I heard the sound of my room door opening and closing. The sound of footsteps getting louder and louder until it seemed like it stopped by the side of the bed where I rest.
"Wake up Juni-k–... Wake up dear."
I opened my eyes and saw someone beautiful besides me. Why did she call me dear? As my vision got better, I realized it was the most beautiful girl standing right there.
Kinai Tochaki. An idol seen by everyone in our school. Someone who is caring and kind towards others. Very outgoing personality and sweet demeanor. Lastly and importantly, someone who I love dearly.
"Stare...…"
"A few more minutes Tochaki-san."
I was still sleepy. I wanted to sleep a bit more and closed my eyes again. However, I felt a little smooch on the side of my cheek.
"Mwaaaaaaaaah!"
I didn't even have to turn around to know what happened. My eyes became wide open immediately and I got up from the bed.
"Looks like that woke you up! I want to go hangout today dear!"
"Alright Tochaki-san, give me a few minutes."
She left to the door after that and I decided to finally dress up and headed out my bedroom door.
It was the day after the last day of the festival. It might have been just an ordinary day for any other teenager, but this is the start of another exciting life for me. I confessed to Tochaki-san that day and she gave me back her love. It's been less than 24 hours since we officially became a couple and Tochaki-san already wanted to go out. I brushed my teeth and headed downstairs. I decided to be a bit formal today and wore something nice. Of course, my hair was done and I wasn't wearing glasses either. Tochaki-san was waiting for me downstairs already.
"Took you long enough. Let's go dear!"
She opened the door and ran outside like a child. I smiled and followed along. This will be a fun day.
We got off the train that took us to Tokyo city and immediately went to a movie theater.
"Hey dear! Let's watch this movie!"
She was pointing at the new horror movie made based on a living doll.
"If you're scared of haunted houses that were made in our school with limited budget, what makes you think you can handle a horror movie?"
"I just thought it would be a fun experience! I love horror but just not great at them."
"What a problematic hobby you have there."
"Well if anything happens, I know you're there to protect me… right?"
Her face was blushing a little while acting cute.
"Well then, shall we go dear?"
She held out her hand. I smiled and took it.
"Of course."
We walked towards the counter and ordered two tickets to the horror movie. We entered the movie theater and sat down in our seats. There were other people already there and it was clear whether some people didn't belong here. There were people shaking while holding their drink while others were patiently waiting for the movie to start. Why come watch this movie if you can't handle horror? Well, to be fair, I got someone right next to me with the same problem so I guess I can't judge them too much.
As me and Tochaki-san talked for about 15 minutes, the lights finally went out and the movie began.
It was just like I expected. Everytime a jumpscare comes, I can see out of the corner of my eyes, Tochaki-san hiding her face. Knowing this would happen, I put my arm on the arm holder and every time Tochaki-san got scared, she would hold onto my arm like no tomorrow. This series of events lasted for an hour or so until the movie ended. We left the movie theater and she was still shivering.
"Finally realize your own strength?"
Although we were outside the theater, she was still holding onto my arm.
"Y-y-yea…"
"Maybe choose a different movie next time."
"Well I had to choose this one…"
"Why? I'm sure you would enjoy it much better when you actually watch more than half the movie."
I joked a little bit but it didn't seem to comfort her at all.
"If I didn't choose a scary one, I wouldn't have a reason to hold onto your arms…"
I acted surprised while looking at her cute and bashful expression. I knew she was the type of girl who wanted lots of attention but I didn't think she would go to such lengths to scare herself to do so.
"Dear… I want to express just how much I love you…"
She was saying such cute things that I couldn't think straight. I cleared my mind after a few seconds.
"Tochaki-san, you don't need a reason to hold onto my arms. You're free to do so whenever. You're my girlfriend, you're free to hold onto me while asking for permission."
"I know… but it's embarrassing asking you straight up…"
"Well, you should get used to it."
She was now hitting me with her hands softly. It seemed I might have made her a little mad. I patted her head and it seemed to calm her down a bit.
"Also, you said you like horror, that was a lie wasn't it."
"...maybe…"
"..."
"...sorry…"
She was still shivering. Even though it was just my arm being held, my whole body was basically shaking with how much Tochaki-san was shivering. I stopped walking and stood still, Tochaki-san gave me a confused look.
"Need a hug then?"
I offered a hug to try to calm her. She looked at me with an embarrassed look and immediately jumped into my arms.
"You're the best. I couldn't ask for a better lover."
Her cute words pierced my heart like a love arrow. I hugged her back and she seemed to stop shivering as much.
"As long as you're happy, I'll do anything."
I tried to confirm my love for her but it just seemed to turn her scared look to a embarassed one.
"Dummy… I'll be happy as long as you're by my side."
"I won't ever leave your side then."
"This is what I love about you."
Her buried face, now looking at me, has the smile of an angel. So cute and elegant. I finally let go of her small body and held out my hand.
"Shall we go then?"
"Yea."
She took my hand and Tochaki-san led the way to our next spot.
