43 Chapter forty two

(Cassandra's POV)

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

I come awake with a start and fling my hand to the side to turn off the beeping.

*Smash*

The alarm clock shatters and its parts fall to the floor. I sit up and lean over the bed to look at the desecrated clock.

It's a really old clock so the screws might have loosen over time.

I slide off the bed and walk into the bathroom with groggy feet to do my business.

It's Sunday which means a whole lot of cleaning to do.

As I brush my teeth in front of the mirror, something catches my eye causing me to pause. Did my canines get longer?

I use a finger to poke at it and it breaks skin causing me to wince. Blood pours from the sound in small drops and that's when I see it.

Little tiny white hairs are littered around my wrist all the way to the back of my palm and my fingernails are longer than usual.

I flinch in fright as I stare at my hands in horror and confusion.
