The Ascension of Gears

Ashe was the Celebrated technological advancement of the century but century's have passed, now they are nothing but a rusting exhibit in a bankrupt museum. When Ashes failing motor gives up on them they believe this is the end of their sorrowful life stuck repeating forgotten memories of the past. But reality has something else in mind. Rebooting with an extra month of power, Ashe finds them-self lying in a tree in a strange forest. With their creaking metal body, they discover they are in a new fantasy world of cultivators. Body cultivation and physiques

Body cultivation is an infinite form of cultivation that is difficult, expensive and lethal to obtain.

Achieving a small realm in body cultivation increases the cultivators strength by a small amount. However when the cultivator reaches the 10th stage they will be able to display strength a major realm above their own.

Physiques are divided into mortal, earth and divine physiques.

Physiques can give the person an advantage above others however many physiques also come with many disadvantages. The greater the physique, the greater the advantages and disadvantages.

Beasts

Beasts are animals and some plants that have evolved to cultivate differently than the other sentient races.

Most beasts can cultivate beru devouring other plants and animals and are ranked due to their intelligence and strength.

iron rank - herbivores or weak beasts that feast on mortals.

bronze rank - strength similar to a late body refiner or early Qi absorption realm.

silver rank - strength similar to core formation realm

gold rank - leaders of a pack or overlord of a small territory

platinum rank - able to use Qi to send messages has intelligence similar to a young human.

diamond rank - able to speak the common tongue.

Races

Humans - One of the largest races but their potential in cultivation is generally below average. Humans are seen as a race of deception and trickery by the other races.

Humans have a wide range of affinities, however its extremely rare for a rare affinity to appear and near-impossible for a primordial affinity.

Elves - The elves are one of the noblest races, with a strong belief in the goddess of light, life and nature.

Elves are seen as natures favoured due their otherworldly beauty and strong affinities for light, plants and the rare life element. The current elven empress of The great Bure forest empire has the primordial nature affinity.

Dwarfs - Dwarfs are a neutral race that prefer to isolate themselves in mountains. Their strength is similar to humans but they lack in population to be viewed as dangerous.

Dwarfs have a great talent when it comes to artisan work especially in the forge, this led their survival being due to trade with the greater races.

Dwarfs over reliance on stronger races has led to them being an arrogant race that disdains the weak and unskilled, while fawning the strong and talented.

Beastmen - The beastmen are a myriad of humanoid races with animal like characteristics.

Their individual strength is greater than most humans, however their race is separated into many tribes, dotted all across the world.

Beastmen have a strong belief in their ancestors and prey to strong beasts as their guardian deities.

Merfolk - A hidden race that controls the worlds oceans. They have little contact with the other race except for trades with some isolated beastmen tribes.

The merfolk have a strong connection with spirit energy that often leads to the weaker merfolk having a shorter attention-span and memory. However the strong in their natural habitat are a force of nature that scares many cultivators.

The more powerful merfolk defend the oceans from powerful beasts that always threaten their small kingdoms and empires.

Orcs - Orcs are a stronger race that once decimated their continent and are feared by many lesser races.

They have a strong belief in strength and honour which leads to a lot of infighting. Despite the infighting the orcs are known to unite immediately when facing the threat of other races.

Goblins - Goblins are a race of miners and hoarders that hide away underground all across the world. The number of goblins is unknown.

They are known as the weakest race, however they are very united and the only race to never have major infighting.

Goblins are often bullied by stronger races which has led to them creating a large catacomb of connecting tunnels underground which has never been successfully breached.

Demons - The most varied race when it comes to abilities. Initially, demons were a large number of different races until they united under the banner of the abyssal demons.

Demons have the worst reputation amongst all the races and are almost always at war with other major forces.

Vampires - Once they were apart of the demon race, but they rebelled and broke ties with the demons after the abyssal demons started to interfere with their internal politics.

Vampires are a proud race who view the elegance of nobility in the highest regard with strong respect to titles.

They are still viewed as a demonic race by many other races and struggle to gain a foothold with no kingdoms of their own.

They hide amongst humans stealing their blood for substance due to their human-like appearance. vampires are very talented in blood affinity which is rare amongst other races.

Angels - The biggest hypocrites on Anglia that fanatically believe in the Holy light.

They view themselves as the top of purity which leads to a great prejudice against half breeds.

Despite this, they pity the lower races and often protect them from disasters and war, however they treat the lesser beings as servants.

They have a strong hatred towards demons and would often start purging the demon population every century.

Aether - A giant god-like race that rivals the dragons in arrogance and the angels in hypocrisy.

The aether have a humanoid body that can grow up to 5 meters tall and often view themselves as gods above the lower races.

They have an unstable alliance with the angels over the beliefs of the human race who they favour.

They view lesser races as entertainment often causing wars and bringing disasters to many races.

They have a strong hedonistic lifestyle believing in pleasures above all else and are known by the greater races for their culture.

Dragons - Often viewed as the most powerful race with strong affinities and inborn talents.

Dragons are born at the core formation realm and have the power equal to a human at the elemental alignment realm, however it is much harder for dragons to cultivate; many dragons take centuries to climb 2-3 minor realms.

Dragons are large, winged reptiles that can't take an enlightened form until they reach the nascent soul realm.

They like to hoard gold and treasures and are known for their laziness and arrogance.

Due to their long lifespan and lazy lifestyles the dragon population hardly changes over multiple millennia.

Titans - Once one of the strongest races, due to having many strong talents with rare and primordial affinities with strong body cultivations.

However, they were hunted down by a joint alliance of Aether, angels and dragons. Very few remain in hiding.

The lifespan of a titan is unknown to most races as many believe them to be immortal. They have a calm but arrogant attitude to others viewing them as children which angered the other great races, contributing to the genocide.

Giants - Giants are the offspring of the titans that have an impure bloodline. They have strong physical strength but their cultivation talents are said to be worse than humans.

This led to them focusing on body cultivation which they do not lack in talent, the strongest giant is said to be a core formation realm that can rival those above nascent soul realm.

Spirits - Spirits are inanimate objects and plants that have gained sentience over time with the help of cultivation.

This race often guides lower creatures into a symbiotic relationship, due to spirits being unable to move until they can take an enlightened form.

Many plant spirits are viewed as divine beings sent from the goddess by elves such as the tree of life the strongest plant spirit with a very strong life affinity that watches over the great Bure forest empire.

Mares - The mares are a divided race that has been in a civil war longer than most dragons have been alive. The mares are a humanoid race that radiates psychic energy with strong talent in illusion, mind and dream affinities.

no one knows who started the war and no one wants to touch that baggage with a 10 ft pole.

Machine race - A race made from metal, wires and plastic with bodies of gears and minds of motherboards. A new race that appeared in the chaotic woods.

Many other small races exist across the world.

Map and major forces

The world is called Anglia that is split into 5 major continents and 7 minor continents.

Central continent - The largest continent split into 5 main regions.

The Bure forest in the east home of the elven empire.

The desolate desert of the south where many beastmen tribes were forced to reside due to the human plains in the centre.

The angels have holy temples in the peaks to the north, while dwarfs fortify the mountains in the west.

Eastern continent - The smallest of the 5 major continents that is mostly dominated by orcs. The environment is mostly barren with many rocky hills and very few shrubs.

There are a few beastmen tribes in the east continent that survives by sending most of their food to the the grand warlord of the orc race.

North continent - The most dangerous continent also known as the eternal battlefield. Both demons and angels have settlements across the continent. many of the natives have been killed or enslaved by the two races and used as soldiers in their many wars.

The human kingdom of Talon is located between the two forces. The demons and angels came to an agreement that the fight will not involve either races, but instead the humans that they can persuade to each side.

Civil strife is common in Talon and both religions and cults are treated with extreme prejudice. Despite this, Talon is known as the most peaceful place in the north continent.

Southern continent - Known as the land of giants. once the holy land of the titans, has now become a mess of factions where the giants are often fighting against each other.

often caused by the interference of the aether who have their own city state of Danker located in the north. Danker is the main trade hub of the southern continent that trades many of the local exotic goods all around the world.

Western continent - The desolate continent (as the other continents call it) is the second largest continent, however the weakest continent.

The continent is split into 4 major regions being the chaos forest, the goblin caves, the divine mountains and the Kahn empire.

The kahn empire is the most powerful force on the western continent, its a human empire that prizes itself for its nobility that runs rampant with no body stopping them.

Vampires are the largest problem in the empire, as many nobles have made many deals with the vampires for their power.

The goblin caves is the main entrance to the world wide network of the catacombs. The human sects often raids the entrance for resources, however they never dare to go too deep.

The divine mountains has the strongest density of Qi on the western continent. Despite this, no forces dare to claim the mountains, due to the high number of strong beasts that cover the entire mountain range.

Chaos forest got this name from the citizens of the Kahn empire due to it lacking any order. In the forest you can find beings from all lesser races from goblins to elves.

The forest is a mess of many small cities and sects competing for the small amount of resources located in the forest. However due to the chaos many of the inhabitants of the forest don't discriminate against other races. Its the only place where a human and an orc live together in peace.

The blessed heavenly temple - A minor continent controlled by the angels, known as the most sacred of holy places that only the purest angels can live.

Maximus Sontares - A minor continent known for the capital of the demonic empire, only the strongest races and their slaves can reside on the continent.

Minimus Sontares - The demonic empires second minor continent that many weaker races reside on.

Asgard - The cultural epicentre of Anglia where the aether reside, there are many entertainment districts across the minor continent that features brothels, gourmets and arenas. The only beings allowed on Asgard are the angels who have a few temples and dwarfs who own an embassy.

Crescent island - A minor continent owned by the elves. The elves of this continent worship the moon and stars which the great Bure forest empire calls blasphemy.

Dreaming peaks - The only place where mares are found. The continent is divided into three peaks with thick fog that covers the continent. No one knows what's going on there as the mares live in their own world with the exception of the odd angel or demon.

Dragon islands - An artificial floating minor continent of the dragons created to honour their supreme dragon god of wealth, power and authority.

Professions

All professions follow the same structure of levels to each other under the the guilds association. Grade of items is judged on the overall power of the item e.g. grade 3 pill only affects core formation realm and below.

iron - mortal can do this (they can refine grade 1 pills, weapons, formation etc)

bronze - needs to be a proper cultivator (grade 2)

silver - needs to have some achievements (grade 3)

gold - most are at least at the core formation realm (grade 4)

platinum - would be core members of the respective guild (grade 5)

diamond - the best of the best that many empires will struggle to afford (grade 6)

Alchemist - Refines pills and potions from medical herbs and natural treasures. The pills are further divided due to their purity that shows how affective a pill is. A perfect healing pill will fully heal the consumer, while a basic healing pill will at most heal small scratches.

basic - 40% pure

intermediate - 50% pure

advanced - 60% pure

peak - 80% pure

perfect - 100% pure

Formation masters - able to use Qi and arcane symbols to construct formations using the required materials that can have a greater affect than a technique.

Forge masters - able to craft weapons and armours with unique abilities.

Talisman creators - able to seal powerful techniques into talismans to release them at later times when using a small amount of Qi.

Sealers - able to manipulate the arcane into confining a certain physical or spiritual aspect.

Beast tamers - using arcane to create a contract sworn on the Dao to domesticate beasts.

Scriptors - able to understand the arcane on another level and draw scripts using Qi.

Spiritual cooks - able to imbue affects into ones food.

Artisans - understands the arcane on another level and able to imbue the affects into everyday items.
