(Cassandra's POV)

"Dad?"

I blink repeatedly and squint. I considered whacking him in the head with one of the chairs in my hands but I might get arrested for assault.

I release a shaky breath as my eyes finally confirm that it was really my father that just answered the door.

"Sandy, how have you been? It's been so long my dear," he says, a happy grin on his face but I'm sure it's fake. It can't be real if he just abandoned me like that.

The reminder of my past makes my eyes burn with unshed tears that I force back. I walk into the house, ignoring him and drop the chairs in the space meant for the dining.

"Good evening," Matthew greets and my dad just grunts with a displeased glare as if he was staring at a bug that he wanted to squash but couldn't.

Matthew follows after me and places the table in the middle of the two chairs. I didn't miss the glare my dad gave Matthew earlier but I won't speak on it. I'm so confused right now.
