Chapter 8: I will bring him down

She desperately needed someone to talk to.

Alena sat down next to Augustine on the couch, her eyes scanning his face as she asked, "Augustine, do you know a man called Albert Thompson?"

Alena's eyes narrowed slightly, and she leaned in, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "What do you know about him ?"

Augustine nodded thoughtfully. "Albert Thompson... Yes, I know of him. He's a successful businessman, isn't he? Owns a few companies, quite wealthy."

Alena's eyes locked onto Augustine's, searching for any hint of more information.

"That's all you know about him?" she asked, her tone gentle but inquiring.

Augustine shook his head. "I'm afraid so. I don't really move in the same social circles as him, so I don't know much about his personal

Augustine got up from the couch and walked over to the coffee table, where his phone was charging.

"Let me see what I can find out about Albert Thompson," he said, picking up his phone and starting to type away.

Alena watched Augustine with interest, wondering what he might dig up about Albert. She got up from the couch and walked over to Augustine, peering over his shoulder at the phone screen.

After a few minutes of scrolling through his phone, Augustine looked up at Alena with a thoughtful expression.

"It seems Albert Thompson is quite the philanthropist," he said. "He's involved with several charitable organizations and has donated to various causes over the years."

Alena raised an eyebrow, skeptical of Albert's philanthropic efforts. "That's interesting," she said. "But what about his personal life? Is there anything about that online?"

Augustine's eyes scanned the phone screen, his expression growing more serious.

"It looks like Albert Thompson has a bit of a reputation when it comes to his relationships," he said, his voice low.

Alena's eyes locked onto Augustine's, her curiosity piqued.

"What kind of reputation?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Augustine hesitated, as if unsure of how to reveal the information.

"It seems that Albert has a history of...let's just say, 'using' people," he said, his tone diplomatic. "There are rumors of him being involved with multiple women at the same time, and...and Ryan."

Alena's eyes widened in shock, her mind racing with the implications. She had heard rumors about Albert's treatment of Ryan, but she had never thought that it was this.

' So he's really a bad person, Maybe I should use this chance to get my dad out of jail. I can succeed in making him fall in love with me and then break his heart, it won't be cruel. Maybe he deserves it.'

Alena thought while they dug deep into Albert's information.

Alena's eyes flashed with anger as she thought about Albert's treatment of Ryan and the other women in his life. She felt a surge of determination and decided that she was going to take him down.

Augustine's eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at Alena. "Alena, what's going on?" he asked, his voice low and curious.

"Why are you suddenly asking about Albert Thompson?"

Alena hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal to Augustine.

She opened her mouth to respond, but before she could say anything, Sophia burst into the room.

"Alena, I've been looking all over for you!" Sophia exclaimed.

Alena felt a surge of frustration at the interruption. She had been on the verge of revealing something important to Augustine, and now Sophia had ruined the moment.

" Mom, I am here. What is it ?" Alëna asked.

" Stop asking me questions and help me to prepare dinner. I have many books for the students to mark." Sophia said.

" Okay Mom." Alena responded and went to the kitchen to cook.

After the family went for dinner which later everyone went to their bedrooms.

The next day, Alena arrived at the hospital, her heart racing with anticipation. She spotted Mariam sitting in the waiting area, sipping a cup of coffee.

Mariam looked up and caught Alena's eye, a sly smile spreading across her face.

"Alena, darling," she said, standing up to greet her. "I'm so glad you could make it."

Alena took a deep breath, her mind made up. "I've thought about it, Mariam," she said, her voice firm. "I'll do it. I'll take Albert down."

Mariam's smile grew wider, and she let out a triumphant laugh. "Excellent," she said, her eyes glinting with satisfaction.

"I knew I could count on you, Alena."

" But promise me that once I succeed my father's debts will be paid off." Alëna wanted to be sure.

" Worry not about that. First of all, You are going to quit your job. I already told Doctor Lee to find Ryan another nurse." Mariam.

" Why should I quit my job ?" Alëna asked with confusion.

Mariam waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry, Alena. I'll take care of you. I'll give you a new profile, one that will make you irresistible to Albert. You'll be set for life."

Alena hesitated, unsure of what to do. Quitting her job was a huge risk, but the promise of a new profile and a chance to take down Albert was tempting.

Alena took a deep breath and nodded her head. "Okay, I'll do it," she said, her voice firm. "I'll quit my job and trust that you'll give me a new profile."

Mariam's face lit up with a triumphant smile. "Excellent," she said, her eyes glinting with satisfaction. "I'll send you the details of your new profile. Just remember, Alena, you have to be careful. Albert is not a man to be underestimated."

Alena nodded, her mind made up. She was ready to take on Albert and bring him down.

That evening, Alena walked into her office, her heart pounding in her chest. She took a deep breath, walked up to her boss's desk, and handed in her resignation letter.
