Daimon arrived at General Zhan's quarters just as his friend was finishing his own dinner. He was healing well, but his face was still fairly bruised.
He told Zhan about Rowena's attempt to escape from etiquette lessons which resulted in her attending the audiences with visiting emissaries. He recounted how Rowena had insulted the diplomats and put them in their own place but managed to do it in such a sweet and seemingly innocent way.
Of course, Daimon knew she was no naïve child. And he had praised her virtuoso performance when they were alone at dinner that night.
"I wish I could have been there." Zhan said laughing. He could picture Rowena's performance.
"Any time you want to take over for me during those tedious meetings, you are welcome to it." Daimon said.
"No, thank you." Zhan said. "I just want to see Rowena put people in their place. I don't want to actually listen to the drivel that comes out of those diplomats' mouths."
