CHAPTER 144

Devan corporation ~~~~~

Charlie rounded up what he was doing and called secretary Dan.

"What do you want me to do for you sir?" Secretary Dan asked.

"Get the car ready to go and pick my wife from the hospital" Charlie said.

"Yes sir" secretary Dan said and turned to leave but was stopped by Charlie.

"Wait... You all can get off work now since all the most important matters has been taken care of" Charlie said.

"Yes sir" secretary Dan said.

As secretary Dan left Charlie arranged the table, stood up and left the office taking the private elevator to the VIP parking lot. He goes down and saw secretary Dan waiting for him. He enters the car and secretary Dan drove off to M city hospital.

Eve's VIP ward~~~~~

"You are here" Eve said when she saw Charlie walk into the room. Sue and Nars has already left the hospital a while ago.

"Yes. Where are your friends, Sue and Nars?" Charlie asked.

"They left a while ago. I sent them back because I was getting tired and wanted to rest a little before you came" Eve said.

"Are you ready to go now?" Charlie asked.

"Yes, I have already packed my things. Sue and Nars helped me" Eve said.

"Okay, let us go" Charlie said and helped Eve carry her bag and they left the hospital with their baby.

Charlie's mansion~~~~~

Every one waited patiently for Eve and Charlie to arrive from the hospital. They prepared a surprise party for Eve.

"Charles just texted me now that they are almost here! Let us get ready!" Victor said.

"Yes! Yes! Michael put off the lights" Mark said.

"Okay" Michael said and went to the light switch to turn off the lights.

Charlie's car pulled up in their mansion's and he got down and rushes to open the passenger door for Eve and helped her carry the baby. Charlie took the baby from Eve and Eve got down from the car and Charlie closes the door and locks the car. Eve wanted to carry the baby back but Charlie did not allow her.

"You can give me our baby, let me hold unto him" Eve said.

"Do not worry I am okay carrying our baby son so let us go inside" Charlie said. He knew about the surprise welcome party for Eve and he wants to know how Eve will feel about it. Both of them went inside the mansion.

Eve and Charlie entered the living room and Eve noticed that the lights were off and it was dark.

"What is going on? Why are the lights off?... And where are the maids?" Eve asked. Although she could not see where she was going, she has been leaving in the mansion for quite some time now and she knew where the switch to the lights were. 

"I gave the maids a day off, that is why no one is at home" Charlie lied to Eve and she believed him and she never knew what surprise awaits her when she turns on the lights. Eve flipped the lights switch making the living room light up... But she was shocked silly with what happened when the lights came on.

"Surprise!" Everybody shouted together making Eve scared out of her wits.

"Ahhhh!!" Eve shouted and ran to hide herself at Charlie's back and this emitted laughter from everyone including Charlie.

"Baby, do not worry, there is no danger, everything is fine", "look it is my dad, mine and your friends and also the workers on the house" Charlie said chuckling. Eve slowly came out of Charlie's back and saw that everyone in the living room were people she knows and she also saw the maids and was surprised, 'did Charlie not say he gave the maids a day off?' she thought.

"I thought you said you have the maids a day off?" Eve asked frowning.

"I lied" Charlie noticed the change in Eve's mood. He went close to her and said "we wanted to surprise you with a little welcome back party. You do not like it?" Charlie was beginning to think that Eve does not like it at all. 

"We just wanted to make you happy and welcome you home from the hospital, hmm? Just forgive us, hmm?" Victor came to the rescue because the atmosphere in the living room was awkward.

"I am not angry" Eve smiled and Charlie mind came down.

"I thought you were" Charlie said.

"No I am not but I was really scared, what you all did really made me scared! I actually thought you all were ghosts!" Eve said and everyone started laughing.

"Ghosts? Really?" Victor said in between his laughs.

"Yes" Eve said pouting.

"Well, thankfully we are not ghosts or I can not imagine what you would do to us" everyone laughed. Charlie's father stepped forward and spoke first.

"You are welcome my dear" Mark said.

"Thanks dad" Eve hugged Mark.

"You are welcome Eve" Racheal and Ginger said one after the other while hugging Eve.

"Thanks" Eve said.

Sue and Nars were the last people to welcome Eve.

"Welcome babe!" Nars said and hugged Eve.

"Thanks Nars" Eve said smiling.

"Welcome girl!" Sue said and hugged Eve.

"Thank you Sue" Eve said.

Eve was very happy. She definitely did not expect that a welcome party would be organized for her and by this she was deeply touched. Looking at everyone happy she suddenly remembered her parents....

Charlie looked at Eve and he noticed that Eve was not happy.

"What is the matter wifey?" Charlie asked.

"Nothing... I just remembered my parents" Eve said. Charlie hugged Eve and used his hands to pat her head.

"Will they be proud of me?" Eve asked Charlie.

"Wherever they are they will be proud of you" Charlie said.
