9 The Frontier military academy

"Mayumi's mother is my cousin and best friend. It was me who practically forced her to return under the order of upper echelon." Kisa sighed "I promised her that I will protect Mayumi. So I was always there. After her father left and put up her into the orphanage, I was needed to get close to her. So I did the insane thing. But the girl never understood the pain of her aunt" Kisa looked at Mayumi with sad eyes, "I have to waste that legendary fruit at such a young age. Now she is blaming me for protecting her. Nobody can understand the pain of me"

"I am sorry, Kisa" Mayumi sadly said

"You are an idiot," Knix said while chewing on a brown bread. Though other mercenaries had requested him to eat split-tail rabbit, he denied saying that their body needed more energy to recover than him.

"What did you say?" Before Mayumi could react, Kisa shouted.

" I said you are an idiot" Knix nonchalantly said.

"Let go of me, Mayumi. I am going to kill him" Kisa shouted

"Are you not an idiot? Seriously? Then why didn't you just adopt her? It was just an orphanage. You can adopt a child from there. You are a person who was holding a time fruit. So I am sure enough that you had some money with which you can get a home in the city and against that you can adopt her. Wasn't that the easy way out?" Without even looking back to her Knix started on munching the bread again.

Kisa stopped at the spot. She wasn't moving at all. Even the hand that Mayumi was holding was lifeless.

'I was really an idiot. Why didn't I thought of that idea? 'Surprising everyone Kisa shouted.

"We know you are an idiot so please don't act like one"

"You little." Kisa clinched her fist strongly but didn't do anything

She sat down beside Mayumi, looked at him and asked "So what about you? If you are that strong then why didn't you just take her with you to the city of Arianith? Didn't even need to risk the life of the mercenaries"

With Kisa's words, everybody stopped what they were doing, and looked at Knix. Even the mercenaries who were thankful to Knix for saving their lives were stunned. There was a point in Kisa's question.

"Do you have to prove that you are an idiot every time you speak?" Knix slowly asked.

"What?"

"Is your brain empty? Do you really think that if an unknown person comes to an orphanage and say he is going to protect her, so she should come with her, will the other party compile?" Knix took a bite and said "By the way that was the plan of my client so I have to do it. On the other note, no one is hurt other than Borobo, and his seed."

"He is right," Mayumi said.

" Look at this girl already siding with the boy over her blood relative." Kisa smiled teasingly "Girl you will make a good wife."

"What are you talking about? Who is going to marry that shameless boy?" Mayumi angrily asked.

" But you saw everything? Who is going to marry me if you don't?" Knix asked with fake tears.

" You." Mayumi was speechless.

Everybody started to laugh.

The captain looked towards Kinx. "Kinx where are we going from here? It's already been six days. We need to get moving soon"

"We will head to west from tomorrow," Kinx said

"Weren't we going to ARIANITH?"

"We are heading to ARIANITH. No matter what you say we need to get there within one month." Kisa said resolutely.

"When did I ever said that we are not heading to ARIANITH?" Kinx asked.

"But Kinx, Arianith is towards south-east and you said we will be heading towards west" Grim added

"We are getting a mode of transportation from the west"

"But Kinx, even if we need a transportation we should head towards east. We can reach the nearest city within a day and a half, on the other hand on the waste we need to go around 7 to 8 days before finding the city." As a scout of the team, Grim knew a lot about the topography of the land.

"Don't worry, just believe in me. The transportation I am getting for us is much faster than anything else you can get, so we will be heading tomorrow morning. Sleep well. Don't worry, I will be on guard" As Kinx said that, he left the campfire and went to the other side.

Silence came out of nowhere. They are not questioning Kinx's decisions they are just not understanding him.

"Kisa, is Kinx really a king?" Mayumi asked looking towards Kisa.

Kisa laughed and said "Now my baby is interested in boys. She is growing up too quickly."

Hearing this words everybody laughed, while Mayumi puffed her cheeks.

Looking at her Kisa smiled "He is not a real king, but I can say that he is a monster."

"Like a real monster?" Mayumi was curious.

"No, not like real monsters. He is just a monstrous genius." with Kisa's words everybody became attentive "The Frontier Military Academy City is a Military Academy. Where you are going to study. You need to be at the age of 13 to 16 to qualify to take the recruitment exam. They recruit in every 2 years. The recruitment took place at one of the cities of Frontier Nation. The choice of the city is random but the process remained the same. It took one month to complete the qualification exam. At the end of the exam, there will be exhibition matches. All the members will compete with each other, not in just fighting but also in military strategy. The result then reviewed under strict scrutiny and after that, they will release a list with potential beside them. All are divided into 5 steps, soldier, captain, major, general, king. This basically defines the potential of new recruitment and their future hope. Many Nation follows this recruitment and many potentially good fellow get recruited even before they completed their study."

" What I have to do to get a king potential rating?" Mayumi burning in fighting spirit.

Kisa replied with a smile "Every student who fulfil the recruitment criteria can be accepted as a soldier. Then they have to go through 5 different tests. 3 of the exam would happen through the one month and last 2 happened on the last 3 days. Someone who passed 1 exam will be captain, who passed 3 will be measured, who passed 5 will be general and to be king you have to the top of your site."

"Then shouldn't there be just one king then rather than 4?"

"The Frontier Military Academy has four wings. East West North South. South wing is ruled by Imperial, they generally only recruit the Imperial whereas the north recruits the elementals, In case of the west, most of the royal blood of all the other Kingdom, tribes and Clans gather there and for the East, it's open to all."

Kisa stopped for a moment and continued "The Imperial fraction usually give the seat of the king to the person who has the highest authority in their Empire. So the current king of the north wing is Imperial Prince. It's not that it never happened before, but never in any other wing until he appeared. He won the Crown of the King within one year of joining. So you can understand what type of power you are going to compete against."

" What I am really curious about is how your father sides able to move him. You know his title of the 'Sleeping king' is not just for show."
