As the hand was nearing his body, Jake had the instinctive reaction to twist the assilants arm, and throw him over his shoulder onto the floor. But he stopped, as he realised that it was his best bud, Grud Snozzlinger. He allowed his hand to slap him in the back, with Grud being nonetheless wiser.
"Well, well, well, if it ain't our one minute celebrity, Mr. Jake Benson, criminal extraordinaire. So, how was the police? Any nice ladies?" A joking voice asked, still very muffled. "Haha, Grud. Very funny." Embarrassed due to being told out loud, Jake quickly shuffled his way in, while everyone kept giving him dirty looks.
Just as he walked in, all the boys started clapping spontaneously, with even a few catcalls from the top caste. "Keep your head up man, you're a celebrity now. Enjoy the fame." Opening his arms as wide he possibly can, Grud showerednin the revel along with Jake. "Yeah, and why don't they celebrate you, huh? You were there with me that day."
"With you? Yes. Fighting gloriously with my life on line, and defeating the bad guy? No." Putting away his pompous expression, he then replied forlornly "You do remember that I was knocked out within the first couple of minutes. All I did was stall for time, nothing more, nothing less." At the end of the sentence, Grud wistfully reminded Jake, his voice even softer. Jake stopped talking, and remained silent with Grud
Just as they were reminiscing, a sudden ring interrupted them. They realised it was the school bell, which meant that class was about to begin. They were over a hundred meters away from the classroom door, and they knoew that they would never be able to reach there in time. Just as they were despairing, the hallway parted in two.
Curious, they where wondering why the split aloccured, when all of a sudden cheers erupted. They realised soon that it was mostly the troublemakers who were cheering, in awe that someone was arrested, and not by anyone, but by the justice hall themselves. They felt that they had ashamed all those who have come before them.
Blushing, the duo continued their way in, all tbe while ignoring the catcalls directed atbthem. One spiky haired delinquent nearly even grabbed their bagsnof their shoulders, adamant on carrying it for them, claiming "This is the greatest glory for us!" Only at their strong insistence were Jake and Grud able to keep their bags. A few girls even gave their numbers to them, laden with lipstick kiss marks, giving the universal signal language to call them.
Cheeks still red, they managed to get to class, which unfortunately, or fortunately, happened to be Mrs. Hunton's class. Snapping back onto reality, they quickly stepped in the classroom, glad that this fiasco is behind them.
