"Fuck, I hate been useless "
Hunter cursed under his breathe as visibility got poorer, the more they moved ahead.
Immediately a siren rang out loud that blared its sounds, making everyone ears to ring continously for some seconds. Almost everyone were forced to stop as they clutched their ears, trying to shield the sensitive inner flesh from the harsh echos. Both Hayden and Hunter weren't an exception.
The slow trickle of something wet from his ears told him that this test really wasn't a joke as he could feel the smell of iron as both his and Haydens blood got scorched before touching the ground. The same could be said for others as sone were petrified of seeing their own blood.
'It feels like a Banshee, but if it really was a Banshee, I doubt anyone would still be twitching with life here. No one weak hears the cursed scream and still live'. With Banshee been ruled out, he could still feel the pain. Despite that he didn't stop thinking of the possible attacker or how to get out of this.
The clanking of metals and screaming of a ginger haired kid rushing past broke him out of his thoughts. Looking up he could see the Knight and the Edsheeran lookalike moving ahead. The Knight clad in armour looked fine as it continued it's movement, albeit slow unlike before but still moving. Meanwhile, the ginger haired boy was knocked out cold with his blood smeared around his face and palm, which made you wonder if he fell unconscious due to the sound blast or because of seeing his own blood.
'lucky' he thought to himself while looking around. Been a Mentalist, he tried to lessen the pressure on his brain by disconnecting his mind from the aspects of reality, by simply diving into his thoughts.
"Hayden" he called out to his twin.
"Hayden!" he called out again, this time loudly than before.
"Hu..n..t..er?" Hayden asked with quite some difficulty as he raised his face, upon seeing most of the folks either lying on their floor face flat or on their knees, he realized he too wasn't standing. Only just a few were still standing, but they weren't faring anybetter.
"Breathe in and out, slowly first then rapidly"
Listening to his brother's instructions by breathing in and out slowly which helped to clear his head. He continued this for about thirty seconds as he could feel the pain, confusion and distortion of his senses getting lesser than before. Immediately, he began to breathe out rapidly. He could feel an organ in him working faster than normal. Within seconds a sweet hot sensation began to spread all over his body, adrenaline!.
Hunter knowing fully well it was time quickly opened his eyes and shouted.
"Hayden move". His voice was drowned out by the sound of the siren but Hayden heard him loud and clear.
"Hayden who was now on a knee gritted his teeth as he tried to stand up.
"No..one..fuc..kin ...to..l..d..us...this...wa...s a test!" He screamed out loud, his eyes now bloodshot. Carrying Hunter on his back, he looked around as some folks who were once immobilised were already on their feet and very few were on their way. But quite a lot were on the floor holding their heads, writhing on the floor like worms dancing in a pool of salt.
"Forget it Hayden, we can't help them" . Hunter said to him.
"Besides, it seems you need to break out of the spell on your own."
"Yeah" He replied. He could still hear the siren, but it wasn't affecting him anymore. After breaking out of it, the sounds just bounced off of him.
Slowly small rock chippings began to levitate and fall to the floor quickly, dancing in a rhythmic pattern to the beating of a talking drum. The drum the ground, the hands the feet of whatever was approaching.
They didn't need a clue or an instruction to get moving as Hayden began dashing forward towards the direction of the target building. Moving smoothly, they both were warily as they encountered no problems such as traps or another elemental spell been casted like the precious ones. Speaking of spells and powers, Hunter wondered if what they had passed through was the result of a magician at work or an elementalist.
"Hayden, please slow down". Hunter said as he stared ahead intensely. Up ahead laid the house, in full view. A two story building with a red zinc, and a hoisted flag bearing the elbem of the Royal family. In front of it were some groups of young teens all laughing and smiling as they all talked and drank water from bottles been passed around. Some pretty girls were even carrying some light snacks and fruity drinks around, sharing it to those who made it that far. The folks all took it heartily, and some gulped theirs down in a go.
"The people who made it, I guess it's over" Hayden said quietly while looking at them with a massive relief on his face. He would have been on his way already to go join in the fun, but because his elder brother said he should wait, and seems they were a team, both had to work together. Besides, he trusted Hunter especially back then when he saved his ass. Briefly he thought about what might have happened to those folks who were still trapped out and wondered what the thing which was coming their way with heavy steps did to them. Just for a second, he thought if one could even die in this test period. Anyway, he didn't want to find out.
"Can you smell it ?" Hunter asked.
"Smell what ?" he replied inquisitively.
"The smell of persuasion" Hunter replied.
"Huh" With doubt masking his face, he turned his neck and stared at his twin.
"Shh" Hunter gestured with his fingers to his lips as Hayden nodded and concentrated fully on searching for whatever his brother was hinting on.
