CHAP 36: Dungeon

Me and Tagawa walked through an backdoor, and were now in an garden, it was full of different flowers and trees, and from my limited knowledge about gardening, they seemed to be treated with very much care. I glanced at him.

"An man can't even have his hobbies without being judged? I need something to relax, and i can't work while drunk."

"I'm not judging you, just didn't to expect that. You don't seem to be the type to like gardening."

He hummed, and we continued walking towards the place where i could test my new implants. I was getting accustomed to "seeing" the electricity around me, i didn't mess around with it, even though i felt i could, since i was afraid of accidentally destroying Tagawa's implants. After walking through the quite big garden, there was an door in front of us, the ripperdoc input an code on the terminal beside it, and we entered.

The testing ground was small, but it had everything one needed. There were some big slashes on the walls, bullet holes as well, but the training dummies were intact, at least. He walked over to an terminal, and connected it to his interface. The dummies started moving.

"Well then, dachi. Time to put your chrome to use. Go all out."

I approached the robots, and pulled out my mono-wire. I've never used an whip before, but i managed to use it, plugging into one of the robots interface and overloading it's systems, frying it. With that one out of the way, i pulled back the wire, and tried cutting the waves with my hands, when i approached it with my finger, i saw it was being interrupted, but using my unmodified hand led to no results. If i didn't concentrate on the 'line', i couldn't interrupt it. When i used the wire to cut it, the bot was fully deactivated for some seconds.

"Are ya cutting the motherfuckin' connection to the bot? Just what the hell did i implant on ya?"

"I have no idea."

"I don't understand how Netwatch would do that? Concentrated EMPs? But doing so would lead to an big waste of energy, and ya don't seem tired."

"Once again, i have no idea."

"Boy, the test is done, ya can go home now."

I nodded, and exited the place. The old man seems really interested in this implant, and i can understand why, from the little i've seem from the technology on this world, doing what i was doing is very much impossible. Walking towards home was an overload of information, since i could see electromagnetic waves, and there were an whole bunch of generators of such waves around me. I think seeing the implants and their connections to the local piece of Net would be bad enough, but i was seeing the Net itself, in its essence.

The train ride was an even bigger trip, since i could feel the changes of the Net and the raw data flowing through me. When i arrived at my apartment, i immediately collapsed onto the sofa. I connected my interface to the computer, and immediately saw that i was invited for an job interview at the Central Study Center and Integral School of Tokyo. I needed an alibi for all the money i had, so i would invest on stock. The pay for the teacher job was quite good.

The interview was marked for tomorrow, so i used the free time i had at the moment to enter the dungeon. I used the Menu to access it, and as i clicked the button, my vision blacked out, and when it returned, i was in an destroyed city. The city was taken over by nature, with cars stopped on the road or crashed thorugh buildings. I heard an large amount of unsteady footsteps coming my way, and looking behind me, i saw an unforgettable scene.

Hundreds of mutilated, walking bodies, in various levels of decays. They didn't seem to have seen me, so i promptly entered one of the cars, since i could hear footsteps inside the buildings as well. I used the mono-wire to cut the window and unlocked the door, getting inside. So i went ahead and layed down on the floor of the backseat. The horde passed by, shaking the floor with their sheer number. When the dust settled down, and they had all left, i exited the vehicle. Entering the building behind me with the monowire ready.

Proceeding through the hall, and walking up the stairs, i went to the highest floor. There were two zombies on the stairs.

|+200 EXP|

They were made short work of. I was impressed by the amount of EXP they'd given.

'I won't complain, but isn't this amount of EXP an bit excessive?'

[The dungeons are more firmly established under my power, so i can more efficiently transfer you the energy. They have an bonus of 10X more EXP.]

'You could've said that sooner.'

[You would've discovered it anyways.]

'As unhelpful as always.'

I continued up the stairs, and arrived at the last floor. Making an safe place would be needed if i wanted to effectively farm this place. I went through every apartment, ridding them of the zombies. With that out of the way, i collected all their bodies and set them at the end of the main corridor. And proceeded to collect what i could to make an barrier on the stairs, and used the rope i found to effectively make an way to come and go easily. I doubt zombies can climb ropes. I then proceeded to take the corpses and throw them on the elevator shaft, since i saw it had fallen and was unusable. The other one still seemed intact, so i'll see what i can do with that.
