After enjoying a hearty lunch, Prince Helios launched into the second part of his tale of the founding of his kingdom. His sonorous voice echoed in the dining hall when he spoke.
Naveena and her family waited for what seemed years for the return of Sol-Ange. As the years went by, her family reluctantly encouraged her to give up on him. They feared his enemies were too many or too strong. And, perhaps, they'd already killed him.
Her mother secretly feared that he had married a woman of his own kind when he returned to his people. She didn't want her daughter hurt, so she encouraged her to choose a husband from a neighboring tribe.
But Naveena refused. She would rather remain childless and alone than betray her beloved.
And so, the years passed. In the years that Sol-Ange and his tow 'brothers' were away, life became even more difficult for Naveena and her tribe. But they were a hearty people in body, mind, and spirit and so, they soldiered on. And they survived.
