationship with Lucas was brought up.

"It's not that easy Aiden." Maya looked at him, she had an understanding that maybe something might happen, very soon between her and this man in front of her. 

She didn't object it, if their relationship really blossomed, Maya really thought that it might be a happy one. 

Aiden was glad that she did not try to hide anything from him and avoided these talks like before.

"You may feel that I am exaggerating a bit, but let me tell you, you are not the first one to tell me this, several people like Sofia, Ashely, my father... you, all of you advised me the same thing like a hundred times, in just these few days." 

Maya laughed a bit and continued, "They told me, 'Take revenge on him!', 'Destroy his pride!', 'Snatch back the company from him, take everything under your control!' Haha!.... 'Move on'. It's funny how everyone says almost the same things when a girl goes through a heartbreak." 

Maya didn't know why she was being such an easy girl right now, but she really wanted to try being in a beautiful relationship with Aiden.

But before it all started she wanted to make some things clear to him, "Everyone says 'Move on'. Maybe I'm more of an emotional type of person, but when I invest in something, I really try to do my best. For me... it's not easy." 

Maya knew that her words may create a misunderstanding between Aiden and her, but according to her, if he left her after hearing that it was hard for her to move on from her previous engagement, he was not the person she was looking for. 

"It is really tough to forget someone from the past, when he has always been someone you imagined in your future.... "

Aiden's grip on the steering wheel had tightend a lot, so much that his knuckles had turned white. But it was not because of humiliation or anything, bit anger for Lucas. 

How brainless a man could be for not valuing such a wonderful girl? 

But Aiden was content when I realized that now, this beautiful person was willing to give him a chance. If he could not hold on to her, he would really be considered as a failed person in life.
