"W-Who *sob* are you? Where a-are you?" I asked in between sobs and snot. As much as I tried to look around me, I could see no one.
"We're here, Child of the All-Giving, at the other end of the room." A different voice spoke this time. It sounded masculine, deep and wise. I was scared, clearly out of my usual state of mind, not understanding what he meant by "Child of the All-Giving". I still hadn't had time to take in everything that had just happened and now I was already dealing with something I couldn't understand.
Still, I had to check this voices, however weird the whole thing was and however stupid it was of me. I couldn't care less then. Thus, I began walking towards the other end of the room. The closer I got, the stronger the weird feeling in my heart grew. I couldn't control it, but I could feel disgusted with myself. I somehow was feeling... excitement. In spite of everything, in spite of having just lost my family, in spite of the fact that I shoul have been grieving... I felt excited when I heard the voices. Either something weird was truly going on or I was going crazy, and I leaned towards the latter.
"Ah, finally we can see your face, Child of Pandora." A third voice spoke this time. This one sounded younger, almost similar to my own voice, but still as wise as the second to speak. That was when I saw the source of the voices.
Three ancient looking relics of goldand different colors. I couldn't understand how I was so sure these were the ones talking to me right now, but I was. And had the third voice just now called me "Child of Pandora"? What did it mean by that? Pandora was the first human ever, created by Hephaestus under Zeus's orders, but why would they call me her child?
"I am sure you must be very confused, but please understand that there is nothing to be worried about." The first voice to speak told me. It was a feminine voice, now that I paid more attention to it. Only then did I realize what each relic actually was. I, who had studied mythologies as a hobby for a very long time, had no difficulty recognizing them. The first one looked like a cross with a fork on top, the middle one looked like a cross too, but with an eye above it, and the last one looked like an eye. They each had different colors, the first one being silver with yellow, the middle one being gold and black and the last one silver and green.
"Wait a second... Isis... Osiris and... Horus... the Young?" I asked, my voice laced with disbelief and confusion. If before I had been scared, now I truly was flabbergasted. Everything made a little bit more sense, but it was even more nonsensical than before, if that somehow made any sense at all.
"Oho? So you recognize us based on just these relics?" The relic of Osiris asked. Now I understood why his voice was so full of wisdom. Osiris, God of the dead, resurrection and agriculture, as well as the one who presides over fertility and the Nile. One of his many jobs is that of the judge who decides the destiny of the dead, be it eternity or being devoured.
"I am so glad her child knows who we are." Isis said with clear happiness in her tone. Isis, thought to be either sister or wife of Osiris depending on what you read, and mother of Horus the Young. She was a Goddess of love, healing and magic, sometimes considered as the mother goddess of fertility and the moon too. She was responsible of bringing Osiris back from the dead when he was drowned in the Nile by his younger brother, Seth.
"Mother, father, of course he would know who we are!" Horus said. I was now completely sure this one was Horus the Young, son of Osiris and Isis. he was a God of war related to both the sun and the moon, but it was hard to draw the line between him and Horus the Elder. He was also known for being the one to beat Seth and bring back order. After the romans adopted him, he became a god of silence and confidentiality.
"Wh-What, how, why, what?!" I babbled in a slip of both the mind and the tongue. I was truly uncapable of understanding –or coping with– what was happening. I had truly gone crazy now, I was talking to ancient relics and hearing voices of ancient Egyptian gods.
"Please calm down, Child, this is not a hallucination, nor are you crazy." Osiris said, making me breath deep a few times and allowing oxygen to reach my brain... however little oxygen was left inside the pyramid.
"Umm... could you perhaps... explain to me what exactly is going on?" I requested once I had finally calmed down enough to produce a coherent sentence. I admit I was a bit scared of talking to deities if they were real. Though I was more scared of talking to voices in my head that weren't real so... the former was still better in my opinion.
"It might take some time to explain everything so I will make it short." Osiris said with a no nonsense flair to his voice. He was clearly being serious now, so I decided to shut up and listen.
"Gods are real, every single one of them. There are even gods who you only thought of as characters of fiction, rather than mythology, who are real. These "Gods" though, don't care about their believer, but only about bringing chaos and destruction to the world." Osiris explained something that sounded rather... dangerous, and perhaps a bit too dark to my liking. But I still listened intently on what he said.
"Those gods have been unable to act for millennia, but they are starting to wake up and trying to act over mortal life. That is where you come in, Child of Pandora." Isis took over and gave me a bit more info. I still didn't understand how I was involved in all of this and how exactly I was a Child of Pandora.
"You see, those with the blood of Pandora, the first human to be created, have the potential to slay gods and take their powers as their own. There is only one Child of Pandora, or a Campione, in each generation, but there had never been a need for one. It is our luck that now you, the Campione of this generation, happened upon us today." Horus the Young explained, bringing a bit more light onto the whole thing. Still, I was in no mood to deal with this. I had just lost everything I had, and I wasn't up to do anything, whether I was a Campione or whatnot.
"We know of what just happened, and we are extremely sorry for you. Alas, I think you will be extremely happy to hear what we have to say." Osiris said cryptically. Anyways, I had nothing to lose in listening to them. I was going to die from a lack of oxygen at some point anyways, unless I was somehow rescued.
"I'm listening... I mean, I have nothing to lose." I said, clearly showing a lack of interest in life at all. I still felt disgusted at the feeling of excitement I was doing my best to keep at the back of my head.
"Oh but you have everything to gain, Alan Seong." Isis said, clearly knowing something that they hadn't told me yet. And I was beginning to lose my patience.
"If you have something to say, please say it now." I demanded, rather than asked. I was in no mood for them to be hyping things up.
"Basically, you can see your family again. After all, what we plan on doing is sending you to a different universe, one where they are still alive and this never happened. Only difference would be you knowing everything we just said... plus a few bonuses." Horus said. I could clearly tell he was the one more in line with my own personality.
"How... is that... is that truly possible?" I questioned in disbelief. If what they said was true then... I would do anything to be able to see them again. I had already forgotten about everything else, grasping onto the only chance I had of seeing my family again.
"It is, Child. You would claim some of our powers as your own, and then we would send you to a different universe. Before doing that, though... we must make some things clear. There are rules to being a Campione and you can't just do whatever you want." Isis said, with a pitying tone to her voice. She clearly didn't like to put me through all of this after what I had just suffered, which made me trust them a lot more. For some reason, I just could tell she wasn't acting or lying in any way.
"Now, if you want to do this, just say so. We will then procede to explain what your role will be and everything else." Osiris said, this time in a much more amicable tone than he had been using before. I, for one, had nothing to think about.
"I'll do it." And thus I had sealed the deal.
-----------------
This chapter was to shed a bit of light onto what a Campione is in this Fanfic. It is not exactly the same as those in the anime, and neither will be the Heretic Gods. For one, there can only exist one Campione at a time, that is all you need to know for now, until I release next chapter, at least.
By the way, I've made a D*I*S*C*O*R*D server so that you can talk with me about the story or just hang out and whatever. The link is in the comments! And the synopsys.
