Magic Item & Weapons

Vivian went back to the compound where the members of the Temple of Priests live and entered the blacksmith shop.

Sike and Grace were there and she immediately headed straight to them.

When the two saw Vivian's White Cloak, a surprised expression appeared on their faces.

Earlier this afternoon when she came she was wearing a brown cloak, now she was wearing a white cloak.

"Sister, did you just get promoted?" Sike asked when Vivian got to them.

"Yes."

"Congratulations, sister!" Sike and Grace said.

"Thank you," Vivian said and flashed a very warm and kind smile. "By the way, I want to use this coupon."

She took out the Magic Item Coupon that she received from the Mission Room for getting promoted and placed it on the table.

Sike took it.

"Of course! What kind of magic item do you want? By the way, the magic item you can choose using this coupon is only for mithril grade and only has one magical effect."

So there are magic items that have two magical effects, huh…

"Do you have a magic item that allows me to see in the dark?"

"Yes, we have that and the effect is called [Vision]. What kind of item do you want? We have here weapon, helmet, ring, earring, necklace, brooch and many more."

"I have a question: If it's an earring and I wore it, is the magical effect passive or active?"

"We have both passive and active." 

Vivian knitted her brows.

"Can you tell me which one is better?"

"It depends on the situation, sister. Both passive and active have their own advantages and disadvantages."

"Can you tell me what are the advantages and disadvantages?"

"For the passive, although you don't have to spend any mana points when wearing it, it limits your vision when using it in bright environments and it also leaves you blind with sudden bright lights. Meanwhile, for active, the advantage is that you can manually turn it on and off whenever you like, while the disadvantage is that it costs mana to activate and maintain it."

"I have one last question. The metal grade I can get from using the coupon is only mithril, right? Let's say my magical power is orichalcum, would it get damaged if I use it?"

"Yes, that's another disadvantage of the active."

"And the passive doesn't have that kind of disadvantage?"

"It still has that kind of disadvantage. Every time you wear it and take it off. It's also like an Earring of Spirit where although you don't have to take it off because its effect is passive, eventually after a year or more, depending on the metal grade, it will eventually break."

I really want to active one since I have [Halo] and [Greater Chaos Enchant]…

But considering how fast my Intelligence is growing, it would be pointless…

My only choice is the passive one…

However, I don't know what kind of equipment I want…

Weapons and rings are out of the question because they will get destroyed if I use Physical Arts…

Earring would be good because it will be locked tightly only ear and it can also match my Earring of Spirit…

But since it's passive, I have to wear and take it out manually depending on the situation…

There's also the chance that it might get lost if I keep it inside my pocket…

I also don't like a necklace because I already have this gold necklace around my neck and the chances of it getting ripped out during a fight is high…

Helmet and brooch are no different either…

Sike pulled out a box underneath the counter and placed it on top.

Just like her Earring of Spirit, it was only a single earring, not a pair.

There were eight earrings in front of Vivian and sported different colors, designs and gems.

"I want this."

The earring she pointed to had a silver-colored body with a tiny red gem and red runes just like her Earring of Spirit.

"Okay, sister."

Sike picked up the earring and placed it inside a tiny jewelry box. He was about to put it inside another box to seal it securely when Vivian interrupted him.

"You don't have to do that. Just give me the earring."

 "Okay, sister," he said and handed the tiny jewelry box to her.

Vivian placed it inside one of her pants' pockets.

As for how she would keep it with her at all times when she wasn't using it, she decided that she would just pin it on the strap of her bra just to be sure.

Sike took the Magic Item Coupon and returned the rest of the earrings underneath the counter.

"I also want to buy elemental weapons. Only mithril grade and above can be imbued with magic effect, right?"

"Elemental Weapons?" Sike asked specifically because based on his experience, Vivian's knowledge about Magic Items and Magic Weapons was a bit limited but he didn't want to insult her by assuming she didn't know about the different types of Magic Weapons. "Yes, what element do you want?"

"What elements do you have here?"

"We have Light, Dark, Fire, Poison, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Ice and Soul."

"By the way, are those the only elements? Like, are there other secret elements?"

"Not counting Chaos, out of all the elements I've mentioned, Soul is considered the rarest element and it's highly valued by fighters."

"Soul? Why?"

"Only the Elemental Gods know. For some reason, there are more people with the Fire Affinity and fewer people with the Soul Affinity. The Soul Affinity is also useful for dealing with demon-worshipers because it cuts off their healing power." 

"I see."

Vivian recalled the time she fought the demon bandits and how they were able to heal their wounds.

But it doesn't seem to be unlimited…

"How much for each Elemental Weapon?"

"The lowest is 80 gold coins and recharging is 10 gold coins."

"Are their elemental weapons with more than one element?"

"Only Magic Weapons can have multiple elements, while Elemental Weapons can only have one. However, both can have Magical Effects. And of course, the more element and magical effect, the pricier."

"I want to buy Dark, Earth, Ice and Soul."

A surprised expression appeared on both Sike and Grace's face.

"What type of weapons?"

"I want something small like a dagger or something."

"Small? We have a finger claw."

"Finger claw?"

Sike left and brought back a box with him before placing it on top of the counter.

"Some call it finger claw, others call it ring claw."

Vivian leaned forward and examined the items.

It was basically a ring with a long metallic claw attached to it and there were runes written around the ring.

As for why other people call it finger claw instead of ring claw, some of the designs of the ring part covers the entire finger.

Vivian leaned back and looked at Sike.

"And each one is 80 gold coins, right?"

"Yes."

"And if I buy it using a loan it would be 90 gold coins?"

"Yes."

"Okay, I want Dark, Earth, Ice and Soul with this design," she said and pointed.

The finger claw she pointed only sported a simple ring design and had a silver-colored body with runes on it.

"Okay, we will measure your finger size first and then resize it."

"How long will it take?"

"At least a day."

"So I won't be getting any of them today?"

"Yes, if we have to resize it."

"I don't mean to be annoying, but I don't really care which finger I will wear it on. As long as I can wear it, it's fine. But if nothing fits, I don't mind buying daggers instead."

"Okay, sister. Please wait for a moment."

Sike picked up sample rings from underneath the counter and placed them on top.

"Please choose a ring size that you want."

Vivian removed one of her gloves, revealing an abnormally pale right hand that even her fingernails were blue.

I really need to buy nail polish as well... 

She picked up one of the ring samples and slid in on her pointing finger, and made a close and open motion.

No wonder this type of weapon isn't popular even back in my original world... 

I can't even form a proper fist...!

She removed the ring and then picked up another one.

"I want this size," she said before removing it and putting it down.

"Okay, sister."

Both Sike and Grace immediately began gathering and packaging the Dark, Earth, Ice and Soul Finger Claw.

After they were done, they placed all of them inside a large handbag and gave it to Vivian.

"I'm going to buy it with a loan. So that's 360 gold coins, right?"

"Yes, sister."

"By the way, do you also have boots that can't be affected by Physical Arts, like if I use [Power Leg]?"

Since Vivian's physical strength has greatly improved that she can literally one-punch and kick a living being to death, she no longer deems it necessary having to wear something like her metal-covered leather boots.

And even if her foot gets pierced by something sharp or she breaks a bone, she can simply heal it in the blink of an eye.

Furthermore, she was now White Cloak.

What if I stepped on an enemy, they got stabbed by my heel and it gets stuck...? 

But then again, there are kind of different heels... 

Ugh...!

Why can't someone as beautiful as me fight in style without sacrificing practicality and efficiency...?  

Such a cruel world...!

"Can I also use it for kicking?"

"Yes, you can but it won't last long."

"What about the thing you told me last time where people can use [Power Leg] to increase their vertical jump? Does it also affect it?"

"That only affects boots with metal."

So this person didn't explain to me things properly last time…

"The pros of leather gloves and boots is that you can use Physical Arts like [Power Fist] and [Power Leg] on them and they won't be destroyed. But the cons is that they break easily when using normal attacks and they don't provide any additional damage or protection.

"Meanwhile, for metal gloves and boots, the pros is that they can be engraved with magical effects -- as long as it's mithril grade and above -- , they don't break easily using normal attacks and they can also provide additional damage or protection. But the cons is that they break easily if you use Physical Arts on them.

"Is this correct or am I missing something here?"

"Yes, everything you said is correct except for one thing," said Sike. "Leather gloves don't technically get easily destroyed when using normal attacks like punching. They simply get destroyed over time with everyday use. But for the leather boots, yes, if you keep kicking things then they will get destroyed much quicker. It's actually the metal boots that lasts longer when using normal attacks." 

"I see. How much is a pair of mithril boots?"

"For the normal ones, it starts at 10 gold coins. Meanwhile, the magical ones starts at 50 gold coins."

"And orichalcum is 100 and 500 gold coins, while adamantite is 1,000 and 5,000 gold coins, right?"

"Yes."

"How much is the leather boots again?"

"It starts at 5 silver coins."

Hmm…

Looks like my only choice is the leather boots…

At least I'll be able to keep changing so that I won't get bored at looking the same boots over and over again...

And I could also play with fashion and not worry about destroying them...

"Last question: Is it smart to use heeled boots when tracking in the forest?"

"I believe such a question is better answered by Sister Grace," Sike said and turned to Grace who was quietly observing from the side.

"Me?" Grace asked with a surprised tone as she placed a hand on her chest.

"Sister, I don't have any experience wearing heels…" said Sike.

"Right, Brother Sike. Sorry about that," she said and turned to Vivian. "Personally, I prefer wearing heeled boots when tracking, but they're only one inch. It also works perfectly fine in the forest. However, I have seen a few who wears two inches."

"I see. Thank you, sister," Vivian said and then turned to Sike. "I want to add black high-cut leather boots as well -- 2 inches. Thank you."

I'm still nowhere close to my original height...

But hey, at least I'm going to be a little bit taller...

"Yes, sister."
