Chapter 14

It was a Saturday, a very boring Saturday. We had nothing to do. Well all except Justin really. He was going on a date with Michelle. I tried to schedule a hang out with Maddy but she had plans with her family.

Jordan, Jake and I were playing a video game while Justin was getting ready for his date. But we weren't enjoying the game at all. We weren't even putting in our best at all. Eventually, we just quit. Justin came out all dolled up in black jeans with a beige shirt. He ruffled his hair to give it that untamed look and I gotta say, he pulled it off nicely.

The shirt was taunt enough to show off his lean muscular build. I nodded my head in approval. "Glad you approve Josie", he chuckled. "Well yeah. It's obvious that I'm the one with exquisite taste around here". I saw Jordan and Jake roll their eyes simultaneously and I giggled.

"Anyway so where are you taking her?" I asked. "Well, we're going to the observatory. Mitchie is a science nerd, then we're going for a romantic lunch at the park and finally the movies".

Jordan nodded," whatever you do, do not make out in the theatre or have bathroom sex". "Dude", Justin said throwing a pillow at him. "Jordan's right", Jake agreed, "it's really annoying seeing couples make out in the theatre or going to use the bathroom and hearing moans. It's really disgusting".

I was turning red in my seat trying to stifle my laugh. Justin looked mildly annoyed. "Are you guys done?"he asked pinching the bridge of his nose. "Yeah", "pretty much", they muttered.

He rolled his eyes. "Don't worry guys, we won't have sex or make out. Okay?" They nodded. "Okay guys can you just stop?" I asked grossed out. "Awwn, is wittle Josie disgusted by our grown up talk?" Jordan cooed in a baby voice. I rolled my eyes. "Whatever".

"Anyway guys, I'm heading out". "Later", "Bye", "sayonara" we replied.

An hour later, we were still very bored with nothing to do. Then Jake had an awesome idea. "Hey guys", he called. "What?", "What's up?" Jordan and I replied. "What if we spy on Jordan and Michelle on their date?" "Why would we do that?" I asked. "A better question Josie would be how do we do that?" Jordan asked sitting up. He looked really interested.

"First Josie, we have nothing better to do and second Jordan, why don't you come and find out", Jake replied with a knowing smile on his face. Jordan and I shared a look, shrugged and stood to follow Jake who had already made for his room.

We entered and found Jake bringing out a box from his closet. "I never thought we'd get a chance to use this when I bought it but I'm glad we do", he said still smiling. He opened the box. "Lady and gentleman, I present to you, spy stuff".

Inside the box was a bunch of stuff needed for stakeouts or spying. Camouflage outfits, binoculars, tree hats, eye black, tracking devices. You name it, it's here. "Woah, where did you get all this stuff?" Jordan exclaimed. "I bought them online. Pretty cool huh?" Jake replied

"Why did you buy it?" I asked. He shrugged, "I dunno, saw it online and ordered". I was dumbfounded. "Here", he said handing us our clothes, "I had them in your sizes. We've probably already missed the observatory but I'm sure we can catch them at the park."

I was excited. I took mine and ran to my room to get changed. Jake is definitely the weird one amongst us but he sure does come in handy. I changed into the camouflage cargo pants, a black tank top and a matching camouflage jacket. On a second thought, I decided to tie the jacket around my waist instead. I paired it with my black knee length boots and I put my hair in a ponytail. I used some black eyeshadow and mascara and went outside.

The guys had already changed too. We were wearing pretty much the same thing except theirs was a black round neck shirt instead of a tank top. They paired it with combat boots and I saw that they had also tied their jackets around their waists. Jordan nodded, "wow guys, we look amazing". "Yeah we do", Jake agreed giving him a high five.

"Uh guys, there's only one problem", I pointed out, "how are we gonna get there?" "I thought of that too", Jake smiled, "I rented a car and had it delivered. It should be here soon". On cue, we heard the honk of the car. "Ooh right on time", Jake said excitedly. He walked to the window and yelled to the person who brought it. "Just leave the key in the ignition. Thank you!" I didn't hear what the other person said.

"Alright, who's ready to go spy on my brother and his date?"

"Ooh ooh I am", Jordan said walking outside. "Me too", I added. We went outside. The car was a sleek black Porsche. "Nice. I'm driving", Jordan declared. "Not if I get there first", Jake retorted and they both took off to the driver's seat.

I sighed pinching the bridge of my nose. Boys. Eventually Jordan won the squabble. He was stronger anyway. Jake reluctantly sat in the front seat and I sat at the back. "Okay", Jake started clearly having gotten over his disappointment, "so we head to the park now to wait for them or if we're lucky they'll already be there. Everyone got their tree hats?"

"Yup", "absolutely", we chorused. In case y'all are wondering what a tree hat is, it's basically a hat with leaves on it so we can blend in with the bushes. Jordan zoomed off. In no time we arrived at the park. We parked the car and were about to get down when I remembered. "Guys wait". "What?" Jordan asked.

"We forgot to use the eye black". Eyeblack is sorta like paint. It's what football players and soldiers use to paint two stripes on each cheek under their eyes. "Oh yeah", Jake said, "good thing we have it in the box". He took it out, used it, passed it to Jordan who used it and then passed it to me. "Okay, now we're ready".

We got down and walked a bit around the park. People were staring at us a bit but we didn't care. Luckily, we saw Justin and Michelle. They seemed to be having a romantic picnic and luckier for us, there was a bush we could hide behind. It was almost too easy.

We crawled behind them and each took a pair of binoculars. These ones were special kinds that are wirelessly connected to a special ear piece that allows us to hear what they're saying. "Did you make all this yourself?" Michelle was asking. Justin scratched his head, "err no, I ordered all this".

She smirked at him. "Oh how life would be if I was rich", she said giving a wistful sigh. "Uh...", Justin froze looking nervous at that. "Relax babe, I'm just messing with you". She kissed his cheek or should I say tried to because Justin turned his head at that time and kissed her on the mouth.

"That's my boy", I heard Jordan say from beside me. "I thought you thought kissing in public was annoying", I said with a raised brow. "No", he shook his head, "I said kissing in theaters was annoying. The park is okay". I rolled my eyes at him.

"You know, I've never really understood you guys relationship with Josie", Michelle began and my ears peaked at that. "You're not related to her and yet neither of you seem to be romantically involved with her". Justin smiled at that. "Josie is our sister. Maybe not by blood but she is either way".

"Okay but that doesn't explain why she's living with you", she stated. Justin sighed, "well it's kinda complicated. She's been through some pretty bad shit in her life... It's not really my story to tell. But the point is we all love her and we would do anything for her". I smiled to myself at that. I didn't doubt that at all. "Couldn't have said it better myself", I heard Jake whisper.

"So none of you like like her?" Michelle asked unsurely. We all burst out laughing at that - the four of us. "Of course not. She's pretty much the sister I never had. Josie's like the fourth piece to our puzzle. The three of us aren't really complete without her and well we're stronger together and there for each other. Yes I love her but I could never be in love with her. That'd be gross", Justin replied.

Talk about me ended there and they talked about other trivial things. "You wanna take a walk?" Justin asked a while after they had finished eating. "Sure", she smiled. He stood up then pulled her up. They walked hand in hand. We decided to give them a few minutes head start so we wouldn't be spotted. "Okay, they should have gone far enough", Jake said after a while. "Come on".

We stood up and walked a little far behind them. Someone asked us what we were doing and we told them we were Live Action Role Playing (LARPing). I was looking into my binoculars at Justin and Michelle when I bumped into someone and almost fell. Strong steady hands caught me. "Woah, thanks", I said before looking up to see who it was. Talk about deja Vu.

"We have got to stop bumping into each other like this", Tony said chuckling. "Tony what are you doing here?" I asked. He raised a brow and smirked at that. "Last time I checked this was a public park. What are you doing dressed like this?"

He hadn't let me go yet but I don't think he noticed. I certainly didn't mind. The guys seemed to nice that I wasn't with them and headed back. "Josie, where are you? Oh hey Tony", Jake said getting to us. Tony dropped his hands then and I inwardly sulked.

"I see you're with company", Tony said. Jordan arrived just then too. "Where's Justin?" Tony asked, "I mean you're all here, he's the only one missing".

"He's currently on a date with his girlfriend and we were spying on him before you held Josie up", Jake said. My eyes widened and I stepped on his foot. "Ow", he yelled holding it. "Okay I hate to cut in but Tony it's been nice seeing you but we have a couple to chase so later", Jordan said pulling me and Jake along. I allowed myself to be pulled. I turned back to find Tony staring at out retreating figures in amusement. I waved and he waved back.

We were able to catch up to them. We saw Michelle trip over nothing and Justin caught her. It all looked very cliche. A while later it seemed they were done with their park date because they were packing up. Up next, the theatre.

The car Jake rented had tinted windows so we were able to drive behind them without Justin noticing who was behind the wheel. They didn't suspect a thing. We got to the theatre and had to wait for them to get in before we could. "Guys, we dunno what movie they're going to see", Jordan pointed out.

"I'll take care of that", I said. I texted Justin.

Me: what movie are you guys going to see?

He replied almost immediately.

Justin: the sun is also a star. Why?

Me: nothing. Just curious.

"I got it guys", I said, "they're seeing a movie called, 'the sun is also a star'. We should get going". "How'd you do that?" Jake asked. "I have my ways". "You texted him didn't you?" He raised a brow. "Yes", I sighed.

We had to clean off the eyeblack so as not to seem too weird. And we took off the tree hats, they weren't really any bushes here. We entered, bought our tickets and popcorn and drinks. We sat a few rows behind them. Sometimes, during the movie, we threw popcorn at them. Anytime they looked back we'd duck or hide.

Since it was dark our outfits helped us stay hidden. We saw Michelle rest her head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her. Awwn pretty cute. We kept throwing popcorn at them and it was really hilarious to watch them look back for the culprit.

It was all fine till we saw Justin bring out his phone. I wonder what he wants to do. Then we heard Jake's phone ring out loud and pretty much everyone in the theatre turned to stare including Michelle and Justin who had a knowing smirk on his face and his phone on his hand.

"Uh- oh. Busted", Jake said sheepishly. You couldn't put your phone on silent", Jordan whisper yelled glaring at Jake. "I never put my phone on silent and Justin knows this. He must have figured out who it was and wanted to prove it".

I saw Justin whisper something to Michelle and stand up. He walked up to us and we all had embarrassed looks on our faces. "Well well well", he whispered, "look what we have here". "What do we have here?" I asked feigning innocence at being caught in the act. He simply smirked, "the three of you outside now".

"You don't tell us what to do", Jordan said adamantly. "Now!!" He whisper yelled. We all stood up with our heads down like kids who got caught with their hands in the candy jar. We got to the lobby. "Okay, first, what the hell are you wearing?" Justin asked looking like a dad scolding his kids.

It was almost comical except we were the ones being scolded. "We're wearing spy gear", Jake answered.

"Why?"

"Because we were spying on you", he choked out. Justin face palmed, "why?"

"Because we had nothing better to do", Jordan answered.

"I can't believe you were a part of this Josie. I thought you were the responsible one. Wait, was that why you asked which movie I wanted to see". I shrugged. "I can't believe you guys. How long?" Justin asked seemingly disappointed. "Oh just since you were in the park", I answered like I was talking about the weather.

He face palmed again and said, "you ruined my date. I'm supposed to be in there with Michelle right now". "Well why aren't you?" Jake asked. "Because I'm scolding you guys". I couldn't help it, I burst into a fit of giggles at that. "Oh okay. You can stay here and scold us or you can go in there and keep on cuddling your girlfriend. It's your choice really", Jake said shrugging.

"How can I go in when I know you guys will just come back", he asked visibly frustrated. "Oh, we'll head on home since we've already been caught and spying on someone who knows he's being spied on is no fun", Jordan said.

"Fine then, wait, how are you guys gonna go home?", Justin asked. Jordan and Jake had matching smiled on and looked at each other. "Why don't you come find out?" They chorused.

He followed us outside and his jaw literally dropped when he saw the car. "OMG sweet ride", he exclaimed. He was in awe. "Where did you guys get it?"

"All shall be revealed later young pupil", Jake replied in an ominous voice. Justin rolled his eyes. We got in the car, gave him a wave and drove off. Meanwhile, in the car, we burst out laughing.

So it has been proven that those kids are really mischievous especially Jake. Poor Justin, he couldn't even have a private date with his girlfriend. I'm sure he'll have his revenge soon.
