Chapter 2: The New Kid

Akane and Akito then decided that they should go look for that pathway again out in the woods. So, they packed a bag, and headed on their way. Hours passed, and they still haven't found the path. Akito then said, "what if the path only appears at certain times or on certain days." So, they decided they would head back home for lunch and come back out when the right time appears.

When they got home, they saw their mom making them lunch. Their mom then asked, "what have you two been doing all morning?" Akane quickly said "exploring." As if she didn't want her mom to know the truth. Then their mom said "again, you two really do like to explore don´t you." Akito then said, "I love it, it's fun." Seconds later they saw the cube appear behind their mom. They both instantly stopped moving and froze in place. Their mom then turned around to see what they were looking at. She saw nothing there. She then turned back towards her kids and said, "what are you looking at, you are just staring at the wall, why?" The kids then unfroze and stared at their mom. Their mom then asked, "why are you looking at me now." Akane then said, "you don't see it?" "See what" said their mom. Akane instantly replied back saying "nothing, I guess we are just seeing things." Akito then tried telling his mom what was behind her, but mid-word Akane stopped him. Akito then whispered to Akane "why are you lying to mom?" "I just don't want her to worry, since she can't even see it." Said Akane.

Akito said "I guess that's true, this can be a secret for just the two of us." Akane nodded in confirm "Akito, can I talk to you in the other room for a moment." As they walk into the other room, the two began to talk. "We need to find out more information before we can do or say anything." Said Akane. "As long as it's only us that can see it, we can keep it hidden." "But what if someone else can see it?" said Akito. "We'll deal with that if it ever happens, at that time" replied Akane.

They both re-entered the kitchen. They sat down saying nothing to their mom and had their lunch. After lunch the two headed upstairs. Akane opened her bedroom door, but before they could enter the room, they stopped. The cube was sitting on Akane's bed. They are slowing started moving into Akane's room. They sat in front of the cube on the floor. Akito then said "Akane, it's a different colour again." Akane said "yeah it's a purple colour now!" They both were staring at the cube saying nothing, not even moving. The cube didn't move, it wasn't disappearing either. So Akane put her hand out in front of her, reaching for the box. She touched it. It still is just sitting on the bed without moving. Then Akane reached out her other hand, as if she wanted to pick it up. Once both her hands were touching it the cube, the cube change colour again. It was the neon green colour, then blue, then it disappeared. Akane said " it changed colour twice, and did it in front of us." Akito replied "yeah that's true, but did you notice the cube has a pattern. The pattern changed, when the colour changed."

Akito looked at the clock, then said "Akane, it's almost time to head out."

As they walked into the forest, they ran into one of Akane's friends. His name was Daichi. Daichi then asked Akane what was behind her. Akane and Akito quickly turned around to see, "it's the cube!" yelled Akito. Akito then grabbed Akane's arm to whisper to her. He said "it seems that like Daichi can see it as well." "So, it seems" says Akane. "So Daichi" Akane begins." "You can see this thing." As Akane grabs it out of the air. "Yeah, I guess so, am I not supposed to?" Said Daichi. "No, of course not" said Akane. "It's just that our mom couldn't see it earlier today. So, we thought we were the only ones that could see it." "Oh" said Daichi.

"Where were you heading Daichi?" said Akito. "I was actually heading over to your house," said Daichi. "Oh" said Akane. "Where were you guys headed" said Daichi. The box suddenly, disappeared out of Akane's hands. Daichi then said, "where did the box just go?!" "Were not to sure, it's been doing this for a while" said Akane. "We're heading into the forest now, to find out more about this box. Would you like to come with us Daichi?" Said Akito. "Sure, is it ok that I tag along?" Said Daichi.

Akane and Akito began leading the way through the forest. As they walked and walked, it was silent no one could think of anything to say to each other. Then Akito said "look there it is." They started to walk faster and faster, like it was almost a sprint. They finally made it.

As they started walking down the path Daichi said "is the surroundings around us changing? Or am I just going crazy?" "Nope" said Akane. "We don't know much about it either. That's another thing we are trying to figure out."

They finally reached where they first found the box. "This is where you first found the box? This area looks kind of creepy, doesn't it?" Said Daichi. "Yeah, I guess it does. The first time we came we here, we were too distracted to pay attention to everything around us. We were too panicked by the box." Said Akane. "What were you panicking about?" Said Daichi. "Well we saw a random box just floating in the middle of the forest, then we saw it just disappear out of nowhere. Wouldn't you be frightened?" said Akane. "I guess so" said Daichi. "But this time we can take our time looking around. Looking for clues or something to go with." Said Akane.
