CHAPTER 15
"You're really testing my patience!"
"How dare you slap your own sister?!"
"I'll make sure to discipline you for this."
"Get to the company at day break! That's an order."
As soon as she turned her phone back on, Alika saw the series of messages which Maurice had left; not really surprised. She had expected him to react in this manner. Giovanna must have exaggerated the altercation.
She got up to get ready to go to the company as Maurice had ordered. Who knows what he would do if she didn't show up? She sighed heavily, tired of bearing the Langston family name. In other words, she was pretty glad that she would be free from Maurice's clutches after becoming the daughter-in-law of the Grahams.
Shaking of the thought of her father and her step-family, she began getting ready.
The while, Leonardo kept a calm appearance while listening to his grandfather speak over the phone but was burning on the inside at Dante Graham's words.
"How can you leave that man overseas?! Bring back the idiot... I won't spare him this time." Dante Graham's voice was filled with intense fury. He had never imagined that his son would become a liability to the Graham family.
"Don't you dare ignore him. Asher needs to get punished!" He continued.
"Okay, Grandpa. Relax a bit... I'll be sure to bring him back." Leonardo tried to soothe the old man. Although, he had a completely different thought in mind.
"You better make sure of it." And with that, he hung up.
Leonardo's face instantly turned dark. If it were up to him, Asher Graham would suffer for the rest of his life behind bars but thinking of his mother who would always plead on his behalf, he would always decide against it.
This matter was getting out of control.
Asher Graham always stole company funds and spent the money in casinos; gambling them all away in less than no time. This time, he had taken the initiative to embezzle two billion- which no one would have known about if Leonardo wasn't insightful.
"Get Asher Graham back in A City." He said to Fabian who was just about walking into his room. He who was already used to Leonardo's perceptive personality quickly made a call- not even fazed by how the young man addressed his father. That man didn't deserve to be called that word at all.

Alika stepped into the large six-storey building. It's reception, designed with polished marble floors and black leather sofas which highlighted its elegance. Maurice had taste when it came to decorations.
She approached the receptionist who was busy on her computer. "Good day. I have a meeting with Mister Langston." Due to no one recognized her as a Langston, she cautiously picked her words.
The receptionist looked at the woman standing before her up and down with scrutiny. "Mister Langston is in a meeting and you have to book an appointment if you want to meet with him." Her sinister approach made Alika raise a brow.
Was she so rude to everyone?
She decided to phone Maurice- "I'm here but your receptionist is being impolite." Alika might be different from Giovanna but they had something in common which was using Maurice Langston to their own advantage.
The one who was back to focusing on her computer froze for some time before speaking- "I'm really sorry Miss. I had no idea-"
"Don't bother. I'll find my way." Alika dismissed the young lady calmly but the woman felt embarrassed. If she lost her job because of this, how would she live? She could tell that the woman who had come here was no ordinary person from the way she spoke. Even if she was dressed so simply, she had on an aura of sophistication.
Alika knocked lightly on the door of Maurice's office before going in. "You called me over." She said, sounding distant. Maurice looked over at her gesturing for her to sit- it was weird that he couldn't find it in him to scold her anymore. "We have a meeting to attend at noon. It is best you prepare for it now."
Alika was shocked. She wanted to question his change in attitude but overlooked it. Maybe he understood the situation by himself- but that wasn't the case at all. Maurice had realized in a split second the amount of grudge his daughter must have accumulated for him over the years which prompted such an outburst. She was usually calm and collected...even when angry. So he thought that whatever happened yesterday was totally his fault. He had never been one to swallow his pride so telling her about the meeting should pacify her for now.
During meetings, Alika never presented herself as a daughter of the Langstons. Likely, no one knew who she was whenever she was present. They collectively thought of her as an advisor to Maurice and this was because she would always provide perfect concepts for anything which was discussed. She was indeed very clever and creative. Unknown to them, she was an heiress to the Langston's fortune.
