Chapter 1

Mel walked aimlessly down the narrow road. "Who cares, I will get a Job with a more decent employer," she said loudly talking to no one in particular. A frustrated look on her face

This was the fifth time she had to quit her job due to similar reasons in just one month.

Her four previous employers had fired her with a claim that she was a stubborn and unmannered young lady, The only difference this time was that she handed in her resignation by her own will

those previous employers described her as not fit for the job. "Unmannered? Stubborn? I can understand the stubborn part, but unmannered? Of course not" she thought to herself, their actions summoned her vicious behavior.

Earlier that day~~

Mel worked as a secretary to the CEO of Mindreads, A book publishing company. She sat at her desk directly outside her boss's office drafting his schedule for the week when his text came in.

Mel opened her message box and upon viewing his text. Her face stiffened. He was asking her on a business trip "Just what the hell are you up to this time, Mr. CEO." she mumbled to herself and went back to what she was doing.

Again her phone beeped. She opened the text, It read "We might as well spend the night there" with a drooling emoji at the end. Mel stood up and barged into her boss's office. The anger on her face was extremely visible.

"Where are your manners, couldn't you at least knock before coming in?" He hollered

"There you go again. Y'all keep talking about manners but you're the ones without manners" She hollered back

"Have you lost it? how dare you address me in such a way" he asked looking surprised.

"Why don't you read what you texted me, she said shoving the phone to his face. Did you mistake me for one of the whores you play dirty with?" Mel asked slamming her hand on his table.

"You're mistaken, What I meant by spending the night is different from what you're thinking" He explained.

"Well, it isn't your fault, What Shoe designer works in a book publishing company? Good riddance to bad rubbish" she said and dropped her resignation letter on his table before storming out.

Presently~~

Mel wandered through the street heading to no where in particular, She was tired of switching jobs almost every week. She was a Shoe designer but couldn't get into any standard footwear-producing company. Her bills would not pay themselves so she just decided to make do with any job available until luck strokes her.

" Stop right there," a raspy voice said from afar, Mel stopped in her tracks turning her head to see who it was, It was an unfamiliar male face, "Crazy Peverts," She said with a long hiss.

The man walked up to where she stood and gripped her hand tightly. His look was hostile and rigid.

"Who the hell are you?" Mel demanded trying to wriggle out of his grip.

"There's no use in trying, just follow me," he said. He brought out a syringe from his front pocket and injected her with it.

Mel tried to resist him but she was already weakened from his hold, besides she had been walking for a long time with an unfed stomach.

"What's your deal," She asked faintly.

"Consequence of going against Mr. CEO" he replied with a grim expression

"No way" Mel exclaimed shocked by his reply, She knew she had messed with the CEO's pride but judging from how he responded to her allegations earlier on, he didn't seem angry.

Mel thought he was so engrossed in his lust that he wouldn't mind a rude remark from her.

Alas! She was mistaken.

The rigid-looking man tightened his hold on her and began dragging her away. The effect of the anesthesia injected into her had grown past its mild stage, She was slowly losing consciousness

Mel was dragged to where the man parked his car, he asked her to get in but she would not yield, her whole body was gradually going numb.

"Get in before I lose my cool," The man said to Mel with a thunderous voice. Just then, he felt a shadow hovering behind him. He tightens his grip on Mel's hand. And makes a sharp turn to see whose Shadow it is

"Who invited you here, the rigid-looking man asked upon sighting a tall man. Mel peeked at the tall man trying to figure out who had come to save her. She could only catch a glimpse of his face

Ethan did not reply to his question, he glared at him for a while before finally speaking. "Set the Lady Free"

"Mind your business," the Man said and proceeded to force Mel into the Car. Ethan could not keep his cool anymore. Putting his martial arts skill to good use, He curled his hands into a fist, aiming at the man's nose, and he releases a heavy punch.

The man lets go of Mel and she falls to the ground, By now she was completely unconscious. He also loses balance and falls to the ground as a result of the unexpected punch.

Standing up almost immediately, he charges towards Ethan intending to kick him in the face, Ethan dodges swiftly and grabs his arm from behind, twisting it until it dislocates.

The man becomes weak as a result of the blood he lost after Ethan punched his nose. His shoulder bone had dislocated, and there was nothing he could do anymore. Ethan dipped his hands into his pocket and brought out a handcuff. He handcuffed the man and pushed him to the ground, successfully rendering him powerless. He rushed to Lady on the Floor.

Mel was unconscious, her long wavy hair covering some parts of her face, Ethan fixed his gaze on her, his eyes caught a curved line on her hand, peering into it, he discovered it was a scar. He blinked his eyes in disbelief, lifting her in his arms, he began walking towards a pitch-black Rolls-Royce.

Ethan opened the door of his Rolls-Royce and put her in a lying position on the passenger seat behind. He closed the door and got into the driver's seat. The car Zoomed off leaving a squealing sound
