For the occasion, a raised platform had been constructed in the Imperial Gardens upon which a makeshift canopy had been erected. A canopy stretched over it to shield the guests from the sun. the chiffon curtains were currently tied back so as to allow the guests an unencumbered 360-degree view of the magnificent gardens. However, they could be undone to shield the guests from the elements – or prying eyes – if necessary.
Rectangular in shape, the main table was already elegantly set up for the foursome. Dishes, wine glasses, and silverware of the utmost expensiveness were arranged at each place setting. In addition, each place had a bowl of rosewater to the left which could be used for washing hands between courses. The Emperor never missed an opportunity to flaunt his wealth.
Four large chairs, luxuriously upholstered, were arranged at the long dining table. Three chairs were set at one end. Daimon would be at the head, with Rowena to his right and Queen Mathilde to his left.
