Chapter sixty five

(Matthew's POV)

"Is that a way to greet your father-in-law?" He chuckles darkly.

"You bastard!" I growl in blinding rage, the need to lope his head off his body is strong but these chain are a hinderance.

"Don't talk to His Lordship like that you stupid mutt," Silas yells from his place at the door.

John raises a hand, causing the vampire to go quiet. "That is enough. You may all leave now," He orders with a flick of his wrist.

The guards at the door give me a threatening glare before marching away.

We stand in silence, glaring at each other as their footsteps recede until we cannot hear them anymore.

"This place suits you, Matthew," John says with a smirk.

"What are you?" It's obvious that he isn't human.

"Me? I'm just a father protecting his daughter from a horrible fate," He replies, still glaring down at me as if I was an annoying spec of dust.

"What?! I'm guessing you know we're mates so separating is much worse, Einstein," I snarl sarcastically.
