The Way the World Works (exposition dump)

"How do people grow in power?" Gott asked in a way which conveyed, to him, it was a simple question.

Yet for the Mad Magician, it was completely different entirely. Feuersberg was asking for the building blocks of the world.

Taking in a deep breath, The Magician spoke, "That's a complicated question but within my realm of knowledge. Let us first begin with what everybody uses as strength, World Energy. World Energy is the phenomenon in which energy, we still don't know how it is created, makes a connection with the world allowing to change it in many ways. A few of these ways are things such as taking on the form of an element, shaping into a usable physical form, or integrating into a something else strengthening that something. Those that I listed are the 3 main ways world energy is used, but there are indeed sub-variations of their uses."

The Magician paused for a second to look at Gott making sure he was keeping up. Yet, not only was Feuersberg keeping up, the intense stare in his eyes was like a little kids thirst for knowledge, soaking up every word.

One more breathe and The Mad Magician continued, "Along with the 3 mains ways of using energy comes the 3 types of practitioners there are. Those 3 are Martial Artists, Mages, and Warriors. Each of them uses World Energy differently and call it a different name. Due to each of their self-importance, it is also important to know that they typically have enmity, especially Mages and Martial Artists. Each claim to be the strongest with no evidence to prove it." The Magician paused to give a mocking chuckle.

"Well, then which one is actually the strongest?" This foolishness of discrimination confused Gott as it went beyond just pure pride.

"Funny thing is if you're talking battles, warriors. Even though there are fewer of them and when compared to anything outside of combat they're completely useless. Their sheer power, whether they admit it or not, makes both Martial Artists and Mages quiver. Well, enough about them. Let's move on to which ways the classes differ, please understand there are different subclasses, but those are so rare you just learn about them as you meet them. First, off Martial Artist use Martial Energy form certain things. Sometimes they make swords, armor, or beams of energy, it differs for each Martial Artist. They do reinforce their bodies, but they constantly have Martial Energy in their body, in a pure form, never do they have it where it's their actual bones or muscles that are strong. Instead, they have Martial Energy hidden in their body parts and subconsciously move it, making them quicker and stronger. Mages, on the other hand, don't use pure World Energy, or as Martial Artists call it Martial Energy, but instead you the chameleon properties of World Energy to form other entities, such as the elements, water, fire, earth, etc. They call this form of World Energy, Mana, this Mana can also work as food for certain beings which allows the Mages to summon creatures to help them fight. Invoking magic can be done in different ways, chanting, writing, hand motions, or sometimes even through thought. Unlike the other two, Mages can't use Mana to strengthen their bodies, but their firepower is by far the strongest. Using the elements, they can open the earth to sallow an army. I once saw with my own eyes a Mage, who was at the same rank in which other classes couldn't do it, wiped out a city with one spell. It was a coastal city, so the Mage used a tidal wave and made a new beach. Well, the point is their strong, but believe it or not, even with that firepower, they wouldn't be able to easily kill a warrior of the same level. Warriors, or as some call them Battle Born, only do one thing, strengthen their body with Ether. They catch up with Mages and Martial Artist by physical strength and pure combat skill. Mages have to be very intelligent, but the mind of a warrior is unbreakable. Martial Artists use unique attack patterns to better help their Martial Energy travel and damage their enemies, but the skill which the warriors have is unparalleled. Yet, as all classes due the drawbacks of the warriors are the biggest. Outside of fighting, they are useless. Their nickname Battle Born comes from the fact that they are only born for battle. While other classes have sub-categories such, Forger, Healer, Array Masters, Pill Masters, warriors don't. Even in the subclasses, it's fighting only; thus most people don't choose to become warriors. Not to mention it is the hardest to train in if being a Martial Artist and Mage can be called trial by fire. Then training as a warrior would be trial by Dante's Inferno!" Right after The Magician finished his statement, Gott Feuersberg spoke up.

"What type of Practitioner are you?" This question was essential to the Gott as for each class the Magician spoke of, he was very harsh about their downsides.

"Merely a weak Martial Artist, but also an Array Master and Enchanter. I haven't gone into detail about them, but in short, they imbue things with power through symbols and the like. I'm a special case as Enchanters are usually classified under Mages, but since Array Masters and Enchanters are so similar, I study both. Look here, these are what I enchant and set arrays on. Think of it as a type of weapon." The Magician pulled out a set of small rectangular cards.

On one side of the cards were strange images drawn on. But on the other face, each card had a small difference. The overall difference was the change between the number of symbols on each card and the color. The maximum number of symbols each card could have was 10 and the lowest 1. There were also different cards which just had certain portraits on it.

"I see… you mentioned that Mages, Martial Artist, and Warriors have enmity, does that mean wondering practitioners of different types just fight each other?" This was something that confused Gott as such a thing wouldn't make sense.

"No, it is usually competitions between Academies, Sects, and Guild. Academies are where Mages gather, Sects are the training place for Martial Artists, and Guilds are groups of warriors working together. They are many different Sects, Guilds, and Academies. The funny thing is each different type of organization often fight with each other, to earn the title Strongest. Really, there is no love between any organizations whether it be same or different types of practitioners who started it. Yet, people will still make them just so they can form companionship with others." The last sentence about why people make organizations really caught Gott's attention.

'Companionship through founding an organization? Then that's exactly what I'll do.' Already forming in Gott's head were ways of establishing a Sect, Guild or Academy.
